Are there any good for-kids sets out this year or next? Everything Lego seems like an $80+ model nowadays.

If you want something relatively cheap and brand new, the Dreamzzz brain mech is good. I like to pretend the head is a detachable ship. Mateo's car, Cooper's jet, the paint truck, the cat bike, the time owl, the Neverwitch's rave, and the manta alt build of the shark submarine are also good.
For Ninjago, Arin's jet, Arin's car, Lloyd's jet mech, Lloyd's car, the 4+ temple, and the Dragonian village are the best.
The City F1 sets are pretty good -- namely the pit stop, the truck, and the garage. Any of the City Space sets are also good picks.
On the license/adult side, I like the Jurassic World gas station and temple, the ARC-170 and V-19, the Sonic Eggman driller, the Blacktron ship, and the Ninjago workshops. They're fun for kids to play with, so they're not dust collectors.

It objectively should be $50 cheaper. I'll tell you how it really is: did you always want "that big castle from lego" when you were a kid and know nothing else about lego? If yes, you'll like it a lot. If you're a nerd who knows all Castle factions and have all of them and also 9999 MOCs you made yourself, you'll also like it but less. It's just plain good set build-wise and aesthetics-wise, it gives you a shitton of gray to build all your castles, it gives you a lot of figs to place in your castles etc.

The minifigs were the real highlight, though—exactly what I want from an original theme. They mixed everything from fantasy and castle to pirates, space, and horror. That was GOATed. This is what Dreamzzz should have done: mix classic LEGO genres but with great set design.

Jang sold his city to keep the channel on the road, It was diversity of his channel content that drew people in and the high quality reviews. he got rid to that diversity(mocs, mods, city updates, hauls, even meta videos about lego, all sorts) all gone now doubled down on review and went down the streaming rabbit hole which just took all his time just for scraps from his paypigs.

Anyone and their sister can do high quality reviews now from a technical standpoint. As he ages and gets more and more cynical and snarky. His channel enters a death spiral.
