In S1, they attempted to get people who didn't know Sam Hyde, at least, but generally failed. They weren't so obvious about being fans though, and it felt largely authentic. The last 1/3 they reset the house and did "Famous House 2.0" again where it's some of the original contestants, and some entirely new ones. But now, the original contestants are in on the jokes.
