let's be real Crossed is not THAT extreme, either. It's always just some gay sodomizing shit while sawing off a limb or something and it's a panel at best while the protagonist is running away. Some scenes in Terrifier were actually far worse and gory than 99% of what Crossed shows. All of their graphic rape is also just homo shit like we only saw dicks in GoT, it's really not that out there compared to some other comics.
The cover art like the picture in OP is in most cases the most graphic and extreme panel of the whole issue.

I think Crossed is neato and 4chan gets disproportionately upset about it.
Uber would make a much better series though.

A big part about most Crossed stories (and some of the only good things about them) is that the humans tend to be just as bad of not even worse than the Crossed.
Which can make for some interesting or at least entertaining plots. Kinda like how the infected mushroom monsters were only one of many threats in the Last of Us, while the other survivors were the real danger.
Gives it at least one semblance of reality, because let's be real, if we went full Mad Max after the apocalypse most survivors would just be cruel rapists trying to make the best of their situation.
