Thanks. I think we can all agree the space station was a bit underwhelming except as a base building section pack, since the central section was kinda just a place to attach them together without even the illusion of internal space. I was using it as just a large booster engine (kind of like Star Wars hyperdrive booster rings) for the smaller ships with an airlock mount on the back until now.
Also, landing pad just by itself, because I procrastinated on it for way too long. It's built on the corners of 4 moon crater baseplates, with pillars going into the craterholes, but I forgot to take a picture of the underside to show that off. Maybe when I get home.

As promised. Also, I got in a bunch of black Citytron torsoes I ordered, so I'm making a military contingent (white being civilian/corporate). Full black for regular soldiers, silver for officers and senior officers, gold for flag grade. Presumably, the commander from the base set that all these torsoes were duplicated from is a retired general or whatnot.

Last one I took for now, the base proper. Ruthless corporate mineral exploitation combined with touchy-feely xenoanthropology. The Friendstron bit in the middle I imagine as kind of a reception/recreation area, purple is bureaucratic/administrative in my little system of extra uniform colours. The NASAslop base in the corner of the landing field is separate because they're independents. The company allowed them to set up a base on a claimed planet because they were willing to set up a garage and work on all the ground vehicles, but they have to do their actual mining in the asteroid fields like peasants, hence the ship (actual set is supposed to be a space station, but it works as an ugly ungainly privately owned mining vessel too).

I tweaked my Treetop Tower MOC and added more land and water, but I also raised the the rock wall piece up by 1 brick to give it height to allow characters to go inside the cave while wearing headgear. I need to get a chest or few sacks to put in to be their loot

I plan to down the road build a shack for my goat herder Nathaniel Napsalot and his loli forest sprite wife. Once I finish the Sebbl Castle World MOC vids, I imagine these characters will find their way into some stories. I already have a shack with farming garden, but that belongs to Farner John and his adopted ward. Napsalot needs a proper home including an area for his goats abd pretty lady.

Anyhow, here's a Pirate set I built. I post about it the other day, but it was in a thread that I think was deleted. Too many Lego threads, we should have only 1, maybe 2 (one for MOCs) but new main threads every day is too much, these boards are too slow for new threads before image limits, let's stop that dudes.


I got this bootlego brick set off Amazon for $26 bucks. A few parts of the instructions were fucked and you couldn't actually do the thing it said to with the parts provided, but I fiddled around a bit getting it to work. They had the wrong sizing for the sails and technic pieces but I made it work by switching around a piece and removing 1 spacer. I also had to use one 1x4 brick from outside the set to make a connection point with the road pieces that was too short to actually reach. The light kit it came with was garbage and im not using it. But the set itself has great usable pieces for MOCing, abd the set itself is lots of fun and a playable space.

Well furnished interiors for the sparse space. Indoor kitchen/dinning area downstairs and upstairs a main quarters. Also a good dock with a jail and a crane.

I included my main pirate crew two parrots and a fish for my fisherman, as well as the one boat by the dock. But the boat with a sail and the whole building are what came in the knockoff brick set. It included that black boat mold and a plastic sail, a single red parrot, a crab, a seagull and a classic monkey (in a lighter brown).

It came with two cannons, one for the base one for the ship. I forgot to mention i modified the ship to move the sail forward by removing the cannon (and putting a tiny gun cannon in front) and I raised the walls up by 1 brick tall for a minifigure to actually sit inside and I also added the angled pieces with the gokd frogs for decoration and to not make it so boxy.

I saw both the D&D set and the Lion Knight Castle at the Lego store for 25% off. LKC was $300 instead of $400 and D&D was $270 instead of $360. Both seemed much more reasonable for that price. However, I was only gonna get one and LKC won out because I figured I could MOC with it, but wouldn't want to disassemble the D&D set. In the end I think I made the right choice, though I regret i won't see the D&D set that low again. I say go for it, it looks real fun. But if you want it cheaper, buy the Creator 3in1 Castle and the Creator 3in1 Dragon, you can recreate the whole D&D set, especially if you already have the figures.

Its because all are rooted in a real setting you can transplant yourself into. Pirates is KINO adventure of freedom, Castle has epic medieval warfare and shades of fantasy, Western let's you tame a west that's still wild.

There's no "real" Space adventures to root the theme in, and ones that try are boring and suck and provide little imaginative fun play. Also, the Space theme never had a unifying connected faction, with so many liking the Subthemes and not Space itself. A nostalgic Castle fan will likely buy any new Faction or old and put it in their collection as a part of the Kingdom. A nostalgic Space fan will turn their nose up at themes that arent "their" Space. A Castle set will sell to Castle fans. A Pirate ship will sell to Pirate fans. A Space set won't sell because the fan wanted UFO and not Ice Planet, or Blacktron 2 and not 80s Space.... People just call it piece count farming. Instead of using one 1x2 plate they'll use two 1x1 plates, so on and so forth. They do it for two reasons - first is of course inflating the piece cpunt making it look like the set is more value, and also, if a set piece list already includes a small element that can be combined to represent a bigger one, they'll just make more of the smaller piece so not to use the whole mold for the bigger one, saving them a couple of cents on each set manufactured

It's not like the discussions between those posts were that engaging. It mostly consisted of whining about minute details in new sets or calling things slop because they were based on an existing property and lacked "sovl". It is my belief that these shitposts thrive on attention and starving them of that attention would decrease their ubiquity. However, too many of us can't let that go and here we are in the mess we've made.

last week i met up with family and built a lego set together with my cousin, something i hadn't done for about 15 years. Now i wanna buy one for myself, ideally I'd like a little house to put on my desk with little guys running around in front of it or something like that.
Any recommendations? I've been looking at stuff on amazon but it's all harry potter and movie stuff, any unbranded house I've seen either is a paper thin facade of a house (I mean I get that they do this so kids can play with them) or has those weird polly pocket lanky girls as minifigures.

Your best bet would be probably something from the icons theme. Occasionally ideas also have something half-decent that fits the bit, such as the upcoming italian riviera. Keep in mind these two themes don't exactly what you'd call "little" houses since they're more or less for adults and they tend to be on the more expensive side of things.

Terrain builds are deceptively difficult. Whenever I do them they turn out looking too busy or not like Lego. And a lot of people’s just look like total shit. That one is really well built. It’s large with good camera friendly shaping, plenty of space to play, and it’s not overly complicated. That build is a flex. But I do agree that rock builds aren’t as exciting as other builds.
