It's sad how little merchandise there is for Bad Guys 2, or even the first movie for that matter. There were some promo drink cup figurines for Bad Guys 2 but I have no idea what theaters even had them. They didn't even make Funko Pops.

If a Japanese manufacturer makes Bad Guys action figures I'd buy 'em all, but I have no idea what kind of fanbase it has over there. The first one didn't do gangbusters in Japan but their theaters were still largely boarded up for Kung Flu when it came out, and the second one doesn't open in Japan until after the Blu-Ray release in the US because Universal still hasn't got their shit together when it comes to global releases.

Well, we still have two more characters who haven't been revealed yet, so I wouldn't give up just yet - Daisy's design was already decided on back when Liya was first announced, since her silhouette on the website was already there along with Tonia's. I'm guessing she was the backup design for the second release in case Liya wasn't a success, but went with Tonia when they saw there was a demand for furry characters after all, leaving Daisy's "safe" design for last.

I'm not sure enough people have Liya yet for there to be a consensus - only a few places actually got her in a little while back, with everywhere else only now starting to ask for payment; BBTS hasn't even done that yet. As for Tonia, nobody's got her yet, and Daisy literally just went up for preorders yesterday. From what I heard from the anons who got her early, though, Liya is pretty good, though her tail is heavy and makes keeping her upright without a stand a little tough; she's apparently better in that regard than Shion was, though, as the issue is in the weight of the tail rather than the design of the legs like with the latter.

I am fairly conflicted over this figure. On one hand, I'm kinda glad she's not a super cool GirlCow figure. I skipped Tonia because I was afraid if the third girl in the series was a cool furry adventure girl I'd need to get the whole team, and as Daisy is very much not that I'd be safe to just stick with Liya. On the other hand...she's a cute generic fantasy Barmaid with appropriate accessories and some appealing attributes...so now I kinda wanna get her, meaning I'll have to get Tonia and the whole team anyway.

I don't mind the human face as much, it's the human legs that disappoint me. She could've been a cool Minotaur girl if they went with unguligrade legs, even as an optional part. Something similar to the Lazy Monster Studio Not-Draenei (pic related) or how Xesray did the legs of their Minotaurs where the Plantigrade foot can be swapped out for the ungulate ankle/hoof combo. Something to make her a more distinct monster-girl then just costume-y head pieces.

I'm very much on the fence about wanting her, but it's the stiletto heels that kind of kill the whole look for me. Even if she were a human, shoes like that on a fantasy bar maid don't really work. I do love the magic wand in the broomstick though, that's super clever.

That's an awful lot of speculation. These aren't just random figures being dropped randomly, there's a story and developing game coming along side and through these figures. It starts with Liya setting off on an adventure, eventually she runs into Tonia in the woods and from there the pair travel to a town where they meet Daisy working the local Pub.

It takes *months* to design and prototype figures to get to the point where they can take those promo pics, these girls have been developed and worked on for probably years on top of what we've seen. There is no "testing the waters" on these figures, these girls were always planned to release in this order.

BBTS hasn't got their stock yet. It's normal (sadly) - they tend to get stuff later than other places, since they're basically a middleman service based in America that buys their stock from Japanese retailers. Liya is explicitly stated to be a "Candyland Version", so she's mimicking the colors of a ball of cotton candy. I just got mine from 5K today and she's lots of fun. Really solid figure, especially from a seemingly first time company. My only gripe really is her wrist pegs got stuck inside of her hands and I can't pull em out. But she does come with extra so I'm just using those for now until I can heat up her hands.

I also managed to find a really nice real sword for her to eventually upgrade to after she gets a bit more experience adventuring. It's even got a similar shape and is only slightly bigger then her training sword. It also has a scabbard, but being a figma accessory, it's one of those fake scabbards that just has a spare hilt sticking out of it. I need to figure out a way to mount the hilt to her belt though, or maybe make my own shoulder strap so she can carry it around.

I'm curious if we'll ever see "leveled up" versions of these girls. Their current designs are very clearly meant to be low level starter looks, so more advanced Adventurer specific designs would be really cool to pick up eventually.

Yeah, I feel like this concept can go really far. With furries so willing to have art and models created for their oc's, having an easily accessible way of doing that irl could make bank.
And in general the furry side of action figures remains really untapped, the 2d commissioned art side of thing between furries and hentai is pretty neck and neck if not furries pulling ahead, but the lewd figure community is still almost exclusively just anime inspired, we've only recently started making headway on the furry side of things.
And we know furries will pay for stuff like this, it's just got to be made and marketed. A lot of furries already get other types of figures or physical media like whatever anime they like or wargame miniatures.

I just used the eye movement tool to lightly press on the whites of her eyes. They popped out without much resistance which surprised me since the eyes felt a little too tight when I first went to move them around.

Only toys I've seen for 2 were fast food tie in toys at Sonic, the Youtooz plushies, some cheap claw machine type plushies, and limited edition drink cups from the theater with detachable figurines. Which weirdly isn't really any worse than the first movie, except the Youtooz plushies are higher quality than anything they put out for the first movie.

I think Dreamworks in general has had a hard time getting merchandise deals, outside of Shrek. Shrek had an action figure line but it was, oddly enough, from McFarlane. I'm sure kids bought them but they were more focused on adult collectors with piss poor articulation which was typical for McFarlane back then. Only the first Kung Fu Panda movie had an action figure line iirc, and it was typical pre-posed action gimmick stuff.

Movie tie in lines are in general a bit of a gamble but who knows, maybe if the Youtooz plush toys for The Bad Guys 2 sell well we might see some interest from a higher end figure manufacturer. It might mean the toys cost $60 instead of $30 but I'd pay it.

Hopefully we see more upgrade kits like this for various other classes. I'd love to gear her up with some light plate armor and the classic adventurer sword and board combo. And grabbing upgrade kits is way more cost effective then getting a whole new figure with a different load out.

Ironically they just revealed a literal cow girl, yet the cowboy outfit isn't even for her.

Be aware that the jacket is probably going to disintegrate within a year or two since it seems to be made of faux leather. This stuff is the seamless equivalent of soft goods, I hate it so much.
