Is there anything actually fun to do here and how likely will my gf get kidnapped (just her, I won't pay her ransom)

Every time someone asks this sort of question, you can't help but wonder what kind of shenanigans they plan to get up to in MX. Even being high on drugs in a nightclub could easily lead to big trouble. Best bet is to carry about $100 worth of pesos on you, but leave the USD cash in your hotel room for a robbery emergency. Robberies do happen in Mexico, you have no choice but to trust that the hotel room will remain secure. Oh, and leave the hotel name dangly thing that they always attach to your room key in the room, or else leave the key at reception (some places will require it of their low-paid cash guests, even if you enter and return 10x per day).

wow what a great country
but the people are nice and friendly right? they don't just ignore you/ treat you like a walking wallet? I bet all the infrastructure and stuff works great too. And the street food is probably really good and not shitty and dirty also

cdmx means cuidad mexico, basically a giant version of whatever shitty mexican neighborhood you have in your town

>but the people are nice and friendly right?
not anymore, for some reason mexicans became racist, specially those in mexico city due to some internet memes about “gentrification“ so they attack you like feral animals if you look white

Skin color has nothing to do with it. Go watch some of the protest footage. It's all gueros (white middle-class Mexicans) who are protesting gentrification, because they resent being priced out of their nice, safe neighborhoods by English speaking foreigners.

In many ways, Mexico is better developed than /trv/'s favorite Asian countries. Sidewalks are standard on nearly all streets in Mexican cities. There is always a plaza with benches and rubbish bins in the center of town. Bus service between cities is first class, and the cuota expressways are also First World tier. Nobody's hopping in the back of a pickup truck to get someplace outside of remote mountain villages.

Friendliness varies widely. Mexicans distrust unknown solo males, but if you're traveling with a friend or gf, most people will be friendly, and women might even smile at you. Some cities like Queretaro are famous for their refinement. Poza Rica OTOH is a place of cultureless crudity. I've never heard old women talk filth in public as casually as they did in Poza Rica.

>nice and friendly
not really. the store clerks don't even really greet you. they're just like talk! or order! it's basically the opposite of colombia, where they always say "at your service"

This was my experience, they mostly ignored me but occasionally I'd make eye contact and some dude would be glaring at me. Did not feel friendly

LMAO, you should've seen some of the hard looks I got from guys in pickup trucks while walking around cartel towns in northern Mexico. Didn't bother me none, except for that one time in Guaymas where some random crazy dude assaulted me in broad daylight. Anyway, still have a little pocket knife I found on the street in San Fernando, Tamaulipas.
