BBTS actually standing by their commitment to not pass on extra charges to customers

I mean, they're still one of the worst domestic stores to buy from when it comes to higher priced imports, but good on them for not gouging even more, I suppose.

Verifiably false. I just got an email today that they're upping the price of an import EVEN MORE than the last one just a month or two ago. Its good that they over estimated for you and correctly decreased the charge, but they most definitely have jacked it up last time and I paid that full price last time. We'll wait and see about this next one, but its looking to be the case as the pre orders for the new additions to the line are at the new higher price as well.

Amazon's not charging tariffs besides what they bake into the price, charge about the same as BBTS and have free shipping.
Kappahobby and Eknightmedia are cheaper than BBTS, have free shipping, and no sales tax.
With $4 shipping, sales tax, and a tariff fee you don't know how much it'll be until your figure's ready to ship, BBTS's still a last resort for me for imports.

their prices are still wack. I feel like if shippers started calculating the tariff properly, it would still be cheaper to import yourself than buy from bbts.

A lot of sites also increased prices once de minimis ended which is scummy because it's not like the $800 affects them at all when they order in bulk

I've been finding it's so hit and miss with them. They'll list stuff as "includes tariff charge" and other stuff as "excludes tariff charge" except it's the same company. So WTF isn't it just one or the other? Then there's the stuff with no message at all, that may or may not trigger a surprise price hike message the day before it arrives. Also often from the same company. It's like nobody knows what's going on from day to day.

The surprise buttfucking (not the tariff, the jacked up shipping and ludicrous fee collection fees) from DHL, FedEx, and UPS on stuff out of Japan or Canada (but, for some reason, not China) is pushing me back to BBTS as a one-stop shop. But as hard as everything is hitting, on every front, I think I'm still going to be ordering maybe half as much as before.

Are you fucking retarded? The entire point is that they're charging you *the tariff* whether it's higher or lower than what they anticipate because shit is changing every few weeks, and back when they put this into place it was literally changing every few days. There's nothing false about it, and OP posted receipts of them getting a lower price.

Do you think every single toy all comes from magical santa out of the same bag at the same time from the same country for the same price? Goddamn fucking retards.

My problem with Crapazom (at least as far as toys are concerned) is the fact that the are charging sliding prices on toys - with many things being marked well above MSRP simply because their algorithm is showing them that people will PAY THOSE HIGHER PRICES, which forces people to buy at those prices, since that's the availability.

Entertainment Earth and BBTS occasionally will have a few items higher than retail list from the toy seller, but the price remains stable from first day of sale till they sell out. And they will sell things like damaged card/damaged clamshell, items at below retail, where Crapazom will send you that shit at full retail. ToyWhiz marks up everything but i don't think they have the buying power to be able to do more. They are essentially a glorified EBAY storefront.

I think Target (when it's available), Game Stop and Best Buy (at least for the toys I consider and buy) are the only on-line toy sellers that sell (and keep) prices at MSRP. And BB has a limited selection so they are rarely an option for most collectors.

aren't they still passing it along though? they've flat-out said they would, and this merely says "it was LESS than we thought" which means they overestimated it. kinda like they did with the zoids transformers crossover.
in the first place, they should have just ignored this, knowing it was going to change and be canceled anyway.

Changing day to day is a stretch, but it really was changing week to week often. Its kind of hard to commit to eating costs when no one knows what the hell they were going to be 6 months to a year out when the figures came around. Especially since both the US and China were throwing shitfits with tariffs approaching nearly 200% at one point.

Oh joy, another tariff thread. Always remember that the tariff is paid BY THE EXPORTER/SHIPPING COMPANY/IMPORTER/RETAILER first, before the toy ever reaches the shelf, not by the customer. These companies could easily split the tariff up BETWEEN THEMSELVES and have it never touch the consumer with very little out of their pocket. But they don't. Because they need to pass million dollar bonuses around to their board members.

It sucks BBTS can't get their exporter/shipper to cover any of the tariffs but that's on them to renegotiate fees and terms. I love imported figures. I want Guyver, SNK, Mortal Kombat, Megaman, etc stuff but I realize my nation is more important than something sitting on my shelf for cheap. If I really wanted a figure and can't find a good price I could eat the tariff. However I have self control and don't waste my money, so I just won't consume imported goods.

That's both a pro and con of Amazon, though. They've got a fair amount of figures that end up lower than MSRP as well in the first few months after they come out or price dropped because of being overstocked. To be fair to BBTS, they can also have pretty good sales on domestics sometimes.

>>11593846
Uh, no? I have no idea who you're talking about and it's pretty batshit that you think only one person can recognize they're a bad place to buy imports from.

Gamestop upcharges a lot now. Look at any of their McFarlanes, they're all like 2-3 bucks above MSRP. Target occasionally upcharges now too but they don't go crazy with it like Amazon and Walmart...yet.

The figures sitting in the USA right now ALREADY have their tariffs paid for. If you don't buy them, the companies eat the tariffs and lose money. I don't know if you're stupid or dishonest but we don't get hit with some sort of magical-money-drain-beam because tariffs exist.

If you mean MSRPs are going up, which is on the manufacturer end, then I decide either to pass due to that or buy if it's worth it. If you mean the algorithmic up-charging that companies have begun doing, it's a good thing we have tools like camelcamelcamel and memories to tell us what is an upcharge, and not buy anything up-charged.

I'm not sure what you mean by local stores, but "buy local" and "Support Mom 'n Pop shops" is a literal meme. I used to always buy from small local toy and comic shops, but they always mark shit up above everyone else. The one comic shop I used to frequent always had a pretty good selection of figures, but they were charging $30 for Hasbro figures even back a few years ago when they were still $22-$23. There is no way I am going to buy from them when we're already balking at a $28 retail point, which means they'll probably be marking them up to $35 now.

Question for toy-knowers: does BBTS sometimes just infinitely roll over pre-orders to say it's happening the next month and not tell you it's been cancelled?
Anonymous No.11600116 [Report] >>11600123
>>11600057
Yes they keep it rolling over if it's delayed, but eventually they will email you to let you know once they have 100% confirmation from the manufacturer/distributor that they won't be getting stock.
But sometimes, just when you swear your preorder is never going to be fulfilled and it's cancelled but they haven't told you, they surprise you. I had the Axytoys Rex on preorder for well over a year, and god knows how long ago the Chinese retailers got it in. I swore it was never going to arrive and I'd be getting that email, but it arrived last month.
