...and already daydreaming of my next trip to Asia, three or four months from now.
Etihad Airways offers NYC to Muscat, Oman for $406 (+ $25 for checked bag upgrade). From Muscat I can fly to Bangkok for as low as $130 with IndiGo. Hell, with India flights so cheap, why not stop in India for a few weeks? They just reduced the visa fees for Americans. Only $25 for a 30 day eVisa.

When are you all heading out of the country next?

That seems fun, I'd like to do the same. Where are you going to be spending the night? I usually just go on booking.com and sort for the cheapest option and select that, but i'm not sure how safe hostels would be

I used to do that for "free" trips, figure out where my layovers would be and then drag my feet there for a few days or more. That's how I've spent time in weird places like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
You'll have a great time in Oman. Good place to car camp for cheap.

I guess ignorance is bliss. I got to see the world when it was still good. Everything is shit now. I stopped traveling because nothing is genuine. Everything is monetized. You aren’t special or interesting. You are the 650 millionth foreigner who’s been there. Have fun taking instagram photos with the crowds of morons. You’ve got nothing to be proud of. You aren’t special. You are just an ignorant child so the turd is new to you.

Johor Bahru was the first major city in five months that I visited. I was not expecting it to be exceptional, but it has a vacant fill lot pushing out into the Strait near the causeway. It should've been a park, but it was only dried-up weeds. Picrel looks across the strait to the Singaporean shore.

The international metro line from JB to Singapore is under construction in the background. The causeway might even be removed sometime soon to allow ship traffic through the Strait once again.

Youtube travel roasties have found Oman. I'm not sure I'd want to spend more than a week there, especially in the winter high season.

Heading to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in a couple of weeks. Will be mainly traveling around the mountains and wilderness.
