When I was younger I was super jealous of my friends who got to go to Disneyland every year. When I brought it up to my parents they'd laugh and say it was a waste of money. Now that I'm an adult and have disposable income I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to go for a few days to see what I missed. Can someone give me a non middle aged woman with disney brain worms perspective on what it'd be like for someone with no children? Is it true that people are paying the price of a nice australian or european vacation to wait in lines all day and buy $30 burgers? I like smaller amusement parks (think myrtle beach) but have never been to anything larger.

Universal is better.
Honestly Disneyland is alright. I have good memories from it, but honestly it's best to go either as a kid, or with your kids.

As an adult, you buy a lightening pass and skip the lines. Also eating inside the park is your mistake.

Depends on what you define as "nice". You can do all of Universal or Disney under the cost of the flight ticket alone unless you opt to stay at an extremely expensive hotel. If staying in hostels and living like a hobo is your version of nice then maybe you could do it for less in Europe.

I would go there to make my kid happy, but personally I don’t like a vacation where most of my time is spent standing in line. I would rather go see sights or scuba dive

Assuming you wouldn't go alone like a creepo but with friends or a gf, it can be a great time.

While it’s for sure been getting gutted of value and quality, the highs of a Disney parks are still really great. Things like escaping the heat on pirates, flying down the Matterhorn at night, falling for a gag at the tiki room or ambling around animal kingdom are memorable as hell, makes it worth wading through the shit they throw at you.
I took my wife to Disneyland as an adult with no prior experience (she was 26 at the time) and she felt it was worth it without any feelings of nostalgia.

Disney (and Universal) are on a completely different level to most theme parks, let alone seaside funfairs. If you've never been and you've any interest in rides, it's something you've got to do at some point.

They are expensive and the are packed as fuck, impossible to argue against that. Food options are much better now eating out everywhere has become expensive as fuck which makes Disney a bit less eye watering in comparison and they've put a lot of effort into themed food so you can always get something interesting rather than just insanely overpriced mediocre Burgers. They make up for food being less eye watering by nickel and diming you everywhere else (bring a collapsible drinking bottle if going when it's hot).

There are enough rides skewing older and enough Disney adults that you won't feel especially awkward as a lone adult, nobody cares, nobody will notice, ride attendants will seat hundreds of adults riding Snow White's Adventure on their own every day

I'd still give a pass to people looking to heal their inner child, which is what OP is doing. Visiting regularly would definitely be more concerning, but a one-and-done is fine.

Don't you mean Disneyworld? The one in Florida has a lot of other theme parks nearby
