I cannot believe there are people in this thread that do not watch the best horror movie podcast
lifelong horror fan here. Lowlifes is one of the worst horror films of the past decade. If you ever even consider watching it, you're allowing a tranny spammer to win. You will waste an hour and a half of your life that you will never get back.

Finished Friday the 13th part 4: The Final Chapter.
It's sad that this is the final chapter in the Friday the 13th series, but all things have to end. I really respect the studio for having the integrity to put their foot down and say "no, we aren't going to milk this for the next 40+ years, this is the FINAL chapter. This is the end." It takes a lot of backbone to make a decision like that, but you know, it's what's best for the series and it's great that they recognized that. Some people are just in it for the money, but clearly not these guys. Imagine how embarrassing it would be to continue the series for 10, 12 movies, and never call it quits, just selling the license to any old putz to make a sequel or a reboot or a spin-off. That's what sets Friday the 13th apart, though. They knew they had a hit and they just wanted to see it through to completion, which they did. 4 movies. A quadrilogy. Four. A fine number, four. Any more than that, as the studio realized, would simply be foolish.
"Four." I love the sound of it. You know, the Spanish say "quatro," but that doesn't have the same ring.
Part FOUR. Now that's a hell of a finish. A great finish to a great series. The last of the Jason saga. Never again to be revisited. Bittersweet.
Anyway, goodnight *blows out Jack-o-Lantern*

As dumb as it is, I miss these movies. They had a real Halloweeny, Americana vibe to them from a time when you didn't have to make a great movie, you just had to have some heart and love for the tradition.

With the rise of social media platforms like TikTok, trick-or-treating is slowly dying off. I, for one, welcome AI video generation like what Veo 3 produces. We'll soon be able to make entire horror movies from our computers. I can finally make all my horror movie ideas become a reality without the need of actual talent or being jewish.

>rob zombie is worth 50 million dollars but he asked his fans to finance the movie 31. kek. his films are low budget too, like House is his only big budget film and most of the others are like 1.5m.
He should pump more money into them, what's the point of dying with 50m in the bank vs. being remembered for kino.
>>211441935It is actually. Most would just want some booba woman to get killed. Others would want vampires sucking blood. I'd want to create a FF movie, which I think AI would struggle greatly with, actually. The only person that would do what you posted is NPM.
>>211442032>what's the point of dying with 50m in the bankThe only reason to ever hoard money is if you have kids so you can pass it on to them. He doesn't, so it makes no sense to die with it. I don't understand why people do this.

for example,
Kevin Bacon and his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, lost money due to the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were among the many people defrauded by Bernie Madoff.
Although the exact amount is unknown, reports suggest the couple lost a considerable amount, likely millions. Bacon stated that they had "most of [their] money in Madoff".
I get it. but with your OWN movie, your OWN script. how can rob zombie be so afraid of investing in his own work?

>>211442165This is the kind of shoeleather reporting I come here for. I know Nic Cage was another fortune blowout.
>I go to this gym. It has a few machines and only a handful of people there at any given time. Thereโs no showers, itโs very bare bones," he added. "But thereโs a leg press machine. A leg press can be brutal. . . The machine is right next to a window, and when I look out that window, Iโm looking right at the building where Madoff was.>Bacon likened the "excruciating pain" he feels while using the leg press and staring at the building Madoff's company, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, was housed in to how he felt after he and Sedgwick learned they were victimized by the Ponzi scheme, which was estimated to be worth some $64.8 billion. This is like an Onion quote, but it's real.
>>211442142>huh always kind of imagined him as a "had a kid at 19 before getting famous" kind of guyIn the making of for Halloween, he stated how much he hated having to work with the kids and pawned some of it off on the assistant director. Dude just hates kids, which is fine. It's better to recognize kids aren't for you than to have them anyway and ruin their lives.
>>211398008It's a horror movie in the same way American Psycho is. They're both satirical pieces about one man's descent into madness as he kills a bunch of people, using horror tropes for humor and satire.
This is from an interview the director did on the film btw:
>For me the typical horror film is a chainsaw massacre. And, of course this wasn't possible to do during the socialist era. Here we used another Czech attribute ๏ฟฝvejkov๏ฟฝn๏ฟฝ.[9] I tried to derogate the scenes and use humour, because it largely counter-balances the horror. Humour was also a way to smuggle the film into approbation and projection. So it was very deliberate to combine horror with humour. I think that you can see this best in Spalova๏ฟฝ mrtvol. And I also think that horror by itself cannot exist. People need to take a breath during the projection and when there is no humour in the film they find it anyway and they laugh at scenes that the director didn't create as funny.>I heard about a book with an interesting title, Spalova๏ฟฝ mrtvol, written by Ladislav Fuks. So I read it and I was actually disappointed. But I arranged a meeting with Fuks anyway, and we worked on the script for about two years. During shooting, it became clear that this was a unique chance which wouldn't come again. It was in 1968, and I had absolute liberty in my work. I could film whatever I wanted to. In Spalova๏ฟฝ mrtvol, I was fascinated by the humor. I went to various projections of the film in many different countries, from the Netherlands to Naples, and I was keen to see how the reactions of the audience were completely different in every country. In Prague, people were depressed; in Slovakia, they laughed; in the Netherlands, it was a comedy from the beginning to the end; in Italy, the spectators went from the cinema right to the bar because cremation is just impossible, awful and unacceptable in their country.
>>211398008>>211442321Cont:
>When I was working on Spalova๏ฟฝ I knew that it was the right way, it is my feel for humor, my feel for something that could be called a horror humor, even if I don't take Spalova๏ฟฝ as a pure horror film: I think it is more a psychological thriller or psychological horror. So I had two other scripts ready with Fuks. The first was "P๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝb๏ฟฝh policejn๏ฟฝho rady" [The Story of a Police Councillor], for which I wanted to cast Rudolf Hru๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝnsk๏ฟฝ [who played the lead role in Spalova๏ฟฝ mrtvol] and his son Jan, because there are characters of a father and a son.Intention is what really matters here, but even the director agrees that it's not a traditional horror film per se. I also feel that when it comes to horror comedies in particular, it shouldnโt really matter if the movie is Gremlins style of both laughs and frights more evenly distributed, or if it's more like Beetlejuice where the frights are played for laughs instead. Theyโre both using horror tropes and elements for their comedy either way, and without the horror aspect they would be completely different movies so one canโt simply claim that theyโre purely in the realm of comedy either.

I'm a big tent kind of guy, so don't actually mind the horror tag. I suppose why I wrote that was that like the Czech's in Prague I was actually quite affected by it, more than any holocaust tearjerker. Normally horror as some escapism whereas this slowly turned into drama about the real world.

>>211442644oh yep. personally I like coloured dead body zombies just because there's a surreal element to it. same to the over the top Italian zombies. neither of them actually look like corpses, it's like they become another kind of entity.
same thing with j-horror films where dead people always turn blue.
realism in both films and video games isn't as good as style. but people are afraid of sticking their necks out now.

>>211442824Kek. I didn't make that but to be fair, the awkwardness adds a little bit of authenticity to something that didn't actually happen.
>>211442536Cute boy :)
>>211440868Freaks was good, kinda like X-men without the super hero element.
>>211442530I hear you. It's remarkable in its own way that people can have such wildly different experiences and ideas of what both horror and comedy is, but I do think some people are just very narrow minded in what they think horror is compared to comedy or when the two mix and it might be 'more comedy than horror' or whatever. I used to be like that myself too so it's not like I don't understand some of the confusion which wasn't helped by some people's desire to label a horror movie they happened to like or that was highly regarded as anything other than horror which they normally hate and consider to be nothing but exploitative B-movies which is very sad to me.
But that's what I love about this genre now, that it actually has so many different takes and so much variety because what we find horrifying is going to be different from person to person just like our brand of humor might differ from one another. I guess that's why horror and comedy go together so well.
anyone know what film this is. saved it a while ago.

Oh yeah, it's time for another pointless post with my brief thoughts on what I just watched:
>Morgan: Killer Doll
Jesus, this is shit. I decided to watch this 15 minutes beforehand, and what a mistake that was. It seems like one of those Lifetime movies, and it's just as bad as you think it would be. The only scene in the entire movie that's good is when the crazy girl imagines she's making out with her female love interest. Everything else is hard to get through it's so bad.
>The Antarctic Octopus
I really have to stop watching these mainland China CGI creature movies. The acting, dialogue, CGI, choreographing, and pretty much everything is absolutely awful. The worst parts are when it's painfully obviously that the scene is filled in a green screen box. It's still amazing how Taiwan and HK can be good at making movies and yet mainland China generally sucks at it.
>Idol Never Dies
This fucker was labeled wrong because it's not horror. This is a music sci-fi drama with I some comedy thrown in. It's not good, but it's at least interesting for the first 20-30 minutes. The acting is what you'd expect from a cast filled with real B/C-tier Idols. Can't recommend this even if you're big into Idol shit.

It's prob attracted to /hor/ because it can see that people get along, that's why it rants about community/consensus and probably why it's obsessed with reddit-- it can see what looks like a friend group and simultaneously desires and detests those existing, but also believes they're all gamed and the only reason it can game it is because it doesn't have the right cheat code yet. Obviously those beliefs and feelings are why it has no friends in the first place, and they're also why it can't like anything or hate anything without it being some effort to socially fit in an ingroup and socially abuse an outgroup.
Using it throughout because it would change it's gender and fav actress if it thought that was the cheat code it needed for more social power, much like the clown

Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder.
>>211455957Just stick with "Nope", that's the only good film he's made so far. It's not perfect, its too long and would benefit from scenes being trimmed or cut altogether, and his comedy just isn't all that funny even if some scenes would get chuckles from me. But beyond those flaws and it being a massive waste of Keith David, its a fairly enjoyable alien film that blows all of his older projects out of the water.

>>211456311I dont hate Jordan Peele, but its more that people began to hype him up as a new "master of horror" just because Get Out premiered and was relevant to 2017's America and because it was a competently made film. Short, focused, wasn't a revolutionary masterpiece but also was far from terrible, which was enough to get some people to immediately lose their minds over him. I can see people eventually turning on him like M. Night Shyamalan for a bit or calling him overhyped, but as long as the rest of his work is "Nope" levels of quality and better then he'll happily have his niche.
>>211456311I liked it myself after going into it with the same trepidation. It's genuinely odd and while the white characters are kind of unlikable there's no real sense of "white people bad".
