Hows England? The people, public transit, food, price, attitude towards tourists, sights to see.

I have a rather odd vacation planned next year, its going to be almost entirely miniature wargame oriented and will center mostly around Nottingham so I can attend Britcon and visit the GW HQ and other of the wargame companies centered in Nottingham. I'll be in the country for 3 weeks so it'll be plenty of time to check out the rest of England and some historical sites. I was warned to avoid London but that seems like such a waste going to England and going everywhere but the capital

Since you'll be in Nottingham, I recommend you visit my home town of Lincoln for a day trip, it's just a short train ride away. We have a top quality cathedral, nice castle, and some good pubs.

If you're here for wargames you'll have a great time. My dad's into historical wargaming and is constantly going to clubs and events, though it's not my cup of tea so I can't give any recommendations.
Ignore the people telling you to avoid London, the museums are fantastic and completely free.

The UK is in decline but it's nowhere near as bad as 40% white USA or 35% white Canada. /pol/browns and Migatards live in countries less white than brazil and will tell you how other nations have fallen.

Ignore the /pol/ retards. If you want to go somewhere that's full of Muslims, yes, those places exist (Bradford, most famously) but it's perfectly easy to avoid those places.

Nice enough. You'll probably see scumbags, but you'd be unlucky to actually get accosted by them. Warhammer autists are a long way down the social ladder, so they will be happy to see you just because nobody else wants to speak to them. You will probably make some great friends.

Not good. Trains are a premium service in this country; if you're travelling a long way, you will be charged 10x what you should. You can save money by buying your tickets in advance, and with websites like thetrainline.co.uk. Buses are not as bad as American buses. If you are coming here from a big country, like America, please be warned that it is much harder to travel great distances here. Over here, 100 miles is a long way.

Better than the memes say, but not by much. We have plenty of restaurants with Italian, Chinese, or Indian food. Personally, I would advise against any small diners near transport hubs; that is the worst food in the country.

Everything everywhere costs more than it should. You're probably used to this in your own country, and our country is the same.

In Nottingham, people will be surprised you went there. Your presence will confuse people. However, you won't have any trouble and nobody's going to attack you or anything.

What are you after? If you like Warhammer, you could go to York and see a real-life Viking-themed city. York is also incredibly nice in general. The people telling you to avoid London were just bantering you; we all hate it but you can't really come here and not go to London at any point. It's impossible to recommend any specific tourist spots unless you know what kind of thing you want, though.

England is fine, economically depressed areas of major urban areas can be a bit sketchy maybe, but even then most of the shit that happens involves players in the drug trade
nott'n'm is not normally thought of as a tourist destination but a lot of warhammer and robin hood pilgrimages happen so they will be used to your unwashed kind
if you have an interest in historical stuff then there is a lot to see in London and you'd be dumb to miss it, obvious stuff like the museums and the castles and palaces and whatnot, some things the Romans left have been there for almost two thousand years. the "don't go to london" crowd either believe shitposts or are normies who didn't like queuing for some meme attraction
public transport is not great, not terrible. you can get most places by train at a high price. buses are variable, service can be very good or very crap depending on the route you want. you can get domestic flights up to scotland if you want to go there, often far cheaper than the train
food is also variable, caring about what you eat is seen as habit of posh wankers so there is a lot of bland beige slop around but at the same time you can get good food if you want (even in nottingham you have several michelin star places)

what kind of history are you into, there are a lot of sites all over the place

If you want to go to a rural area in Britain without a car and you don't like major cities, you'd have to prepare to spend a lot time studying bus schedules and waiting for hourly or worse buses.

England is a rare case where small towns and rural areas are absolutely gorgeous but the big cities are depressing shitholes. In general a lot of England's architecture and housing you may drive by is quite grim, devoid of any elegance and amongst the ugliest in Europe. Nottingham is quite nice though so you'll be fine.

Nottingham like a lot of cities in that area is kind of ugly, filled with Asians and bad architecture. Not all that much to do except drink and eat (applies to many British cities). If you like sport, it has two football grounds and a cricket ground in the centre all in close proxmity
London is fine in the very centre with a lot to see concentrated in a small area. British people not from London hate it and will tell you it's shit but in my experience most foreigners like it. Ignore /pol/tards who say it'a a warzone, touristy parts are fine. It's not difficult to get to because infrastructure in the country exists around it, but trains are expensive to London
Stratford-Upon-Avon is one hour away from you, the hometown of Shakespeare and a must do
Seconding the recommendation of York - beautiful city, probably the nicest in England in my view
As you like wargaming you may be interested in a historic battlefield although I don't know if this can be done without a car. About one hour from Nottingham is the Battle of Bosworth centre. It's basically just a field with a visitor centre, but you can learn about the battle there and retrace some of the positions and events. Richard III's tomb is nearby in Leicester Cathedral

The English are a peculiar people. If it's your first time you might be quite surprised; their demeanor is quite unlike anything else. Use your wits and stay safe.

Solely the north west?
Chester is the nicest place, probably only worth a day trip but a very pleasant place and worth visiting. Has a castle, good cathedral, and a roman ampitheatre. It also has a very good zoo, accesible from both Chester and Liverpool

Liverpool the must do is the albert docks, there are lots of museums around here. By the train station is the world museum and walker art gallery - the art gallery is worth a visit in particular
Nearby to Liverpool, on the local trains (Merseyrail), you may want to visit Port Sunlight - beautiful model village and again has a good art gallery

In the Manchester area, if you like trains there is the east lancashire railway, from Bury
Science and Industry museum in Manchester

Both cities mostly associated with football and music, look into them if it's your thing
