It's a very chill, relatively wealthy and well-serviced first world country. No real safety / health issues, decent public transport / railway network and if you have a Schengen visa / EU citizenship you'll be able to move in and out with no problems. Most young people in the country know at least a little bit of English (in big cities especially they're usually at least somewhat fluent), but people who look old enough to remember the USSR are likely to only speak Russian as a second language (as is the standard in Eastern Europe). There really isn't anything specific you *need* to know, beyond basic common sense (for example iirc Lyme disease is relatively widespread in the countryside, so be mindful of ticks if you plan on hiking / staying outdoors).
