This is the thread where the hotel IS the destination.
Any here in /trv/ who travels to a place solely for a specific hotel/accommodation, or hopping from one hotel to another? Whether it's a 5 star or a no-frills accommodation located in paradise, I want to know the hotels you went to & why that place is so special.
Guess I'll start. Last year I stayed at the wonderful explora Patagonia in Torres del Paine. The obvious downside is it's fucking expensive. But it was all worth it. Full board meals with great food. Open bar. You can pick any exploration you want to do each day. Jacuzzis with lagoon views. Woke up to picrel everyday. I'm an autist introvert loner but the staff made me feel like I belong there.

Technically, normies do this in Las Vegas.

Fairmont Lake Louise - no better view of the lake. You're in close proximity to the masses but they all leave at the end of the day.

Belmond at Iguacu - access to the falls before and after the park means you have it almost all to yourself

Estancia Cristina - 3 hour boat ride from the nearest town. Basically your own private Patagonia.

Posuada Caiman (might go by something different now) - best lodge in the Pantanal though I was part of the unlucky 2% who didn't see jaguar


Rooms Kazbegi - for the excellent dining, cheap wine, and incredible views

I travel and choose comfortable clean quiet accomodations because it makes me feel like home and part of travel is enjoying it like it's home for me, rather than feeling like a temporary visitor

Paying more also keeps you away from low quality people

La Casa del Mundo, Lake Atitlan - honestly the first thing that comes to mind for this thread. Not even a luxury hotel yet the views are 5 star. Great view of the two volcanoes and you can also swim at the lake. It's like you're in fucking Capri or something

Topas Ecolodge in Sapa - I regret staying only for 2 nights here. Accommodation is not expensive by Vietnamese standards. Great infinity pool. Peaceful, you only hear the gentle breeze and the ricefields swaying to it

Karma Kandara in Bali - honestly the most 'White Lotus' hotel I've stayed. They upgraded me to a villa with a private pool which was cool. They have their own funicular to access the beach. Fantastic staff

I also want to specially mention Hotel Villa Honegg which went viral for having an infinity pool with a view of the mountains nearby. However the service felt short and the staff felt robotic.

There's also an island in the Pacific that I want to gatekeep (not like they're all similar anyway) but at night you can clearly see the stars and sometimes the Milky way.

Tamarack Lodge - Mammoth Mountain, California.

Individual rooms but shared bathroom down the hall, all on the second floor. First floor has an amazing restaurant and the lounge with a fireplace the size of a Volkswagen. The staff leave at 9pm and you have the downstairs all to yourself. And the best part about it is it’s cheap. Prices have probably gotten higher but the last time I went you got a place to stay PLUS your lift ticket for the next day for $100 a night.

Also, last time I went is the only time I stole somebody’s woman.

That's a great lodge. I was just there in May. I took some friends in to see it. There is a great waterfall right out front.
