So at the last minute they decided "let's just have her receive some emails by accident, and despite her being loyal, competent, and clearly respected by all her superiors to the point where she was given charge of a crucial part of ensuring the success of the Death Star which she executed flawlessly. Now she is immediately suspected of treason, and viewed as incompetent" despite the fact that her assertions that Axis was absolutely a serious threat were proven to be true, and also that the higher ups are pissed that the rebels now know about the Death Star, despite the fact that they are going to demonstrate it by test firing it on Jedha, and then blowing up Alderaan entirely in about a week.
Also the Rebellion learns about the
Death Star's existence at the end of Andor, and then suddenly forget about it again at the start of Rogue One, because getting the information that the Death Star exists and that there is a weakness is the whole point of Rogue One.
