RTD2 has episodes that are worth watching unlike Jodie's era. It feels like the people saying that it's worse than Chibnall are the people who skipped Chibnall. And honestly, RTD basically has ignored the Timeless Child. He put in some lipservice about it at the beginning but the line that always gets pushed is that the Doctor is a timelord from the planet Gallifrey. And bi-generation is fan wanky at worst, in practice it's just another Doctor that's around that just like how there are probably hundreds of Doctors on Earth at one time that it's very rare that the Doctor would ever cross into his own timeline.
Really, the biggest problem with RTD2 is that it feels like an old man who doesn't quite understand anything recent with how it handles it's politics. Even to someone to tries to stay out of that shit like me, it's a little obvious that he doesn't quite know what he's doing in that regard. The prime exhibit being TRose where he does a decent job with the home drama but then completely shits the bed with the non-binary shit, and just having TRose exist as a character to say that trannies are persecuted. And you can tell it's definitely him struggling to fit in because I don't think anyone genuinely embedded in those beliefs would have the Doctor enable a cosmic rape and not treat it as the morally grey at best thing it is. Even his Dot and Bubble script is obviously repurposed from the residents of that planet not wanting the Doctor's help because he's a nut case non-conformist and not racism because it was a story written for 11.

In the Chibnall vs RTD2 debate I would say there is simply more issues with RTD2: how it is S1 despite relying on things from both Nu & Classic and how it is that poorly explained new viewers are going to be confused, Tennant coming back and now Piper as the Doctor; Undoing Donna's story; Male presenting Time Lord; 'Rose'; the way Ruby and Belinda are poorly handled; the handling of returning characters of Toymaker, Sutekh, Omega, and Susan; stuff about the Pantheon; Space Babies; Planet of the Incels; How UNIT is handled; Bigeneration; Timeless Child remaining. And all this is over 3 specials and 14 stories with Gatwa. With Chibnall the two big things are female Doctor (even at the time I felt that was an inherently bad idea) that did nothing with the concept and Timeless Child, but a lot his era is just bland and more incompetence compared to RTD2 that is 'fuck you audience'.

It's hilarious how that show was a microcosm showing off his problems with pulling off endings. Starts out with his take on Dracula, it's pretty good. Second episode does the same on the boat, it's pretty good again. At this point it could have been remembered as a good miniseries adaptation that did its own thing if he pulled off the last episode. Instead he decided to blow our minds with a twist ending where there's a time skip to the current day and Dracula is being arrested by a secret organisation that have been waiting for him to show up for the last 200 years and you're meant to go "holy shit what" in typical Moffat fashion. Then the third episode just goes completely full fucking retard by having him immediately escape those guys, only to then get caught once again, but then he hacks the wifi in his holding cell by guessing that the password is Dracula and calls a fucking lawyer that shows up and threatens the secret organisation with the cops if they don't release the immortal serial killer and they just fucking do it, and that's it for the whole secret organisation angle to the story. Now we're just back to retelling Dracula with him wooing Lucy but it's set in the modern day for no fucking reason and Quincy doesn't even get to chop his head off.

Look, I have no problems with women doctors, or doctors of color. I wouldn't have a problem with the doctor being gay or bi, but it's clear they have no idea how to write fags respectfully and with taste and class, and only know how to fetishize one's sexuality. So keep the doctor straight, simple as. And the other requirement is also simple. Make the doctor's actor or actress attractive. If it's a male, make him be more masculine. Something the women'll find attractive, but the men won't find intimidating (since fucking onions faggots infest the fandom now) and would look up to/respect. If it's a woman, same thing but in reverse. Hot take, but Piper is fine, cherrypicked bogging pics aside. It's fine if the doctor takes on a darker tone, too, or if they decide the doctor should be quirky, it's entirely possible to do that (troughton) without making them retarded (jodie) cringelords that make you want to find the nearest rope. For fucks sake, it's like people forgot that you can diversity cast without choosing the ugliest, cringiest, or most flamboyant stereotype person to cast. Tomorrow is the announcement of Capaldi doing one with Matt Lucas and Wednesday they confirm Tennant, Smith, Capaldi, Jodie & McGann are in the actual 60th.

Thursday they will announce that in 2023 McGann will be starring in a 10 episode 20 minutes or less per episode mini-series with a self contained story that takes place over the 10 episodes that connects with the last 2 episodes
but up until then you think each episode is random. I've heard it described as a clever Doctor who Anthology series.
No word on who his companion/s are/will be.

Friday is a big one, they announce that in 2023 we will be getting a new season of Torchwood and if it does well
enough with the fans then it will be properly back. Russel apparently has big plans for Jack if all goes to plan. he will use the new season as a sort of soft reboot of the show.

Jo Grant is getting a show for 2024 that will be all about her, UNIT and the return of K9! Luke and the gang from Sarah Jane Adventures is set to show up though it may just be for a couple episodes. This is meant to appeal to the younger audience, though things are going to start connecting a lot more so is recommended to be watched even as an adult.

Rather than create some mass-stakes galactic conflict event, I would be tempted to make it small-scale. Have a single Sontaran in command of some non-Sontaran forces, but unlike The Time Warrior his forces are actually competent and it is all down to him. The threat comes from his skill in tactics and strategy as opposed to just something like 'the Sontarans have a billion ships' or the 'the Sontarans have some doomsday weapon.' Have this Sontaran involved in what is a sideshow to a sideshow in Sontaran-Rutan War, with the Doctor caught up in what is a minor conflict in the grand scheme of the conflict but for those involved massive.
