I have no passport and haven't been abroad since 2011. I have never [properly] travelled alone. I have £12,000 in the bank. What should my course of action be over the next few months to arrange an enjoyable holiday for next Summer?
get passport (some countries do you need a non-relative to vouch for you?)
think of what you would enjoy on a holiday - a specific site or activity to go to or a general setting/vibe?
look when you can get time off to go on holiday
look up what transport is available to what destinations (keep in mind if you want to go to some poor shit country there may be weird visa rules, but a brit to europe is generally no big deal, tho they may need to sign up for some easy to get visa next year ETIAS? like going to USA needing an ESTA. if you are an upstanding citizen from a first world country looking to go on a leisure holiday short term they aren't hard to get.
does the flights/trains in your price range get you near a place you want to go?
knowing what type of holiday you would enjoy, see if there are accommodation available in the area you want to go.
you had a rough idea of a type of trip you'd do, you picked a destination to go, you are looking for what accomodation seems good, in a good enough location for a good enough price.
you start looking what activities, entertainment, food, culture, anything relevant to your interest is available in the location and make a plan if you are worried about these things -nice to have some plan but be flexible to drop it all if something interesting comes up
>>2793288good advice, thanks
anywhere you'd recommend for a visit? I like history, but also any incredible natural wonders
can you still travel in Europe as a brit without passport? cuz I would stay in Europe, the third world shitholes are not worth it where you need a passport
>>2794568Only to Ireland. They'll need a passport for everywhere else.
>>2793223 (OP)If you have only £12k, just go to a European country for 1-2 weeks. Fly budget and take trains. Stay at hostels or cheap airbnbs.
>>2794584>cheap airbnbsLOL, forget that stupid site, unless you are traveling with five plus people. I averaged $30/night booking centrally located budget rooms across northeast Poland on booking dot com. airbnb has nothing close to that rate.
