I am single male Irish digital nomad in my early 30s, and am looking to relocate somewhere in eastern Europe soon.

Any recommendations for cities I should check out? Any hidden gems? I visited a few of the major cities--Prague, Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest about 10 years ago and loved it. Wasn't so keen on Bucharest but Brasov and Cluj were cool. I wouldn't mind somewhere smaller, as long as it has pretty architecture, decent nightlife and all that kind of stuff.

I'm also maybe open to southern Europe, but haven't been there other than to Spain when I was a kid.

Yeah I should have said how much I make.

Averages at about $2000 a month. I'm quite confident of increasing that significantly this year.

Not gonna answer the other questions though sorry man, what I do is very niche and it wouldn't be that hard to find me with a search engine.

You won't be able to afford a lifestyle worth a damn in any of those places for 2k a month.

Check out Szeged. While I've not been myself, it seems to find your criteria from what I've been told.

Probably not in Prague but $2k is more than enough in smaller cities further east.

Bansko in Bulgaria is a digital nomad capital of eastern europe. You can find a studio there for 300 usd per month. It is a good place if you are an outdoorsy type of person, but if you like big cities then you will find it boring.

Never heard of it before. Sounds pretty interesting though. Did you stay in any other parts of Bulgaria, and if so, how are the locals? I found locals in Poland and Romania pretty friendly and keen to talk to foreigners, but I've heard it's a little different in Bulgaria

I was only in Sofia and Blagoevgrad, Sofia is ok but nothing special and Blagoevgrad is a miserable shithole. I am Polish so i have a comparison - old Bulgarians don't speak english at all and are mostly homo sovieticuses so you probably won't interact with them. Younger ones are friendly and more keen to speak english than Polish people, but they're also kind of hot blooded so be cautious of not offending them or their country.

Thanks, this is really good info. I've lived as an expat in Vietnam and while the locals are nice people, there are few who speak English well enough to have a conversation beyond the very surface level.

I donโ€™t mind hanging out with other expats obviously, but in SE Asia I found aspects of that scene quite tiring--a lot of aggressively woke types or just general weirdos.

You make 24k a year lmao? What the fuck, my grandma makes more than that and she works part time! Are you indian?? For 2k you might be able to find some Romanian gypsy's that will let you travel with their caravan

Budapest is comfy, Prague is cuter but i don't know if it's more expensive or not.

$50 per day is sufficient to wander around Poland. IDK how they feel about Irish there.

In Poland, it's rare for people to honk back after being honked at. Poles have reptilian genes, I'm convinced.

>2k a month isn't possible in eastern europe
That's probably over double what the average local makes in eastern europe

I don't get what you mean?
Why would you honk at someone after being honked at?
In Poland it is a traffic offense to honk without a sufficient reason.
