killing of a chinese bookie is a non-obvious one thats great
the conversation hasn't been mentioned yet.
the acting style, the editing, all make these movies seem more realistic, vital and riveting than most contemporary movies.
The 70's were a great time for cinema
if you like sleazy cop movies, pic related is underated
There some 24 karat kino mentioned in this thread. /tv/ obviously has great taste in movies. Why do we always end up talking about capeshit?
Jaws (1975)
Close Encounters (1977)
Alien (1979)
Star Wars (1977)
The Exorcist (1973)
The 70s were really the best decade for movies with a lot a variation. There were romcoms like 10 (1979) with dudley moore , Cartoonish WWII movies like kellys heros (1970) , Caper films like the taking of Pelham 123(1974) , violent cop films like the French Connection (1972) and Serpico (1973).
>dogday afternonn
Pacino would eat cigarettes to make him feel nauseous, look pale and wired when making this movie. He did that for three fucking weeks. And no its not fucking "woke". Sonny having a troon partner was supposed to disgust and disorientate the audience. it wasn't an act of virtue signalling to make the audience feel better about themselves
The deer Hunter and every single thing John Cazale was in (who actually gave himself lung cancer to make his characters look pale, sweaty and feeble to enhance the movie. not a lot of actors would give themselves cancer for a movie anymore. )
>>211463006At the end of the film when it's explained what happened to the real people later, it says the faggot got his surgery and "is a woman now". Seems kinda woke to me. Besides that shit, a good film.
To answer OP, Coma (1978).
>All the presidents men
When journalists used to be something better than fat fucking yootoobers appealing to lowest common denominators for lieks and updoots. When people used to have self-respect
>>211463340>when it's explained what happened to the real people laterthe jews added that part in THE JEWS (produced by Martin ((Bregman)) see SEE!)
>>211463489>Journalists used to be something betterFun fact - Woodward left the Navy and became a "journalist" because the Deputy Head of the FBI told him to. Less than a year later, the same FBI director leaked the Watergate story.
Journalists have been largely government plants since at least the 1950s.
it was a totally different time. you look at any "top 100 of then70's" list and it was primarily movies made for adults (eg https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-lists/100-best-movies-of-the-1970s-1234675927/) Whereas most of the shit that makes it into movie theaters or is discussed here is for teenagers/manchildren.
I look at the top ten in the rolling stones article and I think the only movie in it that most of the people I know under 40 could TOLERATE, never-mind enjoy, would be Jaws.
Days of Heaven gets my vote for what its worth
>>211463489Nixon frame
This movie is just dishonest propaganda
>>211463936it was a better time.
>>211457694 (OP)Deep Red (Profondo Rosso)
>>211463994Nixon is a weird fish. He was completely dishonest and did real damage to the country, undermined Americaโs self-image in a lasting way. But the deeper you dig into his life, the more complicated he becomes. You start to feel sorry for him and even develop a kind of sympathy for him. At times you come close to admiring him. He really is intelligent. Reading his biographies feels like a roller coaster ride.
He wasn't a straight forward piece of shit like today's politicians. He really was a self-made guy who came from not much.
There was a Nixon movie with anthony hopkins which is probably best forgotten.... but he would be a fantastic subject for a HBO style mini-series.
The era in which he was involved in politics is fascinating.

Jack Niggleson is Buddusky
Otis Young is Mule
Quaid is Meadows
>In Norfolk, Virginia, Navy lifers Signalman First Class Billy "Badass" Buddusky and Gunner's Mate First Class Richard "Mule" Mulhall are assigned a shore patrol detail escorting 18-year-old seaman Larry Meadows to Portsmouth Naval Prison near Kittery, Maine. Meadows has been court-martialed, dishonorably discharged, and has received a harsh sentence of eight years in the brig for attempting to steal $40 from a charity donation box, which happened to be run by the wife of the Norfolk Naval Base Commander.>Badass and Mule are given one week to escort Meadows to the Portsmouth brig. Despite their initial resentment of the detail, they soon come to like the young sailor, who is timid, naive, and resigned to his fate. They also discover that Meadows is a kleptomaniac. Believing that Meadows received an unjust sentence, Badass and Mule decide to make his journey to the brig as pleasant as possible; the pair make several stops along their route to provide bon-voyage adventures for the young man.>The trio's activities include bar-hopping, brawling with Marines, and other misadventures. They stay overnight at a hotel, drinking beer and watching TV after missing their train. Badass teaches Meadows some flag semaphore signals and tries to get the young prisoner to stick up for himself by provoking him into a fight, but is unsuccessful. The following morning, they take a detour to Camden, New Jersey to visit Meadows's mother, but she is not home. Meadows is embarrassed and ashamed after the three enter the house and find it unkempt with several empty liquor bottles lying around
