I've been watching Xena, and while it's an enjoyable show, it's hard to get over the very blatant progressive, feminist agenda. As a character Xena is clearly a girlboss power fantasy, beating up and upstaging men in nearly every episode. They even include a male comic relief character (Joxer) who exists solely to make men look more laughable and incompetent next to Xena. She also has several non-white sexual partners, and there's a strongly implied lesbian relationship with Gabrielle. Nevertheless the show was quite successful.

I guess people weren't really bothered by this stuff at the time? Very odd as this show would be thoroughly mocked and derided if it were released today.
