Maybe wait and see what happens with the rest of the show first before watching it. Something that really drags the show down is that they've modernised the Gorn into Xenomorph rip offs and it's pretty ill fitting. It's an episodic show, so not every episode is about the Gorn but I think how they handle the Gorn in the future will be the deciding point for me of whether it'll be a show that's worth going back to.

You need writers who understand story structure and character development. This comes from years of experience. Classic Trek writers actually saw the military from the inside. This. All NuTrek sucks balls. They used to be episodic morality plays where they presented an ethical quandary and showed both sides. Sometimes difficult decisions had to be made but they would explain it for the audience.
Now it is just political leftist browbeating with a bunch of action scenes shoehorned in that are meaningless because you don't care. Most of the best Star Trek had little to no action, and if there was it was in service to the story.
You can't have a proper ethical quandary morality play in NuTrek because you can't present both sides of an issue without the childishly shortsighted emotional leftist reasoning losing every time. So there's no way to present real character conflict or drama to be had - which was what made classic Star Trek so great. Classic Trek didn't beat you over the head telling you who was "bad" or "good" and hamfistedly make every single event an glaringly obvious allegory for some contemporary political issue. "oh no picard they are arresting the poor hardworking immigrant Romulans. Guess Starfleet are fascists now." It was often simple age old philisophical things of a grander scope like nature vs nurture, or the nature of free will etc.
They basically threw away everything that made Star Trek so unique and good and turned it into poorly written propaganda slop. Granted I only watched Picard of all the new shit but I just assume this of all the rest bc that's every decent IP now.

I think Gorn in the show are augments from the future, as they have advanced tech, know codes from Enterprise and appeared during flare event(which is associated with time travel in Kirk's era).Possibly connected to that shadowy group involved with time travel and augments in Kirk episode when they went to Canada in our time.

Long time star trek watcher. The series is pretty good. The best of nu trek. Some wonky plotlines and stories baffling because it's a short season so the quality control should be higher. Not that I want to shill for Strange New Worlds but this isn't really a Netflix-esque cancellation. Its a two-season order with a smaller order for season 5 and an announcement that season 5 will be the last. They're still ordering two more seasons.
