It's benefitted greatly from the hiatus in standalone Bat movies, no one is getting excited for a sequel on the basis of that or The Penguin. It looks like a Netflix movie at best and a student film at worst. Utter trash.
This franchise is an exception to most rules and it's being strangled by the pressure to set up a series of sequels with no roadmap or commitment.
It would be better off to do big marquee self-contained movies, bringing in different directors and actors, maintaining loose continuity, time skips and genre changes are fine too.
We're not asking for miracles, basically any competent ripoff of an older, better genre movie which features Batman should always be a blockbuster as long as film exists. Treat it like the event it is and the worst case scenario is people beg for a spinoff sequel of a particularly good one.

I know we're talking about Batman but the movie leans so heavily into a realistic, character driven take that's more downbeat and dire than previous, Bruce is more vulnerable and lightly equipped, younger with a stealthier physique.
It just feels lazy to have Battinson doing typical Arkham Asylum combos on hordes when everything else is so different, the inclusion of the magic green juice is the culmination of their failure to walk the line between his inexperience and tenacity.

As for the armor, the highest level of bulletproof material could reasonably sustain what he takes, especially in a fantastical world.

Remember, he didn't get hit by the bomb. Rather, the force of the blast.
