There are often debates on whether you should go Business class or Economy but what about Premium Economy? The perfect middle-ground or worst of both worlds?

If you do recommend Premium Economy, which airliner is the best in this regard?

It's the worst of both worlds. You pay 2x Econ for it, it's barely a upgrade and doesn't even come close to business in any regard.
It's the business product of 1996 just minus food quality and service.
I'm sure this product only exists for companies so they can save shekels and still pretend "it's premium cabin thihihi" and talk about

It's great if you don't want to sit near jeets, nigs, or europoors. Other benefits may be minimal.

I find that premium economy is good enough in a lot of cases. I don't need a lie flat seat, but regular economy seats are very cramped.

just pay for an exit row if you need the leg room

>The perfect middle-ground or worst of both worlds?
really depends on the price and carrier
personally I really like it
recently flew Frankfurt - Beijing rt for only ~200โ‚ฌ more (~30% more compared to base)
which would have been my seat reservation cost for regular economy...

it's basically what economy should be
but I wouldn't pay double the fare for it

>seat reservation is 200 EUR?
on long haul routes, with extra legroom
yes it can easily be 100โ‚ฌ+ per leg for the seat reservation (obv. carrier dependent)
even for regular seat reservation, you're often looking at 40-80โ‚ฌ+/leg

From my home airport it is very rarely worth it.
Business is not meaningfully more expensive on most carriers, and I have often seen premium get higher fares than biz.
I mean that is because there are less W seats compared to J and lots of companies have the policy where you are not allowed to book J for business travel, so praying on that I guess.

what retarded trend is this. what is the "business" in "business class" supposed to stand for then

is business just going to replace first class (already happening with all the sliding doors and spacious sofas for seats etc. on major airlines) and premium econ will replace business? what the fuck even is the point of all this shit then?

>is business just going to replace first class
It used to trend towards that since the introduction of Quatar qsuites, but it might be reversing nowadays.
For example, Air France just unveiled their new first class and they will be replacing some J seats with it on some of their aircraft to make it more available.
Lufthansa's new Allegris cabins also feature a first class too.

Companies not letting employees buy business is just beancounter nonsense, but has the consequence of making premium a lot more expensive than it should be.

So the general rule is that premium economy is only worth it if it is around 50% or less then regular economy and if it is 2 times more expensive, it is better to go business class? Got it.

>>2790805

I'll keep that in mind. Any other airliners with good premium economy? Is KLM good for example?

>>2790452

Those are often relatively expensive too, aren't they?

What do you guys think of The Poor Man's Business Classโ„ข?

It's when you have an entire row of Economy seats to yourself. Either by actually paying for the seats, or just by getting lucky and boarding an underbooked flight.

Product varies from plane to plane within an airline so you canโ€™t just rely on an airline. Youโ€™ll always want to check the route, see what plane flies it, and see what the configuration is on that plane for that airline.

Complete n00b here if I got a coach seat across the Atlantic do I get leg room? I was scared I might not get any and it made me want to buy Premium Economy but I would rather spend my meager funds on travel stuff.

this literally looks almost as good as business class on some airlines, pic related is lufthansa with their old configuration. it's fucking ridiculous how "business class" ranges from premium economy with lounge (like on some euro airlines) to the private suites you get on Qatar, ANA, Air France etc.

To be fair that shit should have been off all Lufthansa planes years ago but they're so far behind in the Allegris rollout it's a joke. This is what they're replacing it with.

I just flew KLM business class yesterday, and the premium econ seat were right behind me. They didn't look all that bad except for the 2-4-2 layout. I would only consider paying for it flying international. When I went from Orlando to London in January on Virgin Atlantic their premium economy was pretty solid. It was way comfier than cattle class for the long flight.

Business class is only worth it on long range flights from NA-EU to Asia for example because the planes tend to be newer and the business class package is all around better.

Air France and Austrian Airlines business class from EU to Canada for example were basically premium economy with a few more perks, very old layouts and questionable food. The only real perk is that you could lay down to sleep. Emirates from Malta to Dubai had similar dated business class arrangements.

NA to EU and vice versa uses older planes so the business class arrangement will vary a lot, you are playing russian roulette and you either will get a nice private lounge seat with all the perks or a fucking premium economy seat with half the perks and absolutely shit food.

none of these pics are actually of premium economy. premium economy isn't a wider seat or a footrest or a center console, it's literally just a few more inches of legroom.

you're thinking of extra legroom seats, which are not a different class but just the same economy seat with spaced differently/

For example, on UA, Economy Plus is the extra legroom seat, while Premium Select is premium economy. Confusingly, when such an aircraft configured to have both is on a domestic flight, the Premium Select (premium economy) is sold as Economy Plus as is free to status holders. This is obviously not normal, only when aircraft need to reposition
