So I'm supposed to believe that this absolute piece of kinography is somehow worse than Luke/Obi-Wan and Vader awkwardly hitting sticks together?

Let's look at that Mustafar fight. Obi-Wan is mad at Anakin because he killed children; also known as "Younglings", so that we don't have to use the phrase "Killed children" in a movie made for children. And then Anakin is mad at Obi-Wan, because Obi-Wan's a meany-head.
So they fight, and they fight, and they fight more, and they keep fighting.
"It was a challenge in the Obi/Anakin fight", noted Ewan McGregor, "because 3 or 4 minutes in you get over the initial explosion of the fight, and why they're fighting."
He basically says that the character's emotional state is no longer important because the fucking fight goes on for too long.
They explain in excruciating detail just how much work went into shooting a sequence like this, and it's quite amazing, the level of difficulty and complexity. All to make a sequence that the audience will ultimately find boring, 'cause there's nothing else going on other than that they're fighting.
The point is Anakin loses. Stretching it out for so long in such an over-the-top show-off way only makes me think of one thing. I think of a little middle-aged businessman. He's short, he's balding, and he has a tiny penis so he buys a red Lamborghini to compensate. This entire sequence is the film version of compensating for lack of a story and ability to connect with the audience on an emotional level.
>>211455376 (OP)How come all the lightsaber duels in the prequels are expertly choreographed, even keeping in mind specific lore-based fighting styles while nu star wars is as bad or worse than the original trilogy saber fights?
>>211455376 (OP)>>211455571Style vs Substance, Obi/ Anakin was impressive visually with lots of fancy moves, a dynamic setting and admittedly great looking cgi while Luke/Vader is more about the underlying tension of the fight with a slower pace overall, allowing the viewer to take it all in and really feel what Luke is feeling.
I saw this recently and all I could think was the scene a bit earlier where they're both chumming it up and Obi wan calls him wise, which in the context of the film was probably like a day ago. Its like the film couldnt even wait until "And he was a good friend" for the tonal headache and just general bizarreness to start
>>211455376 (OP)Nah, only retarded neckbeards think that.
Nu-Star Wars light saber fights are overly choreographed nonsense.
At least the old ones had gravitas.
>>211459666Acolyte is like the prequels but better.
Luke's fights with Vader in TESB and RotJ are the peaks of the franchise. There's no way you unironically think the overindulgent fight in RotS is better.
>>211460259Nah, the Duel of Fates and Anakin vs Obi-Wan on Mustafar is much better.

>>211457507As usual retard Mike does what he usually does, lies and ignores nuance and context.
Just because this screeching jew denies the prequel duels having any emotional weight it doesn't mean that they don't have any.
>>211459771Except the Mustafar fight is also absolutely about the emotions of the characters. Luke and Vader on Cloud City is shadowy and slowly paced because Luke is unsure of himself and the world he is in, both figuratively and literally.
The Mustafar setting is reflective of Anakin's explosive rage, it's both showing his rage and passion through the tumultuous lava exploding around them, but also the same descent into hell symbolism of the Cloud City fight.
