I like cars but there's only so many cars you can build before you get bored. It's different from Hot Wheels because you can actually play with those, you can't put a brick car on a race track I have no fucking clue how Lego's car lines are so popular.

MEGA is not a household name. Megaconstrux was a weird turn but still ok-ish because of all the Halo hype around it. Truth is Megabloks has always been niche, just take a look at the community of people who collected some of the most popular themes like Dragons and Pyrates. It is completely dwarfed by the amount of people who collected older Lego themes like Castle, all the space themes, early Star Wars, and so on.
Don't even get started on the literally who sets like Alien Agency, which while cool in concept and execution were terrible quality.
There's a reason why to date if you look up ANYTHING Mega online it's almost all Halo or CoD. While I love my Dragons and Pyrates sets, they had major issues with the plastic quality they used. Hands were very prone to breaking off, legs often became loose quite easily, and all manner of small pieces just broke down. There's also the fact that they used very specialized building pieces which, while cool, made it complicated to just tear apart and rebuild whatever you wanted. It's a trade-off that gave Mega more soul but removed the MOC factor a bit. Mega hasn't had a successful original theme in years, and the IPs they get don't pack enough of a punch.
