I wrapped up TOS era by finishing the movies and at no point does Chekov ever come into himself. He only exists to be Russian, even in the 4th movie when it gets him noticed by Reagan Era Americans. Useless character.

Don't watch "In The Beginning", the original pilot because too much of the cast/characters change between it and it getting picked up for production.
I'd say if you've made it 6 episodes into S1, you won't like it. But S1 has a bunch of goofy stuff, but never too goofy, it clouds the episode.

I noticed a trend with the TOS movies that while the first three are almost entire centered on the classic Kirk-Spock-McCoy dynamic, the last three movies are much more ensemble with each of the classic crew members getting bigger roles and their own little moments.

I've done something very much quite like it an' it's as comfy as the people you got there.

if you get to have a coffee an' are allowed to talk about shit or have something actually happening and not just flying through empty space then it's ok, but you'll still look forward to being done

if you got a captain like data who tells you to turn "mind your panel ensign" every time you turn around to try to get him to reveal the details of his android penis, it can really suck

When did you give TOS an honest chance?

Chekov was only ever meant as proto-Wesley. Bright eyed teenager that the audience was meant to project onto. IMO Bones was a better audience character because he was a more accurate representation of how a regular guy in the Sixties would react to aliens.

I watched Waltz last night and while I agree that it's basically Dukat character assassination, it is a VERY well-written character assassination.
There are some great lines in the episode.
>DUKAT: Benjamin. About my daughter. You and Major Kira took care of her for almost a year. I wanted to thank you for that. It was very generous.
>SISKO: Ziyal was a very special young woman. It was a pleasure to have her with us, even if it was only a short time.
>DUKAT: A short time is all she ever had.
>SISKO: Is there anything I can get for you?
>DUKAT: A bottle of kanar and an Orion slave girl would be nice.
>SISKO: I'll see what I can do.

It really was. The thing they did with the "phantoms" was really good. I really liked the Weyoun one especially because it shows how much Dukat really internalized that disdain and subtle belittling Weyoun always did. He was the cruelest of the "critics."

That's what they say at the end of the episode yeah is that the army all supports Shakaar. I don't know it just felt too big for a 1-part episode.
>Minister dies
>Kai Winn is now the Minister somehow
>Shakaar refuses to return farm equipment that seemingly could be easily replicated. All of this was weird and kind of lazy. I never get the feeling that Bajor is a planet of billions of people. It would be like saying that Texas has no tractors because these guys in Montana got free tractors. You're a fucking warp capable planet, Bajor, MAKE SOME EXTRA TRACTORS. It just makes steam come out of my ears.
>Shakaar goes on the run. Other stuff happens all over the planet and poor Kai Winn is forced to enact Marshall Law just to prevent anarchy.
>Everyone decides they don't like Kai Winn and they like this plucky farmer instead.
>"We're going to have an election for Minister."
What? Isn't there a constitutional or something that has to be followed? How was Kai Winn installed in the first place? It was definitely a military coup but because I'm supposed to like Screechy Major Kira I'm not supposed to be bothered by it. Well sorry but Bajorans are retarded and Kira is Queen of the Retards.

The farm equipment is supposed to be extremely complex to build and not replicatable. Not exactly tractor level equipment. It's a hand wave excuse, but its an excuse Star Trek has had to use many times before to make a story happen so whatever.
I think Winn escalating the situation so badly was part of the reason everybody was willing to turn on her so quick too. And the army didn't want to fight fellow bajrons after just getting rid of the cardassians.
I agree to the story is a bit too big for 1 episode though. Probably would have been executed better as a 2 parter. But Winn is fun so I like it.

To ordinary 22nd century humans maybe, but we know that nothing he did was even difficult. Any human engineer from our time could probably do it. Meanwhile what Federation engineers do is basically do 10 years of work in the scope of 1 minute or less or just fix things that are unfixable.

grim stuff really, and she doesn't have the Federation memetic heroism to give her life to without question on a daily basis for. Must be rough. God i hated that TNG S2 alien that experimented on the crew and killed the black helmsman.

I have a fantasy episode where a future Federation science officer captain or Section 31 ship hunt down those shitters and do a show of force.
>Opening reminds the audience of that episode with a briefing for the crew
>Intro starts
>Title card appears
>"Among the Stars"

Under no circumstances have I drawn my ultra compact sci fi space ship quarters. They were small rooms with two bunks that were like those japanese pods that could seal up into survival pods in case of an emergency. The room has a desk and terminal and a small couch and a small bathroom, and a Replicator. Six of these rooms were arranged around a larger communal area with casual living space, small kitchenette and dining space. A main entertainment screen and smaller alcoves for people to practice instruments.

I thought voyager's bridge felt right. It wasn't super bright and overlit, but wasn't dark either.
And at least hopefully that far in the future you've got better sources of lights than a cheap television show could afford.

Nope.

Go back to TOS and start over.
This time, pay attention to things you missed: who directed the episode, who wrote the episode, look up production notes on Memory Alpha. That's my advice, your second watchthrough will be great.

I legitimately think his best scenes are with Naomi Wyldman acting in a fatherly capacity. I know this is going to sound like a pedo joke because of Kes' age but I think Ethan works really well with child actors.

But what if the *tractors* aren't just regular old-fashioned tractors like we have today? What if they're just called "tractors" because they're used all over the farm, but they're so much more than mere tractors.

*TRACTORS* in Star Trek (Star Tractors) are more further removed from today's John Deer than today's modern naval warship is from the ancient Greek Trireme. These things -- get this -- have special replicators that actually replicate the precisely optimized combination of nutrients & soil particulates for whatever seeds you're planting... and they replicated the seeds, too! Yeah, get that: Starfleet vessels cannot have replicators capable of replicating life, but John Deer & Company sure do! Heck, they even replicated the seedlings, the entire plants, the crops... whatever you want, just so that you can LARP as a farmer!

Just saying I think that a Cardassian ridge is the perfect shape to pleasure the head of a penis. And I mean I'm not going to rub my dick on a Jem'Hadar head!

Founder pussy would probably be awesome though because they could make a pussy on any place on their body. Would if still count as a handjob if Odo made a pussy in the palm of his hand and you fucked it? Or would it still be a handjob?

the friendship is the only saving grace of this dogshit episode but it's a great part of most episodes so that doesn't factor in to why this episode blows which is because it's really poorly contrived drama for the sake of it and this Vulcan shit is really retarded
