I lived in PH for 2yr while making 300k remotely. I would not have wanted to been on some poor person budget.
My place in quezon city was $765/month + electric for a 1bd loft in Megaworld development, $5-10 bike parking per month. That + food + visa is your basic uninsured guy in PH setup I guess. You could drop the housing to $500 if you really wished. I did a ton of domestic travel, dining out, int'l every 2-3 months, hosted events for friends, etc

It is impossible to distinguish the really bad actors from the bad actors. This is like western women going to a bar to see how many free drinks they can get.

If you go to a restaurant with locals, they'll order food in Tagalog without approving it with you, and they'll bring $40+ worth of food to the table all at once and the Filipinos will refuse to pay & they'll say that you have to pay or they're calling the police on you.

I've also had the impression, as others have posted, about them wasting your time on apps. I've experienced what I've felt to be data mining as well. Just the other day, my daughter foot got nibbled on by a group of stray puppies who took up refuge underneath our patio. I had to pay money to get her a rabies vaccine.

Pissed off, I told the neighbor kid to get rid of the puppies. I didn't elaborate on it, I just said get rid of them.

I was there on my couch, and I see him riding away on his bike, with a plastic bag full of puppies. He returns a few moments later.

I was thinking to myself..... damn that was quick. I thought he would take them far away and dump them in the jungle.

Despite Philippines being a 3rd world country, the price of MANY food items are higher than they are in America. Combine that with an average daily wage of 10 dollars, and an absence of government feeding programs like food stamps, and you have malnutrition on a massive scale.

Quite literally 1 out of 3 Filipino children are stunted. That's 33 percent of the population of the Philippines....stunted at childhood, minimizing their brain power.

I could buy a 10 pound bag of steroid Tyson chicken in the USA at walmart for $6.50.....that same bag in the Philippines would cost me nearly 20 dollars!

Cost of chicken legs at local pinoy grocery store: 230 pesos per kilogram

1 kilo=2.2 pounds

10/2.2 = 4.5

4.5 x 230= 1045 pesos

1045 pesos as of today's conversion rate in $18.50

So chicken is 3 times more expensive in the Philippines than in Miami fucking Florida LOOOOOOL

The Philippines has actually put out some pretty good films, most unknown to western audiences. Most of the best ones are from the mid 70's- early 80's, with Lino Brocka undoubtedly being the best director in my opinion.

for me it's cool in almost every city with a population 200k-500k south of manila.
you have everything the guy mentioned and it's way easier to get around than places like manila or cebu.

if you dont mind the crowds, manila bgc or cebu IT park for more modern, western style of living.
something like bacolod or dumaguete(foreigners retirement home, you'll be the only young guy there) are pretty chill.
mindanao was also fine. davao, butuan or cagayan. davao is getting too crowded for my taste.
if you really like people looking at you, then go to leyte or samar. if you like typhoons even more so.
if you like colder weather consider baguio.

you have to save up some cash and go on a 3 month adventure and try to live for a week or 2 in each city, to get a feel of what you really want.
even if you're an introvert and dont engage into random small talk on the street, you'll get a gf here. just present yourself as a normal and reliable guy.

It has nothing to do with me or my comfort. I can live a more comfortable life in another country for cheaper, but I have children.

I don't want my daughter's to go to school with niggers or racist white people and face discrimination. Here, they have an army of people who dote on them and watch over them. They live in a barangay where everyone is basically extended family. My mother is old, and the rest of my family is scattered all through the USA. My wife would be isolated, and I don't want her to come under the influence of niggers or white empowered women. My daughter's will be queens here. They ARE the standard of beauty, and already show advanced intelligence despite their young age. they will have their pick of rich Pinoys, I'm sure. They will eventually inherit someone's land, or simply just take it over.

on booking or agoda you can get decent condos for $20 a day short term. i managed to get luxury ones for $10 a day too. sometimes they just drop the price on the last day, when they're desperate.
