Planes don't actually fly from Point A to Point B, they actually jump.

Pic is probably from ages ago since they still fly over Russia

You can still fly direct to HK but they'd take you the other direction

You can't even fly to Shanghai directly from any NY airport anymore which really pisses me off

Why doesn't this apply to driving as well? All the roads are straight, shouldn't an arc be better?

On a flat plane it makes no sense, but if you have a brain and know the Earth isn't flat this makes sense.
Its probably going to be able to avoid headwinds and just fly north to go from hong kong to jew york. This requires IQ higher than sand to be able to understand

Planes have to stay within a certain range of an airport for emergency reasons. I'd imagine private jets wouldn't even fly direct like you're imagining.

Stupid fuck.

Guys, the issue isn't that the line is curved. The issue is that Hong Kong is marked on the wrong location.

Hong Kong is located in southern China. OP's image shows it as located in southern Thailand or possibly western Malaysia.

Holy moly did someone move hong kong and not tell anyone?

ok but seriously i was shocked when i found out i could fly to tokyo from atlanta georgia without any stops. and that this was normal. i had never looked into or known much about travelling very far but i always assumed to get to japan from georgia would be 2 planes

the planet is round. its rounded. if you create a sphere with this it would flatten the line out, however it still goes north up into greenland because its safer for the plane in the event of an emergency landing.

There are several military bases with very large runways in Greenland that are cleared of snow and ice year round.

Nope, it goes that way since it's shortest. Denver to Istanbul passes through the Arctic as well.

how so. If you take the flat earth and have the north pole as the center. The plane flies in a straight line over greenland to hongkong.

Cathay still flies over Russia, albeit Eastern Russia only (mainland airlines overly all of Russia).

Boston, Toronto and New York are all still great circle flights for Cathay. It's the American carriers that can't, so have to take the long way.

lol did you not get it?
its bendy because its a wrong unravelled round earth.
The bend correlates with the line I made. All cities being flown over are identical

Every post that's ever made on 4chan has been made on purpose. Even if it's a joke, some grown-ass man actually made the effort to type it up and click "Submit." Nothing here happens by accident.
