Discussing travel safety in less-than-pristine places is difficult because the technically correct answer for maximizing safety is always going to be

Where is your personal threshold at? What's the sketchiest place you've been, or would consider going to?

What kinds of dangers do you plan for, and what precautions do you take?

zero fucks given. Done it pretty much all from drinking in favelas, doing coke with cartel lads, hanging out in war zones, riding bikes with the local warlords, been there done that
That all changed when I got married and my first child. Now it's down to pretty much solid western infrastructure and nothing wilder than southern europe.

yes. there are armed guards everywhere. The only hassle is poor people wanting money and hookers wanting money for sex. Other than that it is super friendly and loads to see. I know Mindanao is a meme these days, but everywhere I have been in the Phils is safer then most American big cities.

You shouldn't trust any of the "super friendly" people you encounter in Manila, unless they are visibly employed. Students working evening jobs to pay their expenses are good to talk to if you're a young guy. They're curious about other countries and smarter than average.

After the novelty of the teeming bughive wears off, the downsides begin to annoy you more and more - particularly if you're living cheap, i.e. too cheap to get laid. The low intelligence, the relentless noise, the exhaust pollution, the fake friendliness, the environmental degradation, the shitty hotel rooms and shitty restaurant food, the general lack of civic achievement.

I have traveled to japan alot for the peace of mind that I dont get at home (US east coast). Do they have scanners and traps? Sure but you just walk by the touts, who are generally only in the seediest areas anyway, areas that are equivalent to the local park in the US. What other places can I travel to that i dont have to constantly make sure my items are bolted to my body or wont get caught in a grenade attack by doctors and engineers?

I would say it's the most chaotic place I've been, and I've gone to India, Egypt and Morocco too. It's not really dangerous, just grating and I could see how living there would drive people crazy or only the schizos feel at home there.

Was baisically my thoughts as well, I was just hoping for somthing slightly less asian this time but choices are slim. I had been to alot of Europe before the fall, but I can only go back to Ireland so many times too. Even that seems to be changing in the big cities. Can anyone attest to Iceland or Greenland? Sweden is a horde country it seems these days.

Poland felt safe to me. The drunks get loud and drop their bottles on the sidewalk, but otherwise they don't seem to harass anybody. I never saw non-whites loitering around in Poland, apart from the delivery drivers waiting for an order. Idle freeloader migrants are not tolerated there. One thing I did notice, every single bicycle parked in public had a proper bike lock on it, with a heavy chain or bar...so you still should take some precautions with your property.
