Crossing the border is really scary now. I went to the to cross into the US border some months ago at 4am, I was pretty much the only car there. The guard in the booth seemed friendly enough with me until they saw my passport, where I was still legally male at the time, and then the tone instantly changed and they asked me to pull over to the inspection area. A border cop came over and asked me to step out, leave my phone unlocked in the car and go inside the building next to me. I went inside and waited in the waiting area for like 15 minutes, the waiting area was pretty much empty, there were just a few cops inside and nobody else.

After a bit, 2 guards came up to me and said they had to search me for weapons, and they walked me over to a hallway next to the room I was waiting in, and started frisking me, and then one of them grabbed my dick and balls and squeezed super hard for about 30 seconds and I almost fell to my knees from the pain, which caused one of them to chuckle. Then they grabbed my boobs hard too for a bit and touched me in other places, obviously not a routine frisk... When they stopped my heart was going like a million bpm. I looked around the L shaped hallway we were in, and realized it was a camera blind spot, which is why they brought me there.

Yes if you show up to CBP, admit to drug use or something that could bar you from entry they will often want to go through your electronics. That's any country.
