Netflix's 4K plan is $24.99/month and Max's 4K plan is $20.99/month. Apple TV+ starts at $9.99/month now.

Old stuff and foreign stuff.
I do it for archiving purposes though. Saw the writing on the walls years ago when they started editing movies or outright banning them on these subscription platforms.
If I want to really see a new movie, I'll watch it when its in theatres then immediately forget I watched it.

I cancelled Netflix because they keep charging more and more and have less and less worth watching. I just use the free streaming services like Pluto and Tubi, the only one I pay for is Crunchyroll because I like watching anime on my bigger tv that my xbox is hooked up to and using the internet to navigate pirate sites on there is just a nightmare.

I only watch dubbed anime because I'm a true blue americhud. I'm so pissed they bought out Funimation because Funi was way better and didn't censor any of their anime whereas Crunchyroll does censor some of theirs. I know lots of people hated Funimation but Crunchyroll is objectively worse, my subscription and account simply got rolled over when they got bought out is all so now it's a Crunchyroll account.

Average monthly take-home pay, post tax, in the United States is $5,359 per month, meaning the average 2-person household brings in $10,718 per month.

Why is it so unthinkable to spend 0.8% of your monthly household income on streaming services from which you will derive several hours of entertainment per day? I don't think twice about buying a $69.99 video game that I'll enjoy.

the lifestyle of the 90s was nearly completely different to today in terms of goals, spending, and the general lower cost of everything. entertainment prices havenโ€™t really changed in 30 years though, cable was always and is still expensive, video games recently just started going up. people donโ€™t even buy music anymore. a lot has changed.

It's actually such a pain in the ass to download music these days "legitimately" if said band doesn't have a Bandcamp. They all direct you to streaming platforms and if you're lucky MAYBE apple music where you can download in their proprietary extension format.
I punch in the album I'm looking for on qbittorrent and find it instantly.
If I really want to support an artist, I'll buy some merch off their band website or see them live. But trying to download music for your personal digital library is a pain without p2p.

DVDs and CDs have always been about $15-$25 dollars depending on how theyโ€™re trying to milk you. Blu-rayโ€™s are even cheaper now but theyโ€™re trying to kill them. UHDs are expensive because theyโ€™re new and the market is dying. Video games have stayed consistent until the last few years. Prove me wrong.

cable started off as pretty cheap because it was competing with air broadcast, and its main selling point was reception and no commercials. then prices started rising, then commercials introduced, then removing channels unless paid premiums, price hikes, etc, etc, where its now in its current sorry state of ads on premium channels (get super premium for no ads!) and other such faggotry.

streaming went through the exact same evolution.

Literally nobody buys music, why pay $15 for one album when you can pay $15 a month and listen to EVERY album, including the one you were gonna buy? The streaming services rape the artists and give them literal pennies for thousands listens that would have made artists 10s of thousands of dollars in the 90s. Unless you're getting millions of streams regularly, the only way to make money off music is to perform live now.

Yes, and this is what people with a brain have been saying from the moment we had both Netflix and Hulu at the same time, eventually there's gong to be so many streaming services fragmenting the available products on the market that the only thing that will make any sense to do is to bundle everything together into one big expensive package the exact same way cable did because nobody is going to want to have to sign up for and manage 8 different subscriptions just to watch 8 shows on 8 different platforms with 8 different interfaces to navigate.
