>>11486073First the shitty f1 series and now this? Pain.
Will we ever get a decent set that's less than $80?
>>11486071 (OP)I fanilly saw Superman, fun film, had a great time. All I'll say, fuck Lego. They should've made sets for the film.
>>11486078I was about to say this and then I remembered it's fucking $90 buckaroos. Pain

>It still looks like Lego
What were they fucking thinking? Why does Sonic need an RV? I thought Sonic could run fast and is homeless.
>>11486091This was my Lego highlight of the past 5 or 10 years. I still have some slight hope they will do a full theme at some point
>>11486101What is this? A comic? Cartoon? Who gives a fuck about anything besides the games?
>>11486073This will be lame unless they do some interesting animals or do things like werewolves.
>>11486117If they do actual head molds it could be good. If it's your typical costume head with a hole for the human head(as those prototype mold leaks seem to indicate) then into the trash it goes. At least there's no temptation to spend money, I won't touch it just like the carshit
>>11486116>What is this? A comic? Cartoon? TailsTube, it's on Youtube.
>Who gives a fuck about anything besides the games? You'd be surprised. Sonic comic and cartoon fans are rabbid.
Leak will come any day now. There's a 99% chance I won't even buy it but for some reason I'm still excited. I guess it's a big happening to talk about with all my /lg/ bros
>>11486071 (OP)Nice OP pic, really brings back the feeling of nostalgia for the old days
>>11486131Why are you talking about yourself in the third person?
BEGOS! Love to be me and my begos playing always fun together with so much happiness
Anyone know of any 4-wide helicopters that fit an entire stretcher in them? Hopefully from a 90's set?
I'm building a hospital based on the style of #6380 but inspired by 6398's layout and want to put something on the helipad.
I did some looking on bricklink but didn't find much other than a tandem rotor cargo helicopter
>>11486166How about you MOC your own?
>my creative building toy display NEEDS an official design helicopter
>>11486073>cmf spider man>cmf f1>cmf animal costumesPart of me is glad because I wanted to give my wallet a break. But man thatโs just an exceptionally bad streak
>>11486223glad to see the next big piece of the modular hogwarts is so much cheaper. my wallet can relax
>>11486073I think it would be cool if each costume has the real animal as the "accessory"
>>11486071 (OP)You can make threads early and I wonโt mind if they are nice images likenthis

Which vidya would you like to see turned into a Lego theme?
>>11486239I don't like this
>>11486242None is my first choice. My second choice is Armored Core
>inb4 grrrrrrr you should feel bad because I do not like From SoftwareFortunately for you it wonโt happen.
>>11486239Tartarus looks really good. More of him specifically?
>>11486092I already fell for it though what do I do now
>>11486232That would actually be interesting.
>>11486242Genshin Impact has done some pretty wacky random merch collabs, it's likely they have already reached out to Lego and were rejected. but I'd give that a vote.
we are at the mercy of "whatever the design team likes!" for example Animal Crossing and One Piece (but the Netflix version, 'cause that's the one they watched!)
What unlicensed theme is coming next now that Dreamzzz is being cancelled?
>>11486320didn't they cancel Monkey Kid, as well?
Lego can get by with just City as the non-licensed thing. they can charge more for IPs, so why not just do more of those?
would you rather have Castle Mess or Legend of Zelda sets? let me re-phrase that: do you think Lego would make more profits with random castle sets, or with Legend of Zelda castle sets?
How do you stay hopeful/optimistic? It feels like everything is going downhill
>>11486369there are technically things to cheer about. a lot of things.
for example, we ARE getting Star TREK Lego! Finally after decades of waiting and seething watching Star Wars do well.
of course, it's FOUR FREAKING HUNDREDS DOLLARS argh.
the way to be optimistic is to secure an income where $400 is easily blown on a toy. I suggest Rock Star. they make that kind of money.
>>11486333Unlicensed themes usually have a 3-5 year life cycle. Even with licenses taking over they keep rolling out experiments like hidden side and that dance one Iโm forgetting the name of that anon posted here
>>11486371. It seems business as usual. My guess is once the last dreamz sets hit shelves, we have 9 months bun in the oven before we get a new unlicensed theme.
>castle or ZeldaCastle would be great. Ideally fantasy era but I would be down for anything so long as there are small and affordable sets so that it may be easily accessible to children. Thereโs definitely an audience for it. The cmf castle figures are consistently the most purchased figures. The not-themed castle sets are doing good on shelves. I never had a Nintendo console growing up so zelda is just not something I care about.
>would Zelda make more moneyThe Zelda set isnโt selling. I think if they went the animal crossing route with smaller sets zelda would sell but itโs failing the trial run so far. I donโt think Zelda should receive a full theme though. Really Nintendo should just do super smash bros cmf
>>11486369Oh thatโs easy anon.
>mocs>acquiring old retired sets I always wantedThatโs the beauty of lego. You donโt need the BRAND NEW OVERPRICED SET, you can make whatever you want or look through an endless back catalogue of retired sets.
>>11486369>How do you stay hopeful/optimistic? It feels like everything is going downhillI try not to come here too often. It's a miserable place full of nothing but negativity.
>>11486396>never had a Nintendo console growing upFuck your shitty parents.

Sonicbros we literally cannot stop winning. Stay mad Mario and Zeldacucks
>>11486493Why does sonic need a car?
Which state issued him a drivers license?
Does Lego just have a shitload of F1 trash laying around they want to use up?
>stay mad marioDude there are dozens and dozens of mario sets.
>>11486446No I had great parents. I was just more into lego than video games so they got me legos mostly. Our first console was a ps2 and then later a 360. Surprisingly the only Nintendo console Iโve ever owned is a Wii U which I purchased for myself as an adult. And I only ever used it for Smash and Mario kart. 8 player smash was over the top fun and I kind of miss those years.
>>11486493>carslop>shitverlol, well if it makes you happy... definitely better than buying a Sonic game, anyway.
>>11486242Give me Bricktalities.
>>11486476Really want this one but $150 seems to be the standard. Only started collecting vintage sets after covid so maybe prices were better but even small ass sets below 100 pieces can sell for like $30-50 now.

>bricklink those boat hulls and minifigures from that era>go to third party sail manufacturer that recreate those old sails https://okbrickworks.com/product-category/printed-cloth/lego-boat-sails/>make the classic pirate armada you always wanted
Is it me or is Dreamzzz actually a really interesting theme?
>>114861666482 from the 80s is a 4wide rescue helicopter that fits a stretcher but as you said it's a tandem rotor. It fits a battery box so it can easily be made shorter. And you could examine the rear door to see if it can be made less tall. And then there is 6691 which is a 4 wide regular rescue helicopter that fits a stretcher via a rear door. But the design is quite boxy and the skids make it wider. See if you can combine design elements from both.
>>11486550The problem is the main characters. No one actually likes them. The villains are really cool and so are the villain sets. And everyone is confused by the tiny weird little dudes. But the sets are very cleverly designed. The builds are fun. They are sturdy and yet are designed to be taken apart easily. And I love the 3-in-1 nature of the sets. Also the color scheme is a mess and I think is the major turnoff for most people.
>>11486500>Dude there are dozens and dozens of mario setsAnd yet not a single one with minifigs

Boughted the Dark Falcon since the general decided yesterday that Rebuild the Galaxy is an acceptable subtheme to purchase
>>11486730Based.
I really want them to do more of this subtheme. Particularly Dev's Starfighter or the Jedi Council AT-Sandcrawler hybrid.
>>11486073In hindsight I can justify how much I spent on Series 27 Wolfpacks and buying multiples of all the DnD figs, since I won't be buying any CMFs for the next year. F1 slop, Spiderslop and costumeslop...
>>11486736I haven't even watched the show, I just mindlessly consume Lego because it makes the voices stop temporarily. I like this Falcon a lot, but it is kind of weird how there are no clips or any kind of storage for extra weapons anywhere despite how much empty unused space there is inside. The front middle part (escape pod location if you are a faggot) also looks really bad and borderline unfinished when viewed head-on and I find it really strange that they just left a giant hole in the front of the ship when it could have easily been covered up. The minifigures are great as memes, but the Jedi Vader suffers pretty badly from not having any eye printing.
>>11486742>The front middle part (escape pod location if you are a faggot) also looks really bad and borderline unfinished when viewed head-onIt's actually even worse on the OT Falcon set this is based on.
But I agree, they could have made much better use of the interior space. More accessories inside, hidden hatches, furniture, etc. But that also makes it perfect for modding and adding your own props and features. It being a meme is quite inviting to add a bunch of random bits and bobs inside. I've only added a coffee machine and an extra bed to mine but now I wanna fiddle with it even further.
>>11486601Letโs say they do explore mario minifigs.
What are you going to do with them that you canโt do now?
Make your own level? Pretend to save the princess? Beat Bowser? Collect coins and power ups?
Face it thereโs nothing a minifig can do that you canโt already do. Youโre just a consoomer and these tiny bits of plastic donโt even bring you joy anymore.
Sad.
>>11486166Here's a small 90s design I whipped up. Having a 4-wide helicopter that can fit a stretcher means it's going to have a long fuselage plus an aft end.
Tried to have the aft taper a bit. Primitive but a good start.

>>11486949unironically way better than minifigs, I just wish there was a brick-built Mario and Luigi too
>>11486601>>11486949actually... I'm fine with all the brick-built figures.
I think they are charming in their own ways
but that MARIO? hideous.
he doesn't look "Lego" or "Video Game" they settled on an in-between version that's awful. do you remember the picture of the prototype Minidolls? for the Friends sets? and it's like "yeah, they picked the best one"? well... they picked the wrong Mario.
he doesn't "match" any of it. I get that he needs electronics in him, so he needs to be a big solid piece, but make him look similar to the other brick-built things.
as much as I want one (and it's painfully obvious everyone else, too) if they EVER made ONE Mario Minifig, the entire brick-built Mario Empire would implode immediately. and they can simply make bigger, more expensive sets with brick-built figures
>>11486936Youโd be a grumpy cat too if you had to see what heโs seen.
>>11486949>You figfag retards are what killed technic maxifigsWhat are you talking about? Technic figures were killed long before minifigure collecting went mainstream.

>>11486738Yeah, my 50 beastmasters isn't so bad now. Only hope for the animal cmf's is they come with new animal molds but I won't get my hopes up. Picked up some figs and plates from the local Lego shop today. A few decent printed and stickers pieces.

>>11487236Thank you. Hopefully if this sells well they might do a flying dutchman eventually who knows

>>11486242Runescape.
>>11487311They were because the target demographic was just kids. Now the target demographic are manchildren consoomers who'll pay $1,000 on a pile of gray bricks just to get the glup shitto minifigure with exclusive leg printing (an extra crease on the pants).
>>11487346i hate that harry potter is also turning into that too
i'm not even a big fan of the books/ films, i just think magic school is a fun idea and the sets all combining together into a massive castle is also a fun concept
too bad kids can't afford most of the classroom sets and their parents will scoff at playing $250+ for the main castle sets
>>11487346Printed pieces, simple builds, epic box art, megaphone blasters, yellow heads, chrome sabers, and even the small and cheap sets would just give you "chase" figures for $5/$10... We must return.
If lego made this set today it'd be 4500 pieces, $650, all the prints would be stickers, and you wouldn't get the side build, maintainence droids or spectator minifigs.
>>11486166Itโs from 2010 but the copter in 3222 is pretty good size with a 4 wide body (but wider rear wheelbase), could swap the nose and rotors for the earlier style
>>11487358that's not even true either because lego would never add a third podracer to the set
it would just be anakin and sebulba's pods, again
>>11487362You're right. And so are they.
>>11487358Lego could legit do a Speed Champions style subset of podracers.
they can even twist-the-screws by making them bigger. say... $50 each? ($80 for Sebulba's?) hopefully at that price each set might include a random "spectator" or other important side-character specific to the race.
there are 20 different podracers, at $50 each (which is honestly optimistic, they would be $60 or more) that's $1000+ per [crazy Star Wars collector]!!!
>>11486091i bought a full case + 6 extra mind flayers and 12 extra dragon knights when they were released, i knew this was a once in a 20 years triple a release from lego.
>>11487408>6 extra mind flayersPatrician taste.
>>11487072lego's choice is really fishy here, they even refused to do a head+fat body mold they did before with gamorrean guards in various star wars sets and one of the hobbit dwarfs from the unexpected gathering set.
>>11487404I'd pay good money for Gasgano's pod. Might be nice just to even do a remake of
>>11487358 in 2029 for the anniversary if doing each podracer would be too risky for a small billion dollar toy company.
>>11487441Price is probably a big factor to that. I mean making a new complex mold with dual-molding just for one minifig is something they don't want to do unless it's important or there's no other way around it. As for a general fat torso mold, it would probably have to be round which would make it harder to print.
But obviously they mainly just want to avoid being offensive. Better to make a comically non-fat minifig than to attract the wrath of the people who look like her. Despite celebrating being 'plus-size', they also get offended it you depict them truthfully.
Are there any blind spots in the Lego catalog as far as speculative fiction that are yet to be tackled? At this point I feel like they've touched on every possible setting that ever was.
>>11486242Don't wait for official Lego StarCraft, make it happen on your own
>>11487611We've had dinosaurs in modern settings, couple frozen ice age animals in city artic and a few caveman cmf but never a full on pulpy prehistoria
>>11487629*Blocks your path*
>>11487611Has Lego ever made any post-apocalyptic sets? There may have been some licensed ones that I can't name off the top of my head but it has a lot of potential. I'm imagining an original theme with Mad Max type cars would be really fun.
inb4 they make a 3000 piece duplo set that costs $900
>>11487611Someone a few threads ago mentioned the idea of a castle theme set in the present era and that stuck with me. Modern architecture with apparent medieval influence, cop knights, planes and helicopters based on DaVinci's flying machines, and advertisements in that weird, barely-even-resembles-what-it's-meant-to-be-depicting style a lot of medieval art had.

>my favorite cape movie won't have sets
This pains me, I loved this movie so much and it's so toyetic... fuck lego
Give me lego superman sets
>>11487999Lego goes off of precious track records mostly. By and large the only DC sets that sell are Batman. Even if the new Superman movie is successful lego tried putting out Superman sets before and they flopped because the movies were mediocre. Devilโs advocate here: they canโt know if a movie is successful before itโs out. But they donโt see a correlation between movie being good or not and sets selling. They see everything through Sales data. And they also donโt realize that over time fads change. Itโs kind of like how that Lone Ranger movie was a giant flop so Lone Ranger sets didnโt sell and lego decided then and there that no Wild West sets would ever be made again. Or the fact that during the game of thrones craze, since a license would have not made sense with the adult nature of the show, they should have had a castle theme. Or that during the still-present dnd and tabletop rpg craze, a theme with affordable sets in addition to large bullshit would sell like crazy. Poor people like Lego too and small impulse buy sets would be very successful. Like me for example. I would buy LOTR sets if there was a 50-100 dollar option. But no if I want two sets thatโll be 1000 dollars plus tax is another 89 dollars because my state is awful
>>11488010>Like me for example. I would buy LOTR sets if there was a 50-100 dollar option. But no if I want two sets thatโll be 1000 dollars plus tax is another 89 dolLotr and hobbit flopped when they made those sets years ago get over it
Why is Jang always shitting on LEGO and praising off brand bricks? Now he's complaining that LEGO makes specialized pieces and praising chinkbricks for doing the same

Oink oink
I really wanna fuck this little piggy
>>11487999I wonder who is "in charge" of this?
does Lego seek out the movie tie-in, hoping to get extra money by having sets tied to (hopefully) popular movie?
or do the Movie People seek out Lego, and offer Lego money, to produce sets based on their movie, in order to help promote the film?
as fans of Lego, we all assume Lego sits back in a big leather chair, and gets to pick whatever they want. (Mmmmm... how about Fortnite?) like nobody in the world would refuse the offer to get Lego sets made for their product.
I guess my point is that this could be DC's fault, and not Lego? for not offering enough money to promote their movie

Is there any merit to the claim that modern ABS lego plastic is less durable than it used to be? Do we know for sure that it's a lower grade? And would the new sugar-cane based plastic they're planning on replacing all ABS with by 2030 be an improvement?
>>11487311There has definitely been a downturn in soul even among the sloppiest licenseslop. I wouldn't say many early SW sets were ever great but they did at least feel like Lego interpretations of famous SW things, rather than any old SW slop that Lego has to bend over backwards to accommodate with hundreds of unique molds and special colors.
>>11487999Someday we'll get an official Guy fig. Someday. For now I'll settle for putting a smug face with a Ron Weasley hairpiece on a Hal Jordan body.
>>11488087>they did at least feel like Lego interpretations of famous SW thingsThis has been the case across most themes since the whole "Adults Welcome" campaign in 2020. It's no longer a lego-fied version of something you like, it's a model of the thing you like and it just happens to be made out of Lego.
Sadly, I don't see this changing, I see it getting worse. The Jango helmet released this year makes the 2020 Boba helmet, which was already too overdone, look outdated. Eventually, Lego will lose its identity and just be a model maker, and when the millenials eventually phase out of the market, there won't be nostalgic adults to pick up the slack.
>>11488080>we know for sure that it's a lower grade? We know it used to be precolored but now they use clear plastic with a added coloring agent so the likelihood of it being worse quality is very high(the unintended inconsistent color variation is undeniable). It also doesn't take much guessing to compare your 80s and early 90s bricks and notice they are heavier and fit together with greater strength. Also the cmfs are made in different factories and are of lower quality than minifigs from standard sets. On a positive note the newer clips are said to be less prone to breaking and the grey/white don't yellow as much as they did but time will tell.
>>11487995Factories move pieces between them too, so even after the Virginia factory is done in 2027, there will still be imported charges.
But yeah, all Lego is going up and they're cutting back on lighted, fabric and printed pieces whilst doing so.
When's the next Jang City update?
>>11488099>We know it used to be precolored but now they use clear plastic with a added coloring agent so the likelihood of it being worse quality is very high(Wait seriously? How long has that been going on for? I thought all bricks were precolored and that certain formulations like dark red and brown from the mid 10's just had a bad batch.
>>11488106When they greatly expanded the color pallet in the 2000s
Also forgot to mention that the injection marks are becoming a lot more visible which means they are pumping pieces out of the molds at much faster rates which is likely bound to affect their quality as well
>>11488106>I thought all bricks were precolored and that certain formulations like dark red and brown from the mid 10's just had a bad batch.Lol
>>11488114I fucking loved the Green Grocer. I remember being a kid and playing a lot with that set. I would hide minifigures inside and point lights through the window because I thought it was cool. I sold the set a few years ago for I think twice what I bought it for.
>>11488111>>11488114No one buying modern Lego pieces is going to be passing them down to their grandkids. They won't last.

>Get extremely pissed at their mother
>"Anon, they were only playing. They're toys anyway."
>Immediately kick them out of the house
>Sob in the middle of the mess
I think I might unironically kill myself. Some of my rare Star Wars minifigures are missing too, I think the little shits stole them as well.
What are some ways you reSOULify modern lego?
>>11488127I had a feeling the animal head thing was somebody's "secret fetish" as they were sneaking in figures into CMF sets. honestly... good for them. it's gross, but you have to admire the fact that they are making their dream come true.
we need the cheerleader guy to push for his CMF set. people want to make cheer squads more than animal-head zoos, you'd think
>>11488010>>11488053Eh, it's more like Lego take their own internal metrics and the studio's to decide what movie properties get sets. For example, I'm sure they had a lot of data proving (probably before the first trailer even came out) that something like Thunderbolts didn't have a lot draw so they didn't make any sets for it, but Fantastic Four is trending MUCH higher so they at least made one for it.
But DC specifically is weird because only Batman really sells so even if Superman showed a lot of popularity it didn't really make sense for them do anything with it based on past trends.
>>11488178there was a time when the NFL paid musicians to perform at the Superbowl Halftime show. please it would be cool for us if we could have [famous musician] at our event!

has Lego passed this line already?
>walk into lego store
>black box and licensed slop front and center
>city, ninjago, and dreamz in the literal backend
Why does lego hate its original themes so much?
>>11488203That's strategically done. They need to have the adult sets out front to catch the eye of adults. Kids will go into a Lego store because it's a Lego store. You dont need to do much more than that for kids. You need to immediately show adults products they will want or they'll just see kids toys and go to the next store.

>>11488080Yes because they use clear ABS pellets and then dye them in the mix. This was "cheaper" to manufacture since you can carry more pellets in clear and then just apply the color they need instead of, say, running out of grey pellets for the new Star Sloppa sets.
Bio-plastics are very cool, like PLE (corn) being used for throwaway items like packaging for foods and bottles, but neither is as strong or durable like real plastic. 2030 is only 5 years from now but we are definitely going to see a drop in quality and most likely 2030 sets will not last 30-40 years like current Lego.
>>11488111>injection marks are becoming a lot more visibleI was building Pacman tabletop set and I couldn't help but notice how many of the big panels/plates and technic pieces had this problem.
>>11488544It's literally the exact same pieces as the Mario plates. Which is kind of stupid because the whole point of AC is to build a town which you can't really do.

>>11488114Brand new 2025 Simpsons GWP. I knew the CMFs looked like cheaper plastic because the yellow heads looks lighter yellow than normal, but the fact that it's now affecting the bricks is really sad. (If you noticed, Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga was the last Warner Bros Lego game and everything else has been published by different groups)

welp, there's a nice organized parts list in the back of the instruction book. and a form online to fill out. Lego will be happy to send replacements. thanks for helping point out manufacturing flaws.
don't let Lego "get away with it." ASK for correct color replacements! dare they give you the opportunity to explain why? (um... I spent a lot of money, and these bricks are not the same color)

>>11488619Nah people here donโt actually play with them.
>>11488619It doesn't really affect me. They sit in my minifig display box anyway. As long as the printing is fine then it's good for me.
EU magazine will come with a Maul fig.
I don't know why they're pushing Maul so hard recently. I know he's getting his own show soon but isn't that more reason to lay off him for a while since he'll be in a bunch of new sets. He still has his ship and cheap accessible mech on shelves. Most people already have multiples of him (I know I do since I bought both sets twice)
It's the shitty version without the pupils too. They could have included a Galactic Marine to make army building them easier. Now the only way to get them is the Juggernaut which only has 3 for $160.
>He collects minifigurines instead of making and pain6ing his own

>>11488619Translucent limbs and dual molded legs are horrendous for this. I have a couple so bad they flop down when I touch the set, so I just retired them to chairs. This is why I groan whenever I read 'X from Y series/thing would be so much better with dual molded legs'.
>>11488641>I don't know why they're pushing Maul so hard recently.Him and Grevious are the Boba Fetts of the prequels, sell merch they look sick as fuck but ultimately do nothing in the films. One movie was not enough to develop any of the sith villains like Darth Vader gets.
