When I was a kid, I lived for one year in a village. Our landlord was a scammer who raped his own daughter. Everyone there knew about it and no one did anything.
When my mom slapped his wife out of desperation, she was summoned to court and had to pay a huge fine because the wife was """handicapped""", you understand. Have you seen the movie Deliverance? I don't trust small town people.
Meanwhile, most travellers I've met have interesting stories to tell, things I can learn from, and sometimes I'm sad when they leave after we shared a good time together, but this teaches me nothing in life is eternal.
Some travellers are pretentious cunts, some are snoring loudly in the hostel, but most are fine people who aren't scared of going outside their comfort zone and they can teach you a thing or two, even the zoomer ones. I like travellers.

I travel for work and frequently use the hotel bars to chat with other people who are on business or traveling for business. Most are all well-adjusted responsible people sure maybe a bit eccentric in a few ways but that's not unexpected given the lifestyle.
Stop going to Thailand or Bali then going "wow m8 everyone here on holiday is a fookin nonce!??!"

But that is an ongoing process; you're meeting them part way through the process. You're not meeting the good people because they no longer need to travel. It's not that they never travelled, but their days are over. Now their life can begin.
