Good writing and likeable characters. It was also before the era of woke, so the fact that everyone is brown isn't supposed to be a political statement which means no one got offended.

I love the movie, I really do, but it feels like a made for tv material. Same with Lilo and Stitch. I don't know why, maybe too much comedy? Lion King, Mulan, Prince of Egypt, Titan AE, movies from the 90s that felt like important things were going on.

I haven't seen it yet but there's apparently a whole documentary about what a nightmare this movie was to make. Basically a whole plot and soundtrack they already did that had to get scrapped for some reason last minute. Yzma's villain song is kinda great, removing an Eartha Kitt musical number should be a crime

if a show has that logo associated with it you know that a good third of it is going to be the same recycled plots and ideas and jokes as all disneys other sitcoms, animated or live action. Even if the show itself isn't by heart a sitcom, it WILL have a bunch of sitcom plots and jokes.

Didn't Disney have no faith whatsoever in the movie, especially as it started out as a bad musical? So they left the creators alone so they could push it out and let it die. Best decision they made, no interference from executives.

It's a brown character that's deeply flawed, which humanizes him even further.

It's also Disney's best movie because there's no romantic kitsch at all, it's about brotherhood.

Stitch's realization he's on a relatively underpopulated island is great. the scene where stitch reveals himself to nani is so good. David being this guy that tolerates the wierdest shit just because he's trying to get laid. the initial villains turning around and deciding the shit they're fucking with is way better than the shit they're used to... it's a great flick.

I don’t entirely doubt it but the difference between woke and not is the fact that they show Nani constantly being a fuck up. That’s diversity done right in my opinion when characters are portrayed as human and not god like beings who do no wrong bevause there women and or brown. I hated pocohantos and hunch back as a kid so I can’t speak for them I haven’t seen them in nearly 30 years

No. Even though they feature brown or ugly characters, they still doing under the mainstream aesthetic.

Woke inherently means that the aesthetic must be subverted and destroyed, because neomarxists claim that the only way forward is to destroy all of society and make it anew, placing the "oppressed" on the top rungs on society artificially. This is why you end up with things like Bazz, where they're trying to find the intersectional inferior and elevating it.

Since we're talking Disney, I just wanna say something: this movie isn't that great. Sure, it has good character designs, animation/aesthetics and music, but the storyline is contrived trash, the pacing is rushed, and the jokes are weak.

It going from a serious drama several years in the making to elaborate shitpost (with heart) with a rushed and expensive production strangely in this case made the film better. I believe the animation team got to work on the Rhapsody in Blue segment of Fantasia 2000 during the shift, which was great. Them + the Cats Don’t Dance director was a good combo and everything just aligned. Choosing to put Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warburton together officially made it a masterpiece.

Sadly we’ll never know what each knot of the ropes tried to represent, but there are some theories that point out that it was related to some sort of numerical system for agricultural purposes. The only people who had such knowledge are said to have died due to the diseases brought by the Spaniards afterwards, while the remaining Inca loyalists took refuge with Manco Inca in the deep rainforest of Cuzco, never to be seen again.

Why would adults identify with the children? I have yet to have ever heard about someone not seeing their kid in the dryer or it automatically turning on and them dying. I remember this one video of some black couple putting their kid in the washer/dryer for the lulz and it getting locked, but got them out.

Another thing is the 9/11 plane, I mean I get it happening recently to the release of the movie, but I don't get how they feel as though people seeing the original scene that people are gonna have some hate or some kinda ptsd seeing a plane and tower next to each other. Would it really trigger something in someone to just have a plane flying around? Are people that SAWFT and any amount of complaining that people will bend the knee that easily?

Who ever they are getting for these tests screenings for the films are complete cancer, I can only imagine the animators having to go back and changing slight details just because some Disney adult kid is over thinking possibilities of what a kid might do and yes kids are dumb, but I think a kid going into a dryer/washer is definitley a lack of parenting and supervision, but what does it matter just a dude ranting about some stoopid Disney movie scene.

for starters, the lead character was a piece of shit at the beginning of the movie, so across his adventure he actually goes through a learning arc to become a good person and a good leader for his people.
something as simple as that is impossible for modern writers to do, look at that new pixar movie, elio, his design, the cast and the setup were all planned first to be inclusive and to not anger any demographic, which means removing any potential for growth from elio, turning the whole thing into a bland and forgettable project.

giving them the benefit of the doubt regarding any ideological cult mentality, I see it first as a money issue instead, they bloat their budgets too much and with the money, they have to get the retarded executive producer meddling with the creative process. too much money, too many retarded people getting cold feet about everything, ending up with a project having all of its potential, voice and risks removed, in favor of a safer, sanitized and non offensive setup.

It has one of the best songs Sting has ever written playing over the credits.

In the quiet time of evening
When the stars assume their patterns
And the day has made his journey
And we wondered just what happened
To the life we knew before the world changed
When not a thing I held was true
But you were kind to me
And you reminded me...
That the world is not my playground
There are other things that matter
And when a simple needs protecting
My illusions all would shatter
But you stayed in my corner
The only world I knew was upside down
And now the world and me, I know you carry me

This is exactly why all of Disney and Pixar’s movies focus on “muh generation trauma” lately. These “writers” haven’t lived life, they have no life experience, they have NOTHING to write about, NO stories to tell. Which is why the keep defaulting on “muh mommy and daddy didn’t understand me!!”

I recently read Kon-Tiki which was about this. In the late 40s six Nords and a parrot sailed a balsa raft from Peru to the Polynesian islands to prove it could be done. It's a great read.
Then in the 70s the same guy sailed an Egyptian papayrus boat across the Atlantic to the Americas
