Here we share our unfiltered advice for staying cheaply longterm in countries.

Certain land borders in Thailand accept a small fee in exchange for virtually guaranteed reentry into Thailand with firstie passport. You don't need to work with a 3rd party service and it's just a 1.5hr motorbike ride from an airport that's cheap to fly to.

What advice do you guys have for staying year round in Thailand or any country for that matter? I heard Taiwan is good for a US visa holder. Vietnam also?

They leave a glaring paper trail, anon. This can fuck your shit up down the road. Besides, Thailand sucks. Get your 90 days in, then go find some other place to stay.

Lol. Oh no, they force me to take a 2 week vacation. Also they don't refuse you at my border stop. Pay the fee and be kind.

>What advice do you guys have for staying year round in Thailand or any country for that matter?
Don't.
You go out and see the other countries and not limit yourself to one, especially thailand, shithole.

My setup is pretty easy
60-90 Days in Japan(usually spring)
30-60 Days in Korea (shitty months/Seasons)
30-90 Days In Taiwan or split between PH depending which way the wind blows
45-80 Days in Europe
45-90 Days in Malaysia if I need to space out or visa reset things
Hawaii for 30 days out of the year so GoogleFi can stop being a fucking bitch about being outside the USA

Thailand is so boring after a few weeks I don't get why you would want to stay longer in that hellscape unless you're a coomer/retard or poorfag.

I tried that but moving around is a pain. I like having a nice office chair and cooking utensils. I'm not a manchild so I can't stand living in a hotel for more than a week. And yes, I'm also poor but even when I had money, it was stressful having to find places every 3 months. Year leases in Thailand are dirt cheap that 2 months deposit is like a week in a hotel

>I'm a manchild so I can't stand living in a hotel for more than a week.
FTFY

If you get winded from moving every 30-60 days or so LMAO, fucking hell you're either fat or retarded; maybe both. Not sure what shits you are staying in but 30-31 days usually gets you the best prices in booking site be it agoda/airbnb. Book an apartment, get all the comforts of home, enjoy the area, and move to see something new. What's the point being abroad if you're just staring at the computer screen and living in roach dens to go "kek got it living abroad!".

> And yes, I'm also poor but even when I had money, it was stressful having to find places every 3 months. Year leases in Thailand are dirt cheap that 2 months deposit is like a week in a hotel
Ever consider travel isn't for you poorfag? Time to move back home with mommy if you're that poor, for real up your skillset for something that pays better. I'm all for people trying to make the best of what they have but that's legit bottom of the barrel begpack level.

but if you're hell bent on coomering in thailand i recommend finding a long term rental just outside bangkok expat areas for a good deal, then you can take short trips to pattaya, hua hin, koh samui, chang mai etc...

bangkok is a hell hole though, super crowded, traffic, low air quality, oppressive heat, i'd rather spend my time da nang for cheaper and relatively more chill or go explore other places

If you're a poorfag the answer should really be clear
>Go to Thailand
>spend 60 days on the visa
>fly to Malaysia for dirt cheap
>Spend 90 days there living probably cheaper than Thailand given the economy these days
>fly back to Thailand
>spend 60 days
>rinse and repeat

Kuala Lumpur is a bit expensive(compared to say Chang Mai) but there are plenty of cheap decent places around it for <400/mo full studio. Food is dogshit cheap.

I don't see how that's cheaper than a year lease in Thailand. My condo is $300/mo, electric is $60. I'm poor as in I budget myself as cheaply as possible as I lost over $1M in 2021 crypto crash. I have $150k in bitcoin. Also if I started noticably spending money Thailand might be interested in collecting taxes from me.

Anyway it's 4am and I'm responding to this thread so clearly something is off but I'm just sharing what works for me and is cheap. I really don't see how you could live more cheaply a westerner at the QoL I have or would have if I had any friends. I didn't know this thread would be so unpopular but I guess Thailand is cracking down on something that was once widespread.

You've rented somewhere decent for $400/mo, 3mo term near KL all utilities no deposit? I'm curious how you're getting these short term deals without a deposit. If my visa runs get stopped then that's my contingency. Also what is there to do in the outskirts of KL that makes it vaslty more interesting than Thailand?

Dude you can get 160/mo all utilities included private room with shared kitchen/tv room easy. KL is stupid fucking cheap. 2x90 day visa's allowed for most US citizens, just using Airbnb no bullshit haggling deposit other BS required.

Personally, I do shit like this usually the kitchen and shower down the hall. Not a big issue for me, I shower at the gym and kitchen being shared is a meh thing.

> Also what is there to do in the outskirts of KL that makes it vaslty more interesting than Thailand?
Malaysia is so cheap you can do pretty much anything you can think of, though if you're on your last 150k it's really time to pack up and head home kid. Not a coomer traveler so Malaysia is perfect to focus on some work, gym focus, and just cheap thrills of tours. For 400 you have to live a bit outside the main city but it's possible to get a meh hotel room for ~300/mo all utils included stayed in one before.

Are you Indian? Kudos to you if you can stay there for 3mo then move onto the next one but I can't do it. What are you cooking exactly in a shared kitchen at a place like that? I'm telling you, I last a week max at a nice hotel. A place like that is 4 hours max.

Yeah sure the place in Thailand you're staying in looks perfect
>What are you cooking exactly in a shared kitchen at a place like that? I'm telling you, I last a week max at a nice hotel
Why I could just eat out in KL for ~5ish dollars a day and be full.
>I'm telling you, I last a week max at a nice hotel. A place like that is 4 hours max.
Nigga you at 150k left trying to fool yourself you got time to live it out. I'm not your travel planner to find you some shit that fits your cup of tea. The smart play here is to get the FUCK back home with that cash and hope to reintegrate to society and the job market before you crash out.

Lemme guess you're going to wait till you hit 100k? Then ehhh well let it go to 50k... Nah only need 25k I can do something back home!

Enjoy being homeless when you eventually crash out.

Such a stupid answer. Have you even executed your longterm plan for more than a few months before returning home? And I have $150k USD. So with my usual $650 monthly expenses that's 19 years of doing this if bitcoin which I'll have other issues by that time. If Bitcoin rises 5% a year then I'm officially retired. I'm not nearly as fucked as you're trying to paint me but you're a troll trying to deter people from living in provincial Thailand so whatever.

Yeah I have a job and my boss doesn't care where I work, I make about 100k year + retirement and benefits. Been nomad for ~6 years only return "home" for a few minor things like IRL company meets and a few other family/friend events.
>o with my usual $650 monthly expenses that's 19 years of doing this if bitcoin which I'll have other issues by that time
Sure and with the expectation prices in asia don't inflate like the rest of the world.
>If Bitcoin rises 5% a year then I'm officially retired
Nigga you lost out on 1 million you going to hold too long and crash out LMFAO, you probably think the 4% rule is still real. You're expecting shit to grow 5% a year and no hiccups, that's just retard mode.
> $150k is a lot for many countries I know but I'm from American and $150k is shit tier wealth
It is a fair bit, but not if you aren't substantially growing capital, investments into yourself, or any kind of retirement. What are you going to do at the end of 19 years with no skillsets to sell or shit to do.

Not to mention what are you doing about your passport renewal? Flying to Guam or home for a renewal isn't very cheap.

150K USD in 10 years isn't going to be the same as 150K USD now anon, you're assuming growth with no equity that you've stated as it's all in the market. Sure as long as 5% increase each year is nice to hope for but I too also just hope the mega millions numbers hit next year for me. Just look how pre/post covid changed the markets in SEA and the US isn't letting up on pulling stuff back. What you're being told is that it's a huge risk to assume bitcoin will only go up and the current here and now of prices will remain the same. Without some kind of passive income to secure your savings you're putting the cart before the horse in your financial outlook.

Maybe you didn't state it but if 150K USD is all you have you're heavily approaching what most be concerned about to get back into the job market to whatever country you end up calling home. Without a secured job or income apartments are either going to want upfront pay or enjoy living in an extended stay full of DV cases in the USA for 1200/mo in the midwest. I hope you left out some information here about alternative income you have because assuming you got this down is going to blow up in your face.

You're one illness, BTC crash, economic change, gaurd asking you what you're really doing and need to pay a higher bribe this time, away from plans changing for something far far worse.

>You're a troll but I still love you
You know not everyone here is a troll right most people here have much more than 150k but didn't neglect to skip a plan for when the bottom falls out.

150k and attempting 20 years is laughable, and a real stupid take. If you're actually trying to NEETMAXX you should be sticking to that 160/mo place lmao. You're in for a real surprise in life when you're 50 and then stuck trying to explain why you need housing and a job with a resume that consists of "coomed for 20 years :D"

Shop in supermarkets for food other than eating out every day. Can save loads.

Try and rent an apartment on facebook other than staying in hotels, which are really expensive in the long run.

Try to find online work to subsidise your stay. Living without work can hurt the wallet.

Try to find a partner to share costs with.

Don't break the law, as fines can cost lots of money, and may even result in deportation.

It's much cheaper to buy beer from the shop than to drink in bars all the time.

Look for coupons and vouchers which give you discounts on purchases.

that's definitely only half of the truth

and only applies if you don't travel low budget anyway

you don't chose all traits of your partner
and the probability of finding someone who's fine sleeping in $5/n hammock/hostel, drinking beer in some cheap back alley bar and getting food from hole-in-the-wall restaurants is pretty low

i really love traveling with my wife!
but my travel cost per night has gone way up since meeting her
even during university when we were both on a budget

not that I'm mad or regret anything, just saying you probably won't save money

If you have 150K in BTC right now keep in mind that's market value as of now.

You should do this cash out half and then secure 75k as your "next 8 year plan" because you haven't thought shit out looking at this thread. Then leave 75k in the markets and see where it goes, as you stated you lose 1m already, so you don't know when to judge the pumps. People telling you it's joever are right, your best bet is

A) get a part time gig remote or not that you bring in cash to extend the life of your "travel" since this is more an /adv/ thread on poorfag living. While you pray the US markets and China keep things hot for BTC to go up.
or
B) you have a 5 year plan to figure things out and at the absolute worst case you spend your last 100K to figure something out to not be a homeless broke retard.

I get you think this is tomorrows problem but as someone who thought that way, you're turning down actual advice that isn't travel related but anons are dishing out freely.

If you're a US visa holder then just cycle 90 days between some countries. Japan->Korea-Taiwan is easy cycle.
In terms of 'visa' hacks to make people not really care
>get t-mobile that allows you to do calls/texts from your PC
>get a router your friend/family that supports OpenVPN for US IP
>outside good shoes don't bother overpacking shirts usually cheaper and easier to buy abroad
>always book at least 1 month for best prices on Airbnb/Agoda
>if you're doing Asia look into getting an Xiaomi/Sony/Apple burner phone for NFC compatibility
>pack an HDMI cable to hook laptops up to a tv for easy second monitor or use a USB-C monitor
>always carry a USB stick with linux/windows bootable ISO for emergencies
>portable desk fan is a must if living in SEA
>smartwatch/band is very useful if digital nomading to keep track of time
>always bring a mousepad as fuck glass desks popular in asia
>vitamins are underrated
>have a revolt or similar card built for travel vs. a US based card.
>always have enough money to get back home and enough to comfortably find work once done traveling if things go south
>always have about 100 USD worth of local currency in CASH for any 'problems' that come up
>always have a 65w capable battery charger for a laptop if and when power goes out in SEA
>invest in a good PC chargeable via USB-C for easy power supply swaps if needed
