It's to do with how shit regular plugs are worldwide
British type G is peak, used in Singapore, HK, Malaysia. Absolute best.
The aussie pacific type I, used in parts of south america and China is close second place
Everything else is fucking garbage, all of europe and rest of Asia is gay and lame. Just use something that works you fucks

It doesn't matter what country I'm in. I always have to use some physical object to prop it up. Very gay and annoying

>have lenovo laptop charger
>order EU cable
>swap when abroad depending what country I am in
>just werks
UK is just pants on head retarded but I have a 65w charger into a 74wHR battery and simply charge the battery up, then charge devices off that as needed.

I have this identical adapter bought for 10 ringgit in Malaysia and it never falls out of my outlet. I can even dangle my entire laptop charger off it. However, once my adapter has been inside a plug, yours will be too loose. Heh heh.

I was in Ireland recently, and they also use Type G. My adapter kept sagging downward and would not stay connected. It doesn't fall out, but no electrical contact is made unless I prop it up. If I prop it up at the wrong angle, it would cause sparks; I still have burn marks on the plug from doing that.

Then I went to continental Europe and had zero issues with their Type C connections.

I do agree that it's about time the whole world agreed to a standard. I don't care what Type ends up winning, as long as we can have consistency all across the board.

For better and worse the world already has: USB. High-end new construction is already including them in addition to the usual national wall plug. USB4 delivers up to 240w, already enough power for nearly any device a foreign traveler is going to carry (and trends suggest power output will rise; USB3 spec started at just 5w). It's going to be a decades long process of course, initially supplementing rather than replacing existing AC wall outlets.

Every hotel should just have universal wall sockets.

Hillarious how every single britfag is indoctrinated from birth into believing 'muh plugs are best'. Maybe in 1900, but now it's done - like the rest of the country.
The European plugs are smaller and more secure. Far better design. Type E wins.

Wait I bought that exact model. Is it bad? Seemed to work when I plugged it in my home but I didn't test it too much.

Now I remember, it's the Eurofaggot plugs (literally shaped like dicks in buttholes) that kept falling out of loose wall holes in Poland with these adapter thingies

Try the Brit/Malaysia plug on your international adapter and you'll see why it is objectively the most reliable plug design. The outlets in Malaysia also come with individual power switches, so if you're plugging in a sparky appliance, you can turn off the outlet first. The only point you have is that the Type H is overkill for a nightlight.

the worst is italy where they use four different types of plug and you won't know which one you need until you get to the hotel

When I visited India, I saw Type G and Type D the most. They're so wildly different from each other that purchasing appliances must be a pain in the ass over there. To add to the chaos, they also use devices with Type C plugs, despite not having Type C sockets.

They plug their Type C devices by forcefully jamming them into Type D sockets. Their shape is similar. "Similar" being the key word here, they are not 1:1 identical. The prongs of a Type C plug are spaced slightly more narrow than a Type D. I've seen Type C plugs with cracks in the housing, or prongs that are bent outwards.

This but with a 185W combo charger with two USB-C outlets and one USB-A port. Makes fellow travelers pretty happy as they can just plug in with a garden variety USB cable and mooch off the same outlet instead of having to fight for space for another one of those gay oversized adapters.

What I found odd about these universal adapters is that the EU plugs on these things are often fully metal and rigid, while devices sold in the EU have plugs that are partially insulated and even flexible. What's with that?

I have one, too. I think most travelers have this exact model, as it's the cheapest option on eBay/Amazon/AliExpress. I've used mine for a few years and managed to use every type of plug it has to offer. It werks.
Only reason I bought a different one was because I wanted something with USB ports.

Oh hey, I just realized that the European plug on my adapter is insulated. So even cheap no-name stuff from China gets design updates.

Sadly this isn't safe. Bad actors can use ports to compromise your device

Yep, and manufacturers would happily take advantage of this to collect data on their users.

I like it in concept, but I just bring my phone charger and travel adapter anyway. There's usually an outlet available, but there's no guarantee that I will see a USB port.
Not every hotel I stay in has USB ports. Most airports do have them, but I have seen the occasional ones that don't.
