Have you ever been? What was it like? Is the food really as bad as they say?

did some hiking
no crazy summits though
just the Annapurna Circuit

Kathmandu air pollution was horrible
but other than that, it's a cool city for a few days

>Is the food really as bad as they say?
who says that??
it's very similar to Indian food (given the proximity and amount of Indians there) but a bit more restriction in terms of food availability
can feel a little dull, but not bad
though I quite liked the the himalayan tibet inspired food

I have been OP, I can give you detailed responses if you ask the right questions.
>Have you ever been?
I went for 3.5 weeks for a college trip, studying at campuses in Kathmandu & Pokhara and spending time with the students. I had an unreal time the only thing which I didn't get to do much of was hiking. But there is definitely enough to do and see to get around this. You can walk around Kathmandu for days there is so much to see, Pokhara as well. I also went on a safari at Chitwan.
>Is the food really as bad as they say?
Where the fuck did you hear this? the food is absolutely kino, and crazyyyy cheap. Everywhere I go I would get momo's and it was delicious as well as a main meal because it would only cost a few dollars.
If you have more questions I will answer

Will post some photos I took from when I visited, The Himalayas are the most beautiful think I have ever seen. Stepping off the plane in Pokhara was breathtaking to see them

What time of year did you visit Nepal?

$125 cash for a 90 day visit at any Nepalese port of entry seems pretty straightforward. Seeing how India becomes unbearably hot in April, it seems wise to head north, gain some elevation and get away from the pajeetery of the Ganges Basin.

Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Nepal to Central Asia, a region of the world on top of my list for next June/July.

>Is the food really as bad as they say?
It's only bad if you already dislike Indian & Chinese food.

OP here, I somehow completely forgot about this thread.

Well, I'll be going there next week, and will mostly stay at Pokhara. Then I'll go on a 5-day trek to Mardi Himal. But apparently the food on the trek sucks balls. And I hear there aren't many good restaurants in Pokhara. I'm fine with anything as long it's not entirely vegetarian or has rice in it.

>What time of year did you visit Nepal?
end of April
probably the best time to visit, but also the most crowded

>a region of the world on top of my list for next June/July
i hope that you're aware that this is during the rainy season
not impossible to hike / get around
but depending on where you go, you'll be miserable

>I'm fine with anything as long it's not entirely vegetarian
that's gonna be difficult
it's quite common for restaurants along the hiking routes to just run out of certain ingredients / dishes
you definitely will have many vegetarian dishes, unless you significantly preplan or stay in big cities
>or has rice in it.
kek
are you sure you want to travel to Nepal?
