With unlimited time? Sure. I don’t really have that.

I noticed this over ten years ago. When I was in my twenties at hostels there was a surprising amount of backpackers in their thirties. I was a based knower & user of 4chan so I was way ahead of the curve recognizing that a paradigm shift was occurring where millennials were not growing up. These were the cutting edge ones, like b.1980 or not long after and in this state of endless childhood/arrested development.
Now I’m in my thirties and I’m staying at hostels still. EXCEPT I’m…median age maybe? Because those thirtysomethings from 2012-ish? Well it’s not like they’re ever growing up either, so now there are legit forty-something’s living out a broken fantasy of endless youth. And the way they talk? You’d think they were in college.
When they find out I’m a pilot about half the time they say “oh I’d love to do that job some day”…and I’m just bewildered. You are 45 and mandatory retirement for pilots is 65. You are OLD.
But anyways, yeah hostels can charge these people more because they have more money. Drives out the younger ones, which is increasingly fine by me since zoomers are profoundly unfun people. Though that brings up a chicken/egg argument, was in the terminally infantilized millennials who refused to relinquish our hold on youth budget options that made the zoomers what they are???
