>Retarded semi-rich guy makes crappy submersible
>Cuts literally every corner he can, including using a $30 Logitech MadCatz-tier controller as the only control device on board the vessel
>Doesn't hire anyone with experience to build the thing, because they aren't "inspirational" (also because the one experienced guy he did hire told him that it was a death trap, they then fired him and got sued for wrongful termination and settled out of court)
>Tricks billionaires and adventurers to pay $250k a pop to ride in his submersible
>On its third or fourth trip down to the Titanic, the inevitable happens
>They appear to be stuck at the bottom of the ocean, banging against the hull, with literally no way to be rescued
>>211519388 (OP)Iโm at least glad it was an instantaneous death. The whole โrunning out of oxygenโ bit would have been uglier.
>>211519388 (OP)there is nothing wrong with MadCatz controller
thanks, phonefag. i would have never known if not for you and the countless other threads
>>211519388 (OP)What I don't understand is why they didn't have an escape hatch on the sub. They were bolted in.
>>211519388 (OP)they weren't banging on anything in the hull.
the submersible exploded and that was the noise that was pinged.
dude was selling snake oil like those BLM founders that bought themselves mansions instead or the gay pride parade organizers that took the money for themselves.
>>211519774in that case an escape hatch would be giga niche
>>211519633is it cuz he capitalized the first letters while greentexting? I always used to do that before phoneposting became a meme and then stopped, but now I don't care because I'm not a retard. posting from my phone itt btw
>>211519388 (OP)Yeah, I remember wgen it happened. Thanks for the round up
>>211520446I would tell everyone the escape hatch is in the toilet in the front just for the keks every time the hull started crackling.
>>211520458Its because of the image name. I'm posting from my phone too.
>>211519388 (OP) $30 Logitech MadCatz-tier controller
>>211519388 (OP)Did they find any bodies?
>>211520851AI image, this is the real picture when he bragged about his sick controller
>>211520924bro they got liquefied there are no bodies
>>211520933He was ahead of his time. Future generations will appreciate him more
>>211520933he's like an icarus that goes down instead of up
why didn't he just shop around for investors and spend some extra money to build a submarine that could actually withstand the pressure? was he stupid or something?
>>211519388 (OP)>dude the logitech controller brooo>dude they were totally screaming for help and not just red mist after the hull imploded instantlyEven after the documentary people are still saying retarded shit
>>211520924they likely floated to the surface when they started putrifying but they were sadly never found. maybe they were eaten by seagulls.
>>211521216Should have gone with the same people that built James Cameronโs submersible. That thing can and did endure the pressures of the Mariana Trench.
>>211519550First thing they'll change in the Hulu dramady
My favorite part was when the news media pretended they might just be trapped at the bottom of the ocean instead of being crushed instantly, like "OHHH THEY'RE HEARING BANGING NOISES PERHAPS IT'S THEM POUNDING THE WINDOWS TO ESCAPE?"
>>211519774They would not have been able to open the hatch due to water pressure holding it shut. Same reason you can't open the door on your car if you drive into water.
>>211521503Its entirely possible that could have been happening you dumb fucking amerimutt
>>211521503to be fair, OceanGate for whatever reason withheld the fact that they heard a loud sound that was almost certainly the sub imploding and let the coast guard and media think they just lost contact.
>>211520933Couldn't even spring for the RE4 chainsaw controller, it was over before it started.
So they had no backup systems or redundancies? Like they should have been wearing wetsuits so they could quickly strap on scuba gear and head to the surface.
>>211521579Why didn't they simply build an escape pod?
How did they not have an escape pod for something like this?
There is no way in hell americans were stupid enough to think this would actually be a good and sound idea. I seriously cannot get over how stupid of a human being youโd have to be to greenlight this, much less pay money to go aboard it. America is a funny place
>>211519633i can't post threads on my phone, pretty much have to pull out the laptop to do it
>>211521579because they were 3km down lmao
>The maximum depth for divers is 200 feet.

๐
>>211521579There was a boat inside for scenarios like this, but they put the Indian guy in front and he farted, disrupting the formation, causing them to drown.
>>211521579Water pressure increases as you descend. If they exited the vessel into open water, at the depth they were at, they would be crushed. The water pressure was enough to crush the pretty thick carbon fiber hull of the sub which is far stronger than even your bones.
>>211521579scuba gear can be quite pricey and they were on a tight budget
>>211521216>spend some extra moneyHe didn't want to do that, that's the point.
>>211521579I can't tell if these posts are joking or not at this point
>>211521673Freedivers go much deeper than 200 feet.
How did these guys not get afraid of sharks?
>>211519388 (OP)Did they know they were about to die?
Idea: hypothetically they could have had a controlled way of letting water in. Because, OK, the pressure outside is too great, right? And the pressure inside isn't enough, the pressure differential is too big. So let the submarine fill up with water, just to a pressure that people can stand. Now you can be alive inside the submarine, with like breather masks or something, but the inside water is positive pressure so the difference in pressure is not so much so maybe the submarine doesn't implode
>>211521216the point was developing new technology so you could have cheaper or easier made submersibles, your pepe matches your ignoramus question
>>211521888he wasn't developing new tech, though.
How much does a titanium cylinder with integrated pork beams cost anyway
It can't be that much more than nASA grade carbon fiber
>>211521652this is what happens when you combine wealth with a midwit, most midwits would never get their shit ideas through but Stockton had the money and resources to shut up his critics and keep producing, its a good thing he tested it himself
>>211521888>he fell for the corpo PRHe wanted cheaper and actively went against advice from people who actually know what they're doing. Turns out the industry went for certain methods and materials for a reason.
>>211521942carbon fiber miniature simply manned submersible was a new idea far as I know
>>211521888what new technology did he develop? a new methodology for turning a group of people into a human milkshake?
>>211521888>>211522067>developing new technologybuddy, they talked about picking material quality that no longer made the cut for usage by the god damn aircraft manufacturer.
offtopic. has nothing to do with TV or movies
