Do people actually like media that's just a laundry list of buzzwords and self-insert fantasies? Is that really what we're gonna be watching when the next generation of film writers gets hired?

It's a self-replication problem. Modern media is a simulacrum of a simulacrum. Every new media is inspired not by the real world but by another media, which was inspired by another media as well. This is why names of significantly popular media are becoming names for new genres, like "souls-like games."

Media used to be inspired by unique experiences and struggles. Mark Twain’s works were themed around growing up in the south after the civil war and how that affected what being an American is.
Zoomers all have the same culture, struggles, and experiences so they have nothing to draw from for unique artistic expression. Unfortunately, that is going to result in a lot of derivative, post ironic garbage.
I’m glad I grew up in the 90s to 00s because that’s the last time media had soul.

Being an industry writer is already just regurgitating the producer's ideas like a prompt bot anyway.
