Y'ALL PATHETIC PRETENTIOUS QUEERS
>>211370349 (OP)>Do you think the film will be surpassed by another biblical movie anytime soon? No, since Ben-Hur released it immediately became the peak of Christkino
>Bonus: favorite depiction of Christ in film?Ben-Hur, it is literally the only depiction to cause me to break down and cry as I witness the glory of His power.
nothing beats watchin kino on the bluray player
>>211370424Besides for the theater, but based physical media bro.
>>211370349 (OP)Personally I didn't need to see the stakes driven into Christ.
Since this bake sucks and I'm new here, can I get a QRD on the Kinski-Gadon feud?
>>211370349 (OP)>QotD?I can't really enjoy anything with Charlton Heston. Otherwise okay.
>BonusOrdet, I guess.
Still haven't seen any proof Tsaifag and Dallefag are the same person.
>>211370472Both are pretty much the same anon, you could see them as two sides of the same coin; one spams Natassja Kinski, while the other spams Sarah Gadon, both have become outcasted from /film/... who do you prefer?
>>211370538They are and he's Spikefag too
>>211370349 (OP)Just watched picrel. Might very well be my new favourite movie of all time. Has the perfect trifecta of engineering + underdog + survival themes.
Any more good old movies that are technical? I like details. Some of my favs are:
>Sneakers>Bridge on the river kwai>The Right Stuff (Seen it like 200 times)>October Sky (though not what I mean by 'old' movies)>The Martian
>>211370472>QRD on the Kinski-Gadon feud?G*donfag has an irrational hatred for Kinski and robotically spams the same images and calls her a coalburner due to her relationship with Quincy Jones. Kinskibro returns fire. Rinse and repeat.
>>211370622Objective, Burma!, if i got what you mean by "technical".
>>211370622I said this was kino months ago and nobody listened to me
>>211370349 (OP)>QODI've only seen Ben-Hur once and it was a long time ago but in my memory The Ten Commandments is superior.
>BonusPic related.
>>211370596>one spams Natassja Kinski, while the other spams Sarah Gadon"Spams" is doing a lot of work concealing serious differences here. Kinskibro actually posted about film and could have a genuine conversation. Even with his Kinskiposting and replies to G*donfag, you always got the sense that there was a real person behind it which is not the case with G*donfag.
>>211370663>Objective, Burma!Holy fuck thank you, pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I like military stuff generally but I like small sneaky team shit / stealth shit the most.
By technical I mean something thats related to numbers and shit, very loosely. Like I'd consider The Big Short "technical". Gadgets and devices. I love Le Trou and also consider it technical because it gives you a legit look into a world with details you can't make up. Stuff that requires some background and isn't purely character driven.
>>211370680I love Aldrich but haven't seen that one yet.
>>211370680Everyone who didn't listen to you is a fucking retard. It's so good. I was astounded at how realistic it was. I had to keep asking myself "is this a set"? and I wondering if they really did build that plane at the end when we see it flying. The night effects, the desert, it all felt completely real, even their blemishes on their face.
The absolute state of modern cinema, compared to stuff like this. Kill me.
>>211370710Both are the same thing to me, one more mechanical than the other, that's all.
>>211370710Coalburner posting is spam.
>>211370622You might like Le Cercle Rouge for the extended heist scene
>>211370472One fellow illustred all his posts with pictures of N. Kinski, the other fellow would just spam Sarah Gadon, at one point they started going at each other and would keep going back and forth for hours just insulting each other's waifu and the most ridiculous ways and would ruin entire threads, anons would tell kinskifag to stop engaging with the dar penised pakistani but he wouldn't listen and continue to drag the nonsense throughout the thread annoying everybody.
>>211370742Then (You)'re blind, dawg.
>>211370725>Kill me.Ok, open your mouth, choke on my dick.
>>211370622Andromeda Strain
>>211370754>but he wouldn't listenHe would listen and stop briefly, but he kept going back on his word.
>>211370757Nah, the Schrader talk ain't all that.
Pleb tier knowledge of cinema, with the added insult to injury of believing himself to be hot shit when compared to the Gadonfag, when in essence they were the same.
>>211370713>Holy fuck thank you, pretty much exactly what I'm looking forDamn, nice, thought i might've been way off with my suggestion. It's a fascinating war film imo, it's basically just one operation being executed, there's pretty much no sentimentality , there's also not a single woman in the whole film, it's the closest i've seen a war film not completely romanticise war.
>>211370806Get the bug spray
>>211370748Based. This looks really good, and I like french shit too. Rififi ruled.
>>211370765Saw this a few weeks ago actually. I liked it a lot and the retro futurism was top tier.
>>211370349 (OP)I think the 2016 Ben Hur is one of the most underrated films of that decade. It did not deserve to bomb the way it did. They adapted it differently in some very interesting ways, which is exactly what a remake should do. It's further afield from the book due to its changes and far more extensive cuts to the plot, but it felt much more relevant and modern to me, and surprisingly resonant to the Israeli-Arab conflict.
>>211370698>The Ten Commandments is superior.I don't like how they did the decalogue. It reduces the glory, majesty, and mystery of god into a mechanical dictation.
>>211370754The gadonfag is worse than that. He'll lie about watching movies (and claim they suck) to steer people into watching her films instead.
>>211370792>Nah, the Schrader talk ain't all thatIt wasn't just Schrader, and the question of his taste is ultimately beside the point: Kinskibro, obsessed as he is, does not possess the robotic, totally one-track mind of G*donfag and could act like a human being instead of a bot (even if you don't like Kinskibro's taste, when did G*donfag ever do anything like post a top 10? (the majority of which were not Kinski joints in Kinski's case).
>>211370754There's so many typos in this, i'm deeply ashamed, i promise to proof read all my posts from now on. I always type too fast and don't read back before pressing 'post', sorry.
>>211370824Why does it have a 5.7 on imdb then?
>>211370886>imdbSorry, we only trust Sally Jane Black reviews here.
>>211370886>>211370898I strictly consult ouija boards.
>>211370898>>211370910Coping. IMDB boomers stay winning. I have never seen a good sub 6/10 movie except Jiu Jitsu which was kino.
>>211370871Bro, I don't care about his pros and cons, all I see is the same gimmick in different expressions of autism.
One thing I value in anons is their capacity to talk in depth about themes which are entertaining, and neither of them could do something like that. As I've said in the past, waifufagging is one of the worst forms of posting in general, so I don't care for them either way.
>>211370924>Dimitri Logotits
>>211370943Be really cool if Nic actually posted here.
>>211370939>>211370943It was genuinely enjoyable. But only because I went in 100% blind. And then when I checked the score I laughed.
Same thing happened with Barbarian. I watched "Barbarians" instead accidentally and didn't hate it (cover had that creepy fag from GoT) and then it had like a 3.7 or something.
>>211370958Yeah. Then him and gallo could reenact that scene from the end of brown bunny.
>>211370976Everything I've seen of Gallo's has been the worst. Cool face syndrome fooling normies once again.
>>211370349 (OP)>What's your sincere opinion of Ben-Hur?An all-time classic that is one of the most technically impressive spectacles ever made; all the more impressive in that it elevates and brings to life a well-written classic story from the golden age of Western Civilization that otherwise would've been forgotten by the sands of time.
>Do you think the film will be surpassed by another biblical movie anytime soon?No (mostly because of the artistic, cultural, and intellectual freefall of the West) but I think there's strong arguments to be made for both The Passion and The Gospel According To Matthew.
Prince Of Egypt would be a shoo-in if it weren't a musical and actually took itself seriously.
>favorite depiction of Christ in film? It's pretty much impossible to beat Caviezel in The Passion. No other actor will ever capture in graphic, uncensored, horrific detail the unimaginable pain Christ suffered as he beared the weight of all the sins humanity had ever committed and ever will commit.
>>211370987It's called narcissist's charm. Majority of people can't resist it the same way majority of people can't resist authority.
>>211370987>>211371069Seems like you guys got filtered; get familiar with it.
>>211371069Thanks anon. Fuck Gallo.
>>211370929>Bro, I don't care about his pros and cons, all I see is the same gimmick It's not a question of pros and cons, it's a question of massive exaggeration or genuine blindness if you're unwilling to admit that Kinskibro did more than just post Kinski and squabble with G*donfag. You don't have to think that that posting was good, or that it washes away what you take to be the bad to see that it exists and there is no counterpart in G*donfag's posting.
>>211371089Gallo is for manlets and jeets.
>>211370837>steer people into watching her films insteadWhich he probably fast forwards through when she's not on screen.
>>211370987He made this which is mildly cool
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZCGAJG_Uow
>>211370349 (OP)>QOTDDon't know haven't seen it.
>Do you think the film will be surpassed by another biblical movie anytime soon?I don't really watch movies like that.
>favorite depiction of Christ in film?Who?
>>211371094I actually could ignore Gadonfags' posts more easily, so that's that.
>>211371104t. coping fag.
>>211370886A lot of people hated it because it was too different from the 50s version, especially the casting.
The NY Times review of it literally gave a "not muh Judah" because they changed the character so much. In the 50s version Charlton Heston plays him as already a hero at the start of the film, but in the 2016 version he's a pampered aristocrat.
Gadonfag is funny. The other waifutrannies are annoying children.
>>211371057>all the more impressive in that it elevates and brings to life a well-written classic story from the golden age of Western Civilization that otherwise would've been forgotten by the sands of time. The book was only written in 1880, and it's still popular, at least among religious Christians.
>>211371153Finally someone with common sense. Another W for us Gadonbros.

>>211371248Yeah it was a whole era you gnostic chink. I'm not talking about the plebs like you. I'm talking about the guys who were getting shit done making sweet sculptures and galavanting around.
>>211371234No, it is also part of the point.
In sum, one was an AI spammer while the other was an autismo spammer. Who cares.
>>211371193What are your personal rankings of his films?
>>211371259You for sure would have been just a pleb working crops for a landlord who pays you minimum wage. Da Vinki was just another elite. It's all cope, the modern world is way, way better than the ancient world and the periods before 1776; there were no concepts of human rights before that time, nigga.
>>211371254>What are your thoughts on Baahubaali by chance?Lmfao got em

Nigre, back in the 16th century, most niggas (99.9% of them) were just plebs, that's an historical fact, don't get what your meltdown has to do with that. Statistically speaking, you'd have been a pleb back then (and judging by your meltdown... maybe right now, too).
>>211371261>one was an AI spammer while the other was an autismo spammerWhich is different from saying they're both mechanical (or AI) and the difference is just a matter of degree and choice of waifu.
>>211371353It's the same, tomayto-tomato.
>>211371221Last I checked Antioch wasn't full of plastic armor and dollar store polyester leopard prints. Just admit you dickride this movie because you're a christcuck and don't actually give two shits about quality old films.
>>211371254Very funny. And, not to keep bringing it up, but the silent film iteration used horses too. On that same track. And they killed 100 of the fuckers to do it. Hell, even perry mason has horse race footage. What's your point?
>>211371259>gnostic chinkThis specific type of non-sensical ramble makes me think you're underaged. Praying to jesus to get pussy?
>>211370472I hope they both die.
>>211371357Do you not understand that hating two people equally for the same kind of thing is not in tension with admitting substantial differences between them? You can hate two murderers equally for being murderers while admitting that they differ in MO, motive, success in evading capture, etc.

>>211371579OP chose an actual good movie for once, and it got people to come to the thread who normally don't.
Imagine being obsessed with actresses. Actresses don't even know you exist you pathetic incels. I feel bad for your parents. Jesus Christ how much of a fucking loser do you have to be
>>211371654They're just very lonely and sad people. The mistake is thinking being lonely and sad gives people a certain detached nobility, while in reality we see they are bitter, spiteful pests with a lot of time on their hands.
>>211371575Sorry I asked fag
>>211371586I'm here whenever there's good or funny discussion :)
>>211371654What baffles me most is that actresses aren't even that attractive usually. They're bogged out to hell and are incredibly insufferable people (when they aren't pretending to be somebody else).
Frankly, I'm very much of the opinion that actors/actresses are on the same level or very slightly above prostitutes and that the elevation of them has been to the detriment of film as an art form and institution.
Oh cool, after Hitchcock and Citizen Kane faggots here now hate Gallo too, cool.
>>211371698>The mistake is thinking being lonely and sad gives people a certain detached nobilityProjection.
>we see they are bitter, spiteful pestsLmfao. How can you type this with a straight face? The only one who's bitter is Kinskibro and he's only bitter because he gets harassed. The rest of us are both pretty upbeat and chill.
>>211371780>Hitchcock and Citizen Kane faggotsAre there people here that actually, seriously hate these two things? It seems as if the Jeet infestation is growing...
>>211371780/film/ has fallen. Itโs been crumbling for some time now, but now itโs officially done for.
>>211371802Waifutrannies, no seriously. Check their letterboxes, they rate Kane 6/10 while giving crap like Carrie and Suspiria full 5 stars.
>>211371773Filtered by the players who help bring cinema to life, the lungs who breathe life into the words of a script, the hearts that pulsate blood into an otherwise unrealised mere written idea, the bodies that give cinema motion. Acting is art and good actors are true artists.
>>211371842>Carrie and Suspiria Lmao these movies are b movie shlock at best. Waifufags have terrible taste
>>211371842Slander! I went to go see a screening of Citizen Kane under a month ago and it was my third or fourth viewing!
>>211371861Why is it then that the best movies are usually the ones where actors are treated like absolute dogshit by directors or KNOW that they're going to have to do awful, tedious, unpleasant and sometimes even dangerous shit to themselves for the sake of the film?
>Acting is art and good actors are true artistsLol this nigga actually got a performing arts degree
>>211371842Why would they hate Hitchcock then? There's plenty of hot women in his films. Is it the fact that his films are too masculine/trad that they hate it in contrast to the edgier Italian directors?
>>211371915The day a woman sits all the way through Citizen Kane without going to sleep or their phone will be the day America gets a functioning healthcare system.
>>211371955>Why would they hate Hitchcock then?Considering they love De Palma, good question. Maybe just because he's too old-fashioned.
>>211371955>The day a woman sits all the way through Citizen KaneAre you new to the phenomenon of waifuposting?
>>211371842>>211371909God forbid I don't love Kane to death kek. Don't check what I rated A Space Odyssey, it might be high enough for your taste either.

>>211371955>>211371982>Why would they hate Hitchcock then?I've always liked Hitchcock. Hell, I saw Psycho in theaters back in 2015.
Who likes the โcock and who doesnโt?
>>211372016>Are you new to the phenomenon of waifuposting? No, it's just that I don't follow actresses or think anything of them beyond their utility as actresses playing a role so I'm not usually up to date on whether a post is waifufaggotry or a tongue in cheek one shitting on women or waifufags.

Oh, and I watched The Towering Inferno the other day and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I expected it to be terrible.
While I can't really recommend the movie. If you enjoy the 'technical' aspect of things more than action I would highly recommend Frederick Forsyth's book The Dogs of War.

>According to Gore Vidal, while working on the screenplay for William Wylerโs 1959 multiple Oscar-winning epic Ben-Hur, he inserted a romantic / sexual subtext into the โbrotherlyโ friendship between Hestonโs Ben-Hur and Stephen Boydโs Messala. That would help to explain the jilted Messalaโs viciousness later in the story. Vidal added that Stephen Boyd was in on it, but Wyler admonished the screenwriter โDonโt ever tell Chuck what itโs all about or heโll fall apart.โ>In the scene when theyโre about to throw spears together, they say "Down Eros, Up Mars", which at first glance could simply mean love is nothing, and war everything, indicative of how their friendship is likely to fall apart. As far as it goes in the book, Messala is quite upfront about his intentions, leaving Judah to choose between a future for their love, or a potential free one for his people. Here in the following scene, things are pretty much the same, on the surface at least. Yet if you pay close attention to the positioning of certain elements, the spears high up there on that cross/crucifix, and the two of them holding hands beneath it, youโll begin to see the clever choice made to suggest this is a loverโs quarrel, for up there reigns Mars, and Eros is down where they are.

does anyone have that webm from either some Japanese or Korean film or tv show where a woman is being interviewed and is asked her hobbies, to which she says something along the lines of "I enjoy watching movies" and then the interviewer says "Isn't that the same as having no hobby?"
I liked that one scene from The Rookie where the asian woman's stuff gets stolen while she's peeing by her retard "mentor" and she has to stop peeing and run out to catch whoever stole it
I wish there were just a movie about asian woman cops having to pee

a film shouldn't be exceedingly dull to watch. I cannot believe that you are sitting at home staring at someone eat a baked potato for 30 minutes, I'm sorry. His films would work better as art installations, if that was his goal. a fox's rotting corpse would make a better film and art piece than a 6 hour Tarr historic.
Michael Haneke is an example of using long takes to punctuate the action that has just happened on screen and he uses it to stunning effect. They work well within the context of his movies, interspersed alongside heteronormative speed cinema.. In stark contrast, for example, 2001: A Space Odyssey's long takes are boring and dull. Little or no new information is gained. In fact, you can even hear the characters IN THE FILM COMMENTING ON HOW DULL IT IS during these long takes.
>"uhhhhhhhh.............. we're gonna have to bring you back in."
^^^ I don't give a fuck if this is bait, I agree with all of it 100%.
>>211380588For a pasta, it's kinda reflective of cinema in itself.
Thanks.
Anybody who pretends to like this movie is only pretending to do so to fulfill some need to be accepted by their fellow cinephiles. A movie with a high rating because everybody thinks they should give it a good rating to fit in. The movie equivalent of taping a banana to a wall and calling it art.

>>211370349 (OP)>What's your sincere opinion of Ben-Hur? Do you think the film will be surpassed by another biblical movie anytime soon?I thought it was good, but I'd say it's pretty comparable to The Ten Commandments as far as epic biblical film quality.
>>211370349 (OP)Verily, I say unto thee, "Ben-Hur" was a most lamentable film, full of errors and deceits. The acting was wooden, the special effects were clumsy, and the story was a pale shadow of the classic tale it purported to tell.
The characters were but caricatures, lacking depth and substance, their dialogue was stilted and their motivations were unclear. The pacing of the film was slow, and the climax was underwhelming.
The film was a great disappointment, and I would advise all to stay far away from it, lest they too be taken in by its false promises. It is a vanity, a thing to be despised and mocked, a film that will soon be forgotten and consigned to the dustbin of cinematic history.
I would rather spend my time reading the script of the original story, than to sit through this abomination again.
So it shall be written, so it shall be done.

>>211385341>Why does nobody talk about it?Americans are afraid of publicly liking anything that depicts "Blacks" in a negative light (even though they're all various different groups of Africans, not actual African-Americans) while for Europeans it provokes their trauma response from the World Wars because it implies that Europeans weren't the most evil and awful people ever
>>211385278>namefag thinks he's entitled to a valid opinion
>>211385164No, bro, you only post completely teenaged shit, and you're supposed to be at least 18 to post here.
>>211385485With what? He asked a question about why a controversial film is controversial and I answered it.
>>211385573I think a more straighforward response would be "it's a film with heavy themes and contains legitimate snuff film material", but of course, as anon said, you're just one of many guys in this site obsessed with making everything about some idpol or race issue. To be supposedly "conservative", this site is pretty much just the conservacuck idea of the modern leftist: obsessed with injustice, idpol and race.
>>211385572Allow me to explain:
Possession movies are primarily for women and trannies. They almost exclusively feature women or girls getting possessed, and women like them a lot because they're naturally submissive and the idea is both deeply disturbing but also somewhat sexual on a primal level. It plays on feminine psychology which is why there's such an increasing gender gap between horror fans as of late, with women preferring horror more and more compared to men.
As for trannies, they see the "possession" representing either their dysphoria or their own biology fighting against the delusions of their gnostic sexual ideas.
Adam has a fucking runny nose, it's almost in his mouth and doesn't notice it and wipe it, i cannot watch this.
>>211385633It's literally a film about racial and ethnic conflicts in post-colonial Africa. There's plenty of other documentaries and films from that time (i.e Faces of Death) that are controversial for being violent, but Africa Addio is far more controversial for the political/ideological angle than anything else.
i'm gonna fuckin bake i'm almost there I can't hold it in
>>211385633The film itself is a critique on post colonial insurgent groups. How can you remove race from it and reduce it to just "heavy themes"?
>>211385693Lots of assumptions, barely anyone of them making sense. Study medieval possesion myths and witch hunts to understand the implications of possession movies revolving mainly about women.
>>211385748Only time I ever see the film being discussed is because of the snuff material.
>>211385803That's what Zoom Zoom did, ironically. Post colonialism doesn't have anything to do with whites being unable to look at the film for it depicting black people in a negative light lmao
>>211385787No, I already have the sauce ready, and I've waited 3 days for it.
>>211385858What is it going to be, then?
If you don't say it, I'll bake myself
>>211385813>Study medieval possesion myths and witch hunts to understand the implications of possession movies revolving mainly about women.I've also studied the fact that most of these movies are made by European Marxists and Postmodernists (nothing inherently wrong with that, they've arguably made more excellent films than anyone) and thus they deliberately reinterpret these historical concepts and tropes into Marxist and Postmodernist ways. It's intellectually dishonest to ignore, and those Letterboxd types I was talking about will gleefully point this out and explain if you ask this nicely.
>Only time I ever see the film being discussed is because of the snuff material. Then you've never seen this particular film be discussed anywhere lmao, hell here's an Ebert review from 1967 where he spends the whole time seething about the film for being "racist" and going on about the time he spent in Sotuh Africa instead of actually discussing anything about it:
https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/africa-addio-1967
>>211385930Ebert was insanely gay about race/racial themes.
Some films are so bad and so undeserving of oneโs attention that I just fast forward through it, getting the gist of it, and then proceed to rate it poorly on letterboxd.
>>211385930But the film is obviously racist lol, it doesn't have to do with a negative depiction of blacks, but with an inferior and prejudiced depiction of blacks coming from a completely distorted view of the african continent. It's kinda like if you sent two racist 4channelers to Asia to make a film about China and they just projected their stereotypes of asian culture onto the film and its message.

>Perhaps I am more in touch with them now and recognize how close to home the movie strikes. I fear the storyโs hero represents me and finds me lacking machismo. Not since grade school have I ever willingly been in a fistfight. I have never fired a rifle, except in ROTC classes, and never touched a handgun. I avoid physical confrontation. When somebody tries to cut me off on an expressway, I let them. I depend on society to protect me. I have always feared I couldnโt do it myself. It also depicts as whites being complete retards making a black run with a frozen fox to excersise their hobby from the motherland.
