Hi!

I underwent an emergency ostomy surgery in 2024. Lego had just released a set that included a new minifigure with an ostomy.

They were so kind to send me the minifigure for free as a supportive gesture, and even went the extra mile to ask questions about my hair to make sure the wig matched.

I have cherished this minifig since my surgery, and how seen it made me feel. I don’t collect them, so I only have this one, but often times it gets tucked into a drawer because I don’t know how to display it since I only have one.

Any ideas?

Farmer John faces down Lord Dragon. Been busy MOCing and reading comics, but just had the time to sit down and record a video for my Castle World MOC series. Should have the video up on Friday. I adore the minifigures but the sets don’t do much for me. I got the tall castle a year back or so. It’s definitely the best of the theme but the reality is once you get passed the height, it’s just okay. The sets are Perfect for expanding upon though. I suggest using those missing pieces as an opportunity to make the sets your own. That dragon powered airship thing is such a cool idea. Just needs to be fixed by (You)

>trash plastic quality
I came back to LEGO after like 20 years of not paying attention to it, and while I find the modern licensed slop and excessive tiny, smoothed, high piece count design to be kinda cringe try hard and not my cup of tea, it was the noticably worse plastic quality that really surprised me. I played and built with LEGOs a ton growing up, so the new pieces just felt wrong in various ways like being too shiny, smooth, or light weight

>I give lego 10 years before going bankrupt
lego will eventually decline because they've shifted focus toward catering towards nostalgic adults at the expense of modern legos being too expensive for kids to afford. This is very profitable in the short-term, but it also means in the future there will be fewer people who grew up playing with legos as kids, and therefore won't be dropping fat stacks on the 18+ sets.

However, that's still a ways away. Still plenty of zoomers who grew up with legos in the mid 2000s and early/mid 2010s that they will be able to cater nostalgia to in the future. But it'll probably be the last generation that this strategy will work for. After that, lego goes the way of lionel trains. I give lego 30 years of life.

Ideally sets should have at least 2 minifigs. Think about it from the kid's perspective: As a kid sure you can get a spaceship and fly it around, but your "hero" (the minifig that comes with the set) needs something to interact with so you can actually play. Sure it could just explore, but kids play for adventure (mostly). So you need a villain or monster to oppose it.

If you just have a spaceship with a dude in it flying around it will end up collecting dust and in the future it is unlikely kids will pick up another set like it, or if it even sells at all in the first place. If you have a set with 2 or more minifigs that can be setup to be in an adventure, kids will be more likely to ask parents to buy it for them.

Nobody but AFOL autists buy sets for ONE minifig.

I think Creator should introduce subthemes, like having two sets per year for Castle, Pirates, Space, Adventurers, or even a Western theme! One Creator set could be a 3-in-1, and if they’re well-designed, with two different 3-in-1 Castle sets, you could create some really cool builds. Lego fans would buy all of them! Just imagine how many Castle fans would purchase three or more of the same set to build all three models or MOCs. Also, I’d love to see a classic ninja dojo with samurai under Creator, because Ninjago is too modern for me.

looks like Lego is going all-in, hardcore, full-steam-ahead, etc...
on the Electronic Poop Noise Brick
it will be in everything...

the hardest part will be convincing consumers that somehow Lego is even yet MORE expensive. (b-but electronics!)

greedy, pompous Lego will try and re-coup development costs quickly by doubling set prices, arrogantly assuming people already "get it" that it's the best new thing ever. in reality, the double-priced sets will tank, just like Vidiyo, and Lego will blame customers for not knowing what they missed

Minifigures with tags
>Speaking of minifigures: LEGO had to come up with something new, because a regular minifigure simply doesn't offer enough space to house electronics. As with the Star Wars minifigures with illuminated lightsabers, LEGO has modified parts of the minifigures for the new system. The connection between the torso and legs is arguably much more compact, but the parts can no longer be separated by buyers. The tiny circuit board in the drawing is shaped almost like a vest, which is pushed into the torso from below before the legs are attached. Patent application WO2024223801 A1 covers this new minifigure design.

>Here you can see a charging pad, the design of which, as explained above, may of course look somewhat different in reality. But what is most important is how it works. According to the description, the pad creates a charging field (FIG. 3), so that the Smart Bricks or other components of the system with batteries do not have to rest directly on the pad, but can also be charged as part of a built model (FIG. 4, paragraph 91). This would also explain why we found the pad surprisingly large last year based on the now deleted images. Several Smart Bricks could be charged simultaneously (FIG. 8), whereby moving them or reorienting them on the pad could increase or decrease the charging rate of the individual Bricks (FIG. 9, paragraphs 107 f.).

Smart Brick
>Where the battery and charging coil are located in the Smart Brick is revealed by a patent for the brick itself: EP4591961A1 . Not only do we get an astonishingly detailed look at the brick's structure, but we also get confirmation (paragraph 161) that in addition to the charging system, processor, and communication components, it is also supposed to contain two LEDs , a loudspeaker, and a microphone , as well as an acceleration sensor and an unspecified "sensor system." A color sensor, which we had suspected based on the colorful geodes in the test sets and a side window in the brick's casing, is not explicitly mentioned here. However, it is mentioned in the patent specification WO2025157587 A1 for the brick's circuit board, where it refers to a light sensor for color measurement ("light detector [...] configured for color sensing"). A (future?) possible, extended version of the circuit board is also described, which could then contain, among other things, an infrared emitter, for example for communication or – in conjunction with the light sensor – as an optical motion sensor.

>Particularly interesting is the information that the brick is supposed to contain several coils arranged parallel on all sides. The purpose of this becomes clear when you take a look at the patent EP4591961A1 (β€œELECTRONIC DEVICE WITH MULTIFUNCTION MAGNETIC SYSTEM”). This shows that the Smart Brick is apparently supposed to be able to detect the relative position of other system components . If I understand correctly, signals are received from all three spatial directions (with the respective coil), and the location of the other component is then determined based on the signal strength. So if, for example, a minifigure with a tag is standing to the right of the Smart Brick, the signal from this direction will be stronger than, for example, the signal from the β€œup/down” or β€œfront/back” measurement.

Kids are still into horror these days right? Maybe Lego should have some kind of horror themed set. But not the generic Dracula and Wolfman stuff. Lean into inspiration from modern kid friendly horror like Five Nights or Siren Head or SCP Foundation and what have you. Include little packets of lore on the monsters and I think kids would love it.

Put them in relatable situations like a small school set with a marketable mascot monster in it. And if you make the designs cool enough adults would probably be open to it as well.

This would have to be done extremely well though because this would be an idea that would be very easy to fuck up and appear opportunistic and soulless if you half-ass it.

The second subtheme would be called LEGO Creator: Worlds. This line would feature minifigure-heavy remakes of classic sets from older themes. It would include both standard sets and 3-in-1 sets. Within this line, there would be subthemes focusing on Historical, Action, and Adventure genres.

These sets would be released at a range of price points, but none would exceed $140. The primary price tiers would be $10, $20, $40, $60, and $80, with occasional sets at $30, $100, $120, and $140.

it's infuriating that Hasbro leaves-alone [desperately wanted?] characters, and just as infuriating that Lego could do so much more.

Star Wars was founded on the idea of cool random background characters. we need MORE of that type of stuff!

it seems way easier for Lego to make minifigs than for Hasbro to mold entire giant figures. soooo.... DO IT Lego! humble those Hasbro fools by pumping out a gazillion Commander Bly-level characters!

back in the day we all knew who Snaggletooth was, and we've long passed the point where the majority of people know each specific background character, but that shouldn't stop Lego from including them. Just because you don't know who SK-620 is, there's a lot of people who would cheer to see him.

ALSO, the sad fact is: bly doesn't appear a lot because filoni swept aayla under the rug.
out of any classic popular jedi she had the least appearances in tcw with like two episodes early on. as you can imagine her commander had even LESS appearances as a result.
It sucks so bad. I love aayla but disney refuses to make her relevant or put her in anything. I think finally she makes an appearance in one of the current comics as a supporting character...but man you can still count her current canon appearances on one hand.

I found this torso and legs loose at a local toy shop in their Lego section. $4 with generic head and hair.

I saw the body and instantly thought of The Bride from Kill Bill. Like I mean I know it doesn't have the black stripes down the arms, but the torso is practically perfext and it even has the same unzipped look and a button on the breat. As soon as I got it home, I gave it a Thor hairpiece and head from the Dino Hunter Woman CMF, plus a katana. Boom! Hella cool. Its not perfect, but pretty darn good I think.

awesome

I like doing custom show figures using existing pieces rather than bootlego prints

I wish Lego would sneak more prints into sets that are obvious matches (for example there was recently a purple frilly-shirt torso that would make an awesome Artist Formerly Known as Price Minifig)

I found this pic I had from a long time ago, it's characters from the show Supernatural. (some anon asked for it months ago but I forgot where the file was)

It's not that deep. Just the usual Lego SW fan retardation. People will shit and piss themselves over Clone Commander Gromblo who has a total screen time of 15 seconds and has a slightly different marking than regular troopers. It really is a fetish at this point and you can blame it for the prices the theme is getting.
Also, something something muh helmet holes. Lego Star Wars has become the minifigure theme that happens to have builds included.

I've been a fan of theme for years because I genuinely enjoy the franchise and the sets always had fun play features and gimmicks but that has officially been ruined by what are essentially funko pop collectors. Nowadays the only good SW sets on shelves are the Rebuild the Galaxy ones which these faggots don't even care about.

I'm convinced the director of RtG put Revan in it because he too hopes Lego will put him in a set. Same goes for all the other fun characters like Jedi Jabba, gunslinger Grievous and the rabbit one. Shame it's looking like they won't do it since the current RtG sets aren't selling well so they might axe the sub theme.
