Jurassic World Rebirth has half the budget of Superman, yet its CGI looks far superior. What's going on? How does Superman have a $360 million budget while Jurassic has a $180 million and yet Superman (and FF for that matter) looks rubbery and fake.

The new Jurassic World is directed by Gareth Edwards. Who is probably top two or top three current directors on planet earth right now when strictly talking visuals and fx and nothing else.

I haven't seen a Jurassic Park movie in years let alone paid to see one but I will go see the next one solely because Edwards is directing it.

marvel and DC movies all suffer from the same problem: the script is being rewritten constantly throughout production which leads to time consuming reshoots. effect companies are working on those movies basically until the day they are being released. the CG looks bad because the artists had a grand total of 3 weeks to work on it.

You are not going to believe this, but cgi actually decreases with time of production.
There's nothing innately better using a 5090 graphics render farm over a 1050ti one.
A 5090 doesn't "render better", it never does, it just does it faster.
A studio with a 5090 render farm is going to be a LOT more expensive just to be faster, and sometimes you don't even need it faster, it's just the upfront cost you are paying.
So it's entirely possible that the Superman production time was shorter and thus more expensive, which does not translate ANTHING of that money into quality.

Gareth Edwards did The Creator fir $80 million which while the script wasn't the greatest the visual fx were better than movies with triple the budget. He said un interviews it was because he had the movie completely written planned and outlined before he started shooting. A lot of the big budget $200m blockbuster cgi heavy movies start shooting before the script is even finished.

Who gives a fuck when you make one of the dumbest, dullest movies of the year. Yay he saved the studio some money. He wasted mine buying a ticket.

Gareth Edwards was a vfx artist before he started directing.

Still a fuckload of money. If you can't get realistic CGI on that budget, with ILM on the case you don't know what you're doing. They figured this shit out 30 years ago.

It's a crying shame because I was interested because of Edwards but I hate every single person in it which killed any interest. Especially the lead bint.

I tried to watch The Creator on Tubi and turned it off within 20 minutes. It was so boring.
Plus it was just the US is evil and these random thrid world people are amazing and so much smarter than all their tech.

So why did he approve that fucking CGI Peter Cushing in Rogue One? Looked so damn obvious. If he'd just left the actor in makeup as is, it would've been more convincing and less distracting. Actor was literally already a lookalike.

Was there a reason in the script why they went to so much trouble to create humanoid robots with skin that looked real and believable, and then they just put a hole through their head from one ear to the other? What's the point of going to all that trouble and expense to pass as human, and then putting a giant giveaway on your head where everyone will see. Because someone thinks it looks cool?

It is profoundly boring. Boring actors, boring dialog. Stupid go-nowhere plot. Designed as empty vehicle for trashy sci-fi paperback cover visuals. Anyone who has anything positive to say about it is just rating it as a technical assignment rather than as a peace of entertainment. Forget about thought-provoking science fiction, compelling societal commentary, or emotionally involving drama. But check out this slop in 4K and HDR.
