I want to go to Quebec for some nature adventures and to also stop by some of the cities and towns along the way. I don't speak French at all. How screwed will I be?

Not very. I don't speak any French. I've been up there twice. Granted, it was Montreal both times. Most people I encountered in Montreal seemed to know enough English to effectively communicate. I would just ask everyone first "parles tu anglais?" and that seemed to work most of the time. My understanding is that in some of the smaller towns, most people won't speak English. Just use your translator app. No big deal.

Just be forewarned, if you are a single solo male traveler, or if you and your buddy look suspect, prepare to be interrogated at the border crossing. I used one of the major ones twice. They are looking for gun smugglers apparently. If you fit the profile, prepare to stand there and have them rifle through your car and ask 50 questions.

Well I do plan to go solo so I guess that'll be fun. Is it legal to cross in via Maine in the logging roads? I know one of them has a tiny checkpoint

I'm not too familiar with the smaller crossings, but from what I know, other people have said that it can actually take longer than the more heavily trafficked crossings. This is because there might only be one border guard there, meaning he's going to have to check your car, interrogate you, and then run all your info through the computers. The bigger crossings have multiple staff to accomplish these things faster.

Not screwed at all if you get queerbec anon to guide you. He's a real troon, though, so he might not help you unless you acknowledge him as a woman.

Always nice to read all the angloid troons seething at the superior Quebecois everytime a thread about Quebec comes on the log.
You will never be human, angloids. Nobody wants to visit your fake plastic angloid shithole. Keep on coping, lol.

This would be based if Quebec wasn't filled with Haitians and muzzies like your caliphate homeland of France

We should ship them and the angloids into the Atlantic sea.

Montreal you can get by with English, anywhere else you should at least download a translator app. Even knowing a few phrases will help a lot and the locals won’t think you’re another Anglo who just excepts everyone to speak English.
You should definitely visit Quebec City at least once. It’s very unique by Canadian standards.

If you're so superior, why are you speaking English? You've been successfully colonized, my friend.

>Nobody wants to visit your fake plastic angloid shithole.
You say that like it's a bad thing. I wish you were right about this, I don't want any tourists. You can have them all.

>why are you speaking English?
It's literally a shitty creole version of French, it's not hard to learn.

Kek no, keep dreaming.

You say it's not hard to learn, but you can't even pronounce the letter H. Sad.

Also, if you truly consider yourself superior, you're not supposed to speak the language of the people you consider "inferior." That's not how it works. You don't see me speaking Hindi, Tagalog, or French, do you?

You're not supposed to speak our language, you're supposed to make us speak yours. That's how dominance works. Not like I expect a frog to understand that.

Drove up from upstate NY via Ottawa with friends. Visited Montreal, QC and the Gaspe peninsula. One friend and I speak pretty broken French (like a month of on and off self-study) but most people we ran into spoke enough English, even in the middle of nowhere.

Keep in mind that road signs in Quebec are only in French so I'd study up on them at least. Stuff like "Arrêt" meaning stop, "circulation" meaning traffic, "sortie" meaning exit, "livraison" meaning delivery, etc. But overall it's pretty obvious from the shape or symbols even if you don't know frog.

Depends where you go. The further you get from Montreal and the anglo border, the whiter and Frencher it gets. Montreal is basically Toronto at this point. Quebec City is semi-bilingual in tourist spots. But once you go out into the countryside for "nature adventures", you're in deep French territory.

Like, don't expect Grandma Tremblay in Saint-Mooseballs-du-Nord to understand a word of English. Younger people might know some, especially if they’ve watched Netflix instead of TVA their whole life.

You better learn "bonjour", "merci", and how to point at things.

Best not to go to Canada now at all now that they are rolling out $25,000 fines for going hiking in Nova Scotia. As if this shitty gay North Korea couldn't get any worse, it's now ground zero for the WEF Climate Lockdowns.
