Does this seem like a good itinerary? Is it feasible for me to take ferries until I reach Tallinn, and then take trains or busses?
Also talk about your experiences in these cities. I'm still young and would like to meet people and have fun nights out. I've heard that Helsinki is "boring" but I don't care, I want to see it anyway.

4 nights Stockholm
2 nights Visby
2 nights Helsinki
3 nights Tallin
3 nights Riga
2 nights Vilnius

Yes definitely. Have you thought of doing Aland instead of Gotland? It seems like a more straightforward ferry route from Stockholm to Helsinki. I am biased because I find the Baltic ferries boring af lol.

I visited Tallinn more than 5 times, and stayed over a month once. It's probably my favorite city in the whole world.

That's a great idea that I hadn't considered, thanks. I'll look into Aland, it's definitely more on the way, and might be more interesting than Gotland since it's a little nation of its own.

getting through the baltics can be annoying since there is only the busses from Tallinn until Riga or Vilnius i believe, but it's very cheap and there's always one going. But the night life is fun, especially in the baltics. have fun :) i'm sure you wish you'd stay longer for the nightlife

I have two weeks to spend in the Baltics at the end of June.
I am flying into Tallinn and will work my way down to Lithuania where I will fly out of.
>does anyone have any suggestions?
>is it true that Estonia is the cheapest of the Baltics?
I am there because I had to change country to apply for another visa so I’m trying to do things cheap so it won’t be a full travel trip like normal
>public transport between and within each country is decent enough yeah?
>are these countries /out/ and are their any good day trips?

I'm from Tallinn, great town in the summer, I hope you will have fun. Nightlife is down a lot since covid though, on weekdays it's pretty dead, but in the summer it will be better. For outdoorsy stuff maybe you could go for a bog trip. If the weather is nice Pärnu is worth checking out (beach town). Public transport is good, even the buses to Riga are pretty comfy with screens etc.

I've restructured the trip to exclude Gotland/Mariehamm because I really want to get a weekend in stockholm and a weekend in Riga.
Hopefully Tallinn will be active on Thursday night in July, but if not, it's not a big deal since I'll be heading to Riga right after

Shit last August i flew into Tallin and walked around for a couple days and then bussed to Riga only for 1 night and stayed at a shitty hostel with loser roomates(im also a loser , i know) . I fell in love with a girl that looked like one of my ex gfs but better, i was going to tell her shes gorgeous and looked like my ex but she was gone when i walked back :(
I had a real good mead in the old town and wished i stayed longer,
Then i went to Villnius for a couple days and then to Warsaw for a couple days. I was then gunna go to Tokyo but realized im a retard and it would be way to hot
I wanna go back to Riga this summer

That sounds like the most boring trip ever, lol. Cityhopping is shit and repetitive. Mix it up, ffs.
What are you actually doing in these places? If your answer is the same thing in every city, then just lol.
Have a purpose for being somewhere, not just being an iphone goy consumer slave who wants to '''''see the sights''''' and drink at the same ikea-laden cafe bars.

>oh no you can't say its a shit plan!

City hopping is absolutely gash. You're repeating the same leg multiple times. OP should be thinking about what actually is unique about these places, and how can he fully experience it.

The Baltic, off the top of my head, offers:
>Get rekt on Estonia-Finland ferry
>Sailing and camping on Stockholm archipelago
>Cycling on Hel Peninsula & Gdansk
>Experiencing Finnish lakes and saunas
>Estonian bogs

etc

Staying in the same airbnb tier accom with a lockbox, eating in the same ikea cafe, around the same looking market square, while taking your similarly themed walking tour x10 is such a waste.

Oh please, everyone travels differently.
I love walking through cities, visiting museums and churches etc. Sitting in public squares. It's just what I enjoy, and what I have time for.
Also, who's to say I won't do those things or similar while I'm there? I love day trips, I'd be interested in an Estonian bog.
And, all these cities are different, not the same.

I'm doing something similar myself but traveling by car. I've got the rest of my itinerary done, but I need to figure out what stops to make on my way from Vilnius to Tallinn. I have two nights to get there and then spending a night in Tallinn, so two pitstops are needed. I want to see Tartu at least, but is there any place in Latvia on the way besides Riga that would be nice to see?

>are these countries /out/ and are their any good day trips?
Helsinki has a reindeer reserve in the Nuuksio national part right outside the city. Estonia has Kaali crater. Both of them are located near campgrounds in national parks.
>is it true that Estonia is the cheapest of the Baltics?
It is the most expensive. Still way cheaper than any of the Nordics
>public transport between and within each country is decent enough yeah?
Technically its private, but Flixbus will take you between cities in the Baltics and Eastern Europe. In Finland you should take the VR trains.

Depends really, usually the trains are very expensive and not that much faster than going by bus, so I also recommend checking Onnibus as well as it's usually much cheaper than what train tickets can be.

Summertime night life in tallin and riga is great, especially riga. There are alwsys new cool places in riga poppin up and closing down at end of summer so you need to keep up date where the fun stuff is going on. 5yr old posts from on google and tripadvisor wont be any help. Ask the local hipsters when you meet them. I only know about these places when i ask my hippy friend. No idea about current stuff though, sorry.

For quick /out stuff - Gauja national park has lots dayhikes with amazing scenery. The whole Latvia coastline is also great public land sand beaches. On way down from estonia you can visit Saulkrasti for great relaxing beach and swimming stuff. Has been a cold spring so the water is pretty cold for now thought. In Estonia all the beaches are shitty rocks or cliffs, in Lithuania all the beaches ar fenced off private property. Coolest little city in Latvia is Kuldīga, a bit awey from riga, but worth it for a day if possible. One of the rare small towns that survived both wars intact and has waterfall in middle of the town. My favorite town in all the baltics.

Be aware - prices have gone way up, Baltics pretty much are almost as expensive as nordic countries.
Public tranport in Riga is pretty shitty. In Tallin and Vilnus its much better.

I recently booked private rooms in four southern Lithuanian cities for under $40 USD per night. Decent locations too, as I never use taxi/rideshare services. Most rooms are pricier of course, but still not quite Scandi tier.

the city is built on the archipelago but there are ships that will take you further out

you could probably visit some abandoned costal artillery facility, a integral part of the Swedish total defense during the cold war, intended to halt the soviet advance

I went to Jurmala last summer. Most disappointing thing I've ever seen. The coastline was full of algae for about 20-30 feet until you get to the deeper parts. It was a very dirty beach. Also, I get that it's a sea, but wasn't really much of waves.

If you can somehow hack it, go to a quieter beach. I was at a beach almost right at the border between Latvia and Estonia (the Estonia side was swampland), and while it did have algae, it was much cleaner and had barely anyone there. I have no idea how you'll get there via public transit though.

I am having a decent time, desu all 3 countries are quite similar, although Estonia definitely feels like the most wealthy/put together nation. I have just been booking 5 days in the capital, spend 1-2 days roaming the city and then booking day trips across the country via public transport. Public transport is a breeze here btw and very very cheap. Riga is a fun city, had some nice food and did some fun stuff with people from the hostel.

I have found there isn't much to do in the small towns and they are just worth a day visit (in my opinion)
