Can someone please explain to me this? I can see the reason for people clapping that the ride is finally over/we're here stuff. This shit just boggles my mind though. I'm all for killing of slows getting of the plane but I thought this behavior was a meme.

I also recently that kind of behaviour in China / Taiwan. Must be some kind of extreme narcissism mixed with a lack of civilized behaviour. The worst I saw where 3 girls holdings hands and rushing into the metro to rapidly grab some places just to climb out a couple of stops later.

I hate this shit too. Taking a guess here is that the reason is third world airports are notorious for extremely long lines for immigration. If you are a foreigner you don't need to rush as the lines are usually separate and a lot less crowded.
