>>211503341Think about it this way, cotton is objectively a terrible father and fucked up hank to the point he has many life long issues.
Hank turned out to be a great father who created a great kid with not many real issues at all. The fact all of the issues Bobby ends up having are either resolved within one episode or are not real issues and just pet peeves Hank dislikes show this
Funnily enough Hank trying so hard to adhere to his dadโs expectations is a large part of why Hank is fucked up and also why his dad dislikes him. If Hank was some major tear away who told his dad to fuck off and left to become a glam hair pop star his dad would probably like him more even though heโd think itโs faggy
Part of it is that men of that generation, whether from war trauma or just the culture, didnโt show love to their kids as part of how they were raised. Then when they are grandparents they allow themselves to show love.
Also cotton doesnโt REALLY know that much about Bobby outside of him being his grandson. He just enjoys his presence. The few time I remember them having to be around eachother for extended periods they dislike eachother. Like when cotton had to train him at military school. He begrudgingly respects him for being mush at the end but he failed to live up to expectations (even if he side steps it somewhat)
