Poor's are literally too dumb to compute anything outside what Hollywood tells them "THIS IS WHAT RICH DO". It's like when people are surprised to run into a millionaire or someone making bank working abroad in a hostel.

As long as I have a window seat I am happy since I can rest my head against the hull.
As long as I have a private room in a hostel I am fine since I can book a love hotel around the corner when needed.

The main reason I am still rich is because I'm not blowing a grand here and there on something that only affects me slightly. Needs vs. wants etc etc.

Who needs a day to recover? LMAO. If I'm feeling tired and want to take a nap at 3 PM, or noon, or 6 PM, I take a fucking nap, then wake up whenever I wake up and hit the streets. Stay awake til I get tired, then go the fuck back to sleep. Who cares if it's 10 PM or 3 AM? Nothing is inherently wrong with it but it's a much worse experience than business class. Faster bag drop, security, lounge, boarding, lay flat, food etc etc. Same as driving a beat up old car vs a new one. They'll both get you there but the experience will be better in the new car.

I fly economy because I prioritize value in flying over comfort. Humans were never meant to be able to travel at 50,000mph across the earth like this. Jet lag is the cost you pay. I have some tricks to combat flight. Like chugging red bulls. flying economy is part of the experience. Theres only so many seats in "business". we cant all fly business. The way you fly in economy makes sense in the heads of the engineers who control commercial flight. People that demand Business class sound like a bunch of bitches and retards.

I am comfortable with money but not rich. I still wouldn't fly economy long distance, life is just not worth the fucking stress of lining up everywhere and spending 12 hours in those conditions.

occasionally, maybe, but generally, no
i used to work for a reasonably large tech company and there was one director who would occasionally travel to another country and would be very vocal in pointing out when he was going in economy class (i think he even posted it on linkedin a couple of times)
he did this to (a) show everyone what a budget conscious team player he was and (b) to try to shame and discourage the rest of us who were also frequent travellers from taking advantage of the company's travel policy which stated that long haul travellers could travel in business class (with some limitations)
of course on every other occasion he was also travelling in business or first class and i suspect that even on the trips where he claimed to be going in economy he was probably upgrading with points or something.
as for me i will take business class on long haul every time if i can, even if i am paying myself
>>2779869
if you think business class is just about "cutting the line" you have obviously never travelled frequently on long haul business. it is about the whole experience, from the limo pickup from your home to having your luggage dropped at your hotel at your destination. the time on the plane is only part of it but i guess it is the main part that the people behind the magic curtain see.

no, but i do use them reasonably regularly. i'm from the uk and i regularly travel to apac so they are a pretty convenient airline to use.
you are correct that not every airline offers every service by default but most will offer some kind of extended service to premium travellers. even on the most basic business class flight there is still more to the experience than just the time on the plane.

in which case yes you have probably made the right decision. clothes and furniture are indeed necessary for a reasonable life. as long as you are making the decision to buy good quality items that you will actually use (rather than just being one of the sad sacks who sells their branded rags at pawn shops for a fraction of their original cost like i see on youtube)
not everyone is in the same situation. some people can afford to both clothe themselves and travel in premium classes

No one has infinite money and its necessarily taking away from something else you could be buying. It only really doesn't matter at extremely high income levels. You would have to be making 5+ million dollars a year to really never think about the cost of business class. On some flights its 800 dollars round trip economy and 14k business class. Even at 5 million a year 14k on a flight is a lot. Also you have a higher probability of dying in the front of the plane.

if only you were smart enough to use a currency symbol
but as a quick experiment i did a search for flights from london to tokyo at the beginning of july and returning at the end of the month. i filtered out nasty chinese airlines and a few others, and i wasn't bothered if it was heathrow or gatwick at my end, or narita or haneda at the other end
i found tickets on cathay pacific for about £900 in economy and on lufthansa for about £2800 in business class. of course these are both indirect- CX changing in hong kong, LH in frankfurt- but i can live with that.
conclusion : you are talking out of your butt
also now i'm thinking of spending july in tokyo

Business/First is quite expensive, if youre fine throwing your money away, thats cool, good for you, but if youre not an idiot, and you arent just larping as a rich person, you should be getting upgrades for free through loyalty accounts (the best way), or purchase seats using credit card points, which you of course do various tricks with to stretch the miles as far as possible by taking advantage of transfer bonuses etc.

Blowing thousands of dollars just to sit in a tiny lie flat chair bed and eat what is a glorified Hungry Man meal with a fork and knife is not a wise money move. Rich people have a tendency to save money wherever possible. Sure, they will splurge on a nice watch or car when they feel like it, but overall they are always trying to hoard their money. Utilizing AMEX miles wisely is one of the best ways of doing this. Shelling out thousands of dollars for next to no reason is not.

It costs 70,000-120000 miles to fly JAL first class one way, one of the best in the sky. Massive seat, 43” screen, Michelin star food, 1000 dollar a bottle champagne etc. Thats basically a credit card promotion. How much does that ticket cost one way? 10-20,000 dollars.

If you spend that much, even if you drink 2 bottles of pricey champagne, it still isnt worth it. Using miles? Now thats more than worth it. In fact, its probably the best possible use of your miles, pound for pound.

you're going in the complete wrong direction with your argument

i spend money for comfort
the more uncomfortable the more i am willing to spend, the duration doesn't matter much
if it's okayish i might be less inclinde to spend
but economy is incredible uncomfortable (as a really tall person), so i'm willing to spend a lot to make that go away
that psychology will be more or less the same for most people that fly business

>costs 70,000-120000 miles to fly JAL first class
>Thats basically a credit card promotion
what? not in my country
if i'm clever, with my current CC and bonus points that amount of points is ~20k spend
and I fly like 6-10x rt / year
so i'd need up to 2,4mio miles
yeah... i think i need to pay cash for most flights

man, how poor people argue over biz or not is sad.
economy, business, it doesn't matter, you get there.
+4 years working for an airline in tech, I just show up last minute at the gate, give chocolates to the gate agent, introduce myself to the cabin crew and i take any seat, I've done polaris biz, iad-hnd, innagural in economy ua sfo-mnl, HA biz sea-nrt, and more.

it doesn't matter, you fly, you get off the plane, etc. oh ya, and of course if I'm lying with my company, its free, if id90/myidtravel, i had to pay $50 for economy or $100 for business.

tl;dr who the fuck cares, a seat is a seat, playing these games is how the airline wins.

meh, my best was 10x trips seattle>jp in a month, cc points are another scam too.

if you want to really fuck around and pretend you can fly standby, the frontier gowild pass is the best deal out there, if you want to fuck with credit cards and miles, get the barclay card, get your free 2 bags (up to 40lb normie) and then book last min flights from the main ports ORD/LAX/SEA/SFO, etc

ah I think the problem is that i'm from Europe
the best one I can get here is miles&more + payback in terms of points
yields on avg for me 1€ ~ 5 miles
but the more I spend typically the less points, as big purchase don't have multiples
so even in good years I maybe get half a million points / miles
had an amex plat for a while, but didn't help much

europe means also no gowild pass (isn't frontier ultra low budget anyway?)
standby is dead for 20y+ (unless you're an employee) and so is last minute booking

>a few plane rides that will be over within 24h at most
There's a reason you are poor with nothing to show for it and they are not.

>How? The normal m&m credit cards are around 1e-1m.
with payback
you can convert 4point -> 5miles (limited time)
up to 300k points (but changes)

then you need the payback coupons
7x Aral, 15x Alnatura, 15x Edeka etc.
just the car fuel alone can be like 40k miles / year for me and gf
obviously coupons are not on everything
but you still get miles with the credit card anyway and regular payback, so double

add the couple business class flights every year paid cash and you get to half a million

Those designer bags are all made in China with Chinese materials. You're just paying for the name slapped on it

Bullshit you can book JAL first class from
North America to Japan for 20k points, that would mean your currency is 3x stronger than the dollar and I know it isnt.

If youre saying 20k spending on a card is the equivalent of 70k points then that actually makes sense, if you spend 20k in a category where you earn 4 points/dollar (like Amex gold at restaurants, etc)

>If youre saying 20k spending on a card is the equivalent of 70k points
this is exactly what i meant
only that amex is pretty shit in Germany and I gotta do it through payback
and 20k€ spend is more like ~100k miles

also never flew JAL
always out of Frankfurt with Lufthansa (gotta collect for that Lifetime Senator status)
or Star Alliance, which has ANA

I got a free upgrade to business class for a trip to Asia so I get it, it’s nice, but no way am I dropping $8k for a round trip flight on business class. Such a retarded waste of money. You can get 4 Gucci bags for that price, which should tell you how retarded of a waste of money that is.
