The hardcore zealot talk is pure kayfabe. Like anything else it's all about money.
If someone gives you $10mil a year to simply proclaim you support so and you do it then you're on the hook. Technically it's free money, as long as you follow an established routine and proclaim support.
Then you're told it's going to be $15 mil a year but you have to do it a bit extra, just show your support a bit more, so it's clear.
And so on.
After X amount of years people like that become flanderized into a shameless walking ad for whoever is paying them.
The ridiculous amounts of money they're paid basically prevent them from even walking back on it or saying something contrary to the script.
