>have Agoda VIP platinum status
>nearly 40 bookings this year
>"look at all these benefits you get anon"
>check at same hotel and dates in private browsing
>it's over 30% cheaper
>book it without logging in
Holy shit I've been getting scammed for years haven't I?

Never put all your eggs in one basket.

If you really care about saving money, what you actually should be doing is checking multiple platforms. There is the odd time where Agoda or some other third-party (Booking.com, Hotels.com, etc.) is cheaper than booking direct. There are times when it's the same all across the board. Never stick to one site. Always check multiple.

It's not as much about the prices, I go to places and blast dollars on stupid shit without thinking twice.
It's about the principle.
If they want to charge me more based on spending huge amounts with them, cool, but don't wrap it up as some fucking rewards program.
It's insulting

This is good advice but the problem is I'm logged in on all of them too and probably the same tricks being pulled.
Usually it's the cheaper one which is weird because they're owned by booking.com anyway, along with a few other sites.

Reminds me of this place near me when I was in Asia who ran 6 different restaurants on Uber eats all from the same kitchen, it was her and one employee doing it all.

Always book direct. Middlemen don't do anything useful and will just scam you. Same with travel agents.
