It's cool to actually see society gradually collapse instead of just having the world end overnight like in most zombie storiesm

I used to watch Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred while I lied in bed with my ex-girlfriend in her little apartment at college. It's hard to watch now even though years have gone by. I've found another woman and I love her, even dated her longer at this point, but it's not the same. I'll never know the passion that I felt with my first love again, and I guess I'm alright with that. Smile that it happened as they say. Christ, I need a mother fucking drink but I told myself I'd cut down and not drink until the weekend. Lord give me fucking strength. Goddamn it. I quit smoking too.

Just one?
Unironically 28 days later. I am a pharmacist solely because of watching that movie on a daily basis for like 2 years straight as a teen. I was on a crossroad of where I want to go with my education and potential career and that movie helped to trim down the choices and make up my mind. Weeks was a fucking shitshow, I am still baffled why they've made it or filming Years
More than one?
Dawn of the Dead (both versions), Day (the original), Ravenous (the Canadian one). #Alive was weirdly funny. Technically speaking, The Void is a zombie flick, so here we are.
Girl with All the Gifts is pure guilty pleasure, since it has three actors that I love playing the leads in a zombie flick, despite being a The Last of Us rip-off.

Different anon, but I saw it as my first contact with Dawn back in the VHS era. And it was meh, to the point I was questioning why people masturbate so much to this movie.
THEN I saw the actual Dawn and realised Argento fucked shit up pretty hard

I almost don't want to suggest this because the way the movie is structured it's kind of a big spoiler, I think knowing it will detract from the viewing experience
But it's a good movie with a pretty original take

Original Dawn of the Dead, which is set like 2 months into the apocalypse when it opens and then goes on and on with it.
Diaries of the Dead (sue me, it's the only watchable of the post-Day Romero movies) does the same on modern level. The next movie, while being near-unwatchable, further dwells on the concept of desertion and morale erosion.
This >>211375245 is also really neat - the services are on, the army is doing their very fucking best and there is a lot of fortified positions right off the bat, despite it being with runner zombies, so they have the extra hurdle of having actually dangerous zeds and still doing better than people and society at large in most of those movies

The original Romero trilogy, Night remake, Return of the Living Dead are my favorites. It seems really difficult for anyone who isn't Romero to make a decent zombie movie. I don't really hold him to high regards as a man, but he managed to make three great zombie pictures.

It's more that everyone whines if the movies and zombies are to similar and yet more of the same stuff. So every new movie has to keep trying to innovate, change the formula, change the zombies. There's only so many ways to change it before it gets silly and stupid. Fast, strong, smart, mutated, flying, etc. Just gets worse and the movies bomb. The only way to get the same old boring slow zombies is in a game, which is fine.

This is as good as one can hope zombie stuff will ever get. Some of the scenes make WWZ scenes look like movies for babies. Too bad the 2nd season sucked (Black Summer in winter!) and got it canceled. The first season is the only one worth watching and it's unironically a masterpiece of zombie media.

I'm just gonna say it. I love Resident Evil Apocalypse. The whole outbreak in the city setting just does it for me. It's my goddamn fetish i love that shit so much. God I wish i had more. If I could join some kind of plantation of slaves that worked so that their paychecks would go towards funding more movies set in the initial outbreak and chaos i would. I'd give it all. I'd sell my mother into slavery.

Apocalypse is amazing, but the lack of any blood or gore makes it fall flat for me. I don't need extreme levels, but if you rewatch you'll see how little there is when you have guys shooting hordes of zombies. If Nicotero or Savini did Resident Evil Apocalypse's effects then it'd be the goat.

Its very schlocky and jewy. Some bad actors and characters also drag it down. The big redeeming aspect is it shows the slow decay of the city over 3 seasons and its welo paced. 4th season is your proper ending.

I replay it so much, I'm just cruising through the first half of it on pure autopilot at this point.
Sequels... exist. For every thing they improve on, they fuck up another.
I wish just that the original had a longer campaign (third act is barren nothing, to the point you can speed run the game and directly move from church to Fairfielf) and it wasn't an X-Bone game (so guns wouldn't be so shit). It's a great game, and for first... 5-6 playthroughs absolutely perfect, but eventually, all the issues it has start to rear their heads. I kinda force myself to not play it more often than once per 6 months, or else I just notice too many minor problems.

My favorite is Return of the Living Dead, sticks out the most compared to most of the many, many shitty zombie shows and movies I've watched.

Worst would be one of the 3 or 4 terrible Korean Netflix shows, I kept getting tricked into watching them. They're all the same; start with a great premise, become increasingly less and less about the original premise, and finally just devolve into boring K-dramas with zombies as a rare backdrop.

I really liked Killing Floor in like 2010 but it probably aged like milk (no players, muddy graphics). Beyond that you can't go wrong with L4D2, that's still a blast to play.
The unique gore and ragdoll mechanics are still impressive.
